A sustainability forum, which will be moderated by CNN-Philippines’s Mitzi Borromeo, will also be held on August 12, 9:00 am to 11:00 am, in one of Central Square’s theatres to shed light on the current status of our planet in relation to sustainable travel and ecotourism. Panelists include Anton Diaz of Our Awesome Planet and Mayor Josephine Alcantara-Cruz of Donsol, among others.

As the Chairperson of WWF-Philippines National Youth Council, Alexa Cancio highlights the importance of sustainable living.  “Young people, having access to various information particularly through social media, are aware of the different social and environmental issues taking place all over the world. We believe that many of these issues can be addressed on the individual level by improving the way we live, which is why our council of eight members felt sustainable living would be the most appropriate message to push not just with young people, but with the Philippine society in general.”

She adds, “Right now, there isn’t any common online platform to find all the sustainable travel options in the Philippines, which is why it is timely to organize a travel fair like Green Wanderer that will house various sustainable options for the people.”

Another active green traveller and WWF-Philippines National Youth Council member, Nikki Huang believes that along with transport, accommodations have the biggest impact on our ecological footprint when traveling.Green Wanderer (19)

“The most interesting feature of the Green Wanderer travel fair is that it is green. Travel fairs are common, but WWF wanted to put a twist on this one. It’s as much a testament to sustainability and conservation efforts in the Philippines as it is a fun tourism experience. Travel takes on a whole other level of significance when done in a way that not only reduces harm, but is beneficial to the environment and local people and animals, and this is something that all of the organizations represented at this fair stand for,” shares Nikki.

According to WWF-Philippines President and CEO Joel Palma, travel and tourism contribute around 9 percent of the world’s total GDP. One out of 11 jobs are related to tourism and travel.

He notes, “The benefits from the travel industry are so vast a scale that we cannot afford this industry to fail. With climate change and wasteful consumption issues over our planet’s ability to produce, green travel is a must to save our environment. This should be a concerted effort from both the traveler and the travel industry to ensure that we leave a living planet for future generations to enjoy and benefit from.”

SSI Group, Inc. President Anton Huang says, “It’s a privilege to be able to partner with WWF on this truly unique event. Travel has become a big part of all of our lives. Whether you’re a budget traveler or a luxury traveler, there’s always room for more awareness when it comes to how our travels impact our planet. Creating Green Wanderer is our way of practicing this advocacy here in our own backyard, and presenting Filipino travelers with options and ideas.”

Olde Hansa

By | Regent Seven Seas Explorer | No Comments

As recommended by our tour guide, we had lunch at Olde Hansa which is a Medieval restaurant.  It was very interesting. It was dark inside with candles all over which was how it was doing the Medieval times.   We decided to eat outside haha!! #oldehansa #oldehansatallinn #Tallin#Estonia #Regent25#regentsevenseasexplorer#h2hssexplorer2017Olde Hansa (13) Olde Hansa (14) Olde Hansa (18) Olde Hansa (15) Olde Hansa (16) Olde Hansa (17) Olde Hansa (22) Olde Hansa (20) Olde Hansa (21) Olde Hansa (19) Olde Hansa (23) Olde Hansa (26) Olde Hansa (24) Olde Hansa (29)Olde Hansa (25)Olde Hansa (28)Olde Hansa (2)Olde Hansa (3)Olde Hansa (4)Olde Hansa (30) Olde Hansa (5) Mushroom soup which was under the bread plate :-)  Olde Hansa (1)Olde Hansa (8) Olde Hansa (7)Olde Hansa (6)Medieval food at @olde_hansa Game sausages made out of wild boar, elk and bear Olde Hansa (31)  Himalayan Lamb #oldehansa#oldehansatallinn #Tallin #Estonia#Regent25 #regentsevenseasexplorer#h2hssexplorer2017 #h2hlambOlde Hansa (32) Wild Boar  Olde Hansa (33)   Divine Leg of Pork Olde Hansa (34)

Captain and Crew’s Farewell show on board the #regentsevenseasexplorer @regentcruises

What a nice way to give credit to the crew who work so hard to make everything perfect for the guests on the ship. Without them there would be no memorable experience on the ship :-)

Majority of the crew of #regentsevenseasexplorer @regentcruises are Filipinos and they are the best!  We made sure we watched the show to support our fellow kababayans and cheer for them. Ofcourse Pinoys are great performers and we are so proud of them and love them #Regent25#regentcruises #h2hssexplorer2017#h2hentertainmentCaptain and Crew's Farewell (4) Captain and Crew's Farewell (3) Captain and Crew's Farewell (2) Captain and Crew's Farewell (5)Captain and Crew's Farewell (6)

Tallin, Estonia

By | Regent Seven Seas Explorer | No Comments

 Tallin, Estonia

My favorite among the Hanseatic league ( Lithuania and Latvia) The old Town Tallin is a UNESCO Heritage Site.  It was under the Danish, German, Swedish and Russians.

Tallinn, Estonia’s capital on the Baltic Sea, is the country’s cultural hub. It retains its walled, cobblestoned Old Town, home to cafes and shops, as well as Kiek in de Kök, a 15th-century defensive tower. Its Gothic Town Hall, built in the 13th century and with a 64m-high tower, sits in historic Tallinn’s main square. St. Nicholas Church is a 13th-century landmark exhibiting ecclesiastical art.
