I discovered another great tip from Tita Monique Villonco! When i visited her last week, i saw a bunch of plastic organizers set aside in her house. I asked the household staff what it was and she said that, in case of a fire, those are the first things they will bring out of the house. Wow!!! I was amazed at how organized it was and how forward thinking Tita Monique is. And her being a photographer, of course, most of the stuff in those containers are valuable memories which you cannot recreate anymore once they are lost or burned. I am going to Make Room to buy matching plastic containers and copying her great idea!

how much is one of those fire-proof safes? how big is yours?

* the first one who gave me that idea was pam peña.she saw her neighbour’s house burning, and, she thought of implementing such a system. she so kindly said that she thought of my house and how absolutely everything was in a container and easy to move.
* for the really valuable stuff, the “sentry” safes are a great idea. they are built not to burn until after 30 minutes or so, thus, giving one plenty of time in an emergency to secure the contents. if one has trustworthy helps, it is easy enough to bring out the smaller ones out in case of emergency.
* have i shared with you my baking soda tip? i brief my helpers that in case of a grease fire, never, ever to douse it with water. i thus keep an open cup of baking soda beside the stove for them to throw on a grease fire in case it ever happens.

Just saw this interesting picture and had to let you know what I did. I had all my important and valuable pictures scanned as .jpegs and the documets as .pdf files so that thay can fit in cd’s. I also transferrred them into my notebook and imac at home and work in case of an emergency. The pictures were scanned at P5.00 a piece and the documents as low as P3.00 per page depending on the volume. No need to haul boxes, you can make several copies of the data and keep them in safe places. See you soon, and keep sending your blogs, they’re really interesting!
