Eileen Fisher – A Vision Of Simplicity

By | Fashion, What's New at Rustan's | No Comments

eileen-fisher1.jpg

Beautiful simple clothing designed to move with real life, Eileen Fisher is more than a brand. Eileen Fisher is a culture and an ethos born of passionate individuals who work, using good design to inspire creativity, cultivating connection and instilling confidence. By reflecting these values in their craft, clothing, workspace and interaction, Eileen Fisher celebrates vital dynamic between one and many.

eileen-fisher5.jpg

Great design is at the heart of EILEEN FISHER. It is an idea brought to life through clean lines, simple shapes and sensual fabrics. It strives to balance the timeless with the modern, function with beauty. It is an organic system, always evolving, changing, building upon what’s come before. Great design is clothing in context, made to fit both our bodies and our lives. It is a dialogue between seasonal perspectives and enduring ideals.

eileenfisher2.jpg eileenfisher3.jpg

At EILEEN FISHER, this conversation around great design begins with our shared Design Values – Simple, Sensual, Beautiful, Timeless and Functional. Their Design Principles are: Simplicity, Beauty, Comfort, Ease, Function, Versatility. These values form the foundation of our aesthetic; they are what we aspire to achieve within every product we craft. Our Design Values are our creative anchors, grounding us in the essentials of EILEEN FISHER design. They provide us with a shared language from which new ideas and fresh interpretations can emerge each season. They are where we started and where we will always start again.

eileenfisher6.jpg

We inspire creativity. At EILEEN FISHER, creativity is as integral to soulful living as eating well and laughing like hell. Think of it as the wet chemistry of our collective energy, ideas and dialogue, enlivening and nourishing us in the day-to-day. Abandoning ourselves to the spirit of creative play, we encourage surprise and discovery, courage and vision, instinct and intuition. These are our guides as we seek and explore new opportunities for growth and connection, learning about ourselves by leaping together into the unknown and translating the beauty of the unexpected into artful expression.

eileenfisher7.jpg

We instill confidence. At EILEEN FISHER, we begin by honoring our voices, letting each ring out as valid and valued. In supporting and nurturing each other, we find our individual strengths and learn how to enhance them.

eileenfisher8.jpg

We bring a similar love of self-expression to our customers, instilling confidence through the beauty and performance of great design much like an ergonomic chair or a well-formed utensil. Adaptable and interchangeable, our clothing prevails with the very grace we all aspire to, at once yielding and steadfast. As such, a beautiful dynamic emerges between the adorned and the adornment, each benefiting from the nuanced qualities of the other.

We cultivate connection. At EILEEN FISHER, we thrive on connection, best knowing our selves through knowing others and the stories, facets and intricacies they embody. We each listen, seeking to be surprised by what we don’t know, delighted by silence and inspired to reach beyond the shadows we cast. From our nearest whispers to our most distant touches, we demonstrate singular action and collective impact, and bear the essence of EILEEN FISHER, a woman and a community.

Eileen’s goal is to live simply. That includes getting dressed! “I’m a mother, a clothing designer, and a businesswoman,” says Eileen, “My wardrobe meets my varying needs. The idea is, you just put your clothes on and go. You don’t have to fuss. You don’t think about them all day, you’re just ready to … do what you need to do.”

Eileen didn’t start out as a clothing designer – she began her work life as an interior designer. Getting dressed for work each day took so much effort! She thought about the uniform she had worn throughout high school- and it became the seed of a vision. “The company really started when I began seeing all these little pictures in my mind, these garments and how they all would go together. It was a vision of simplicity.”

In 1984, with $350 in the bank, she designed and introduced four basic pieces at the boutique show in New York City, where she received $3000 in orders. At her second show, 3 months later, she expanded the line to eight pieces- and brought in $40,000 in orders. Eileen Fisher Inc was born.

The original concept- high quality, simple, comfortable women’s clothing that works as a “Wardrobing concept” – still defines the evolving line that now fills 50 Eileen Fisher stores and is sold in Department and Specialty stores across the U.S and Canada.

Eileen was born and raised in Des Plaines, Illinois, and graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign. She moved to New York in 1973, working first as an interior designer and then as a graphic artist until 1983. She founded her company in 1984 with clothing that filled a void in the market. As one customer put it “What I love most about Eileen Fisher Clothes is they allow me to be myself.”

Eileen Fisher is exclusively distributed by Rustan’s Commercial Corporation and can be found at Rustan’s Department Store in Makati.

Furla Spring Summer 2010

By | Fashion, What's New at Rustan's | 2 Comments

Understated elegance always in step with trends

In line with the current trends and in tune with its own style, which is understated yet always innovative,  Furla presents a Spring / Summer 2010 accessories collection featuring utterly feminine, sober and refined shapes, characterised by strong colours and a touch of funky yet captivating style. Two themes, Evolve and Imagineer, complete each other to interpret creatively the renewed desire for luxury and optimism of the contemporary woman.

furla-venue-1.JPGfurla-venue-3.JPGfurla-venue-4.JPGfurla-venue-5.JPG

EVOLVE

The perfect lines of Nature, such as the geometry of the hives’ cells, the sinuous and shiny curves of the underwater world and the delicacy of the plant world inspire the Evolve line.

A simple and elegant mood with an oriental touch, for a sensual and elegant woman, in a mix of natural elements with a stroke of summer fun. The materials, from python to gradient vegetal crocodile printed and woven multi-printed calf leathers are soft with a matt effect, enhanced by delicate and warm tones. Tender and light pastel colours, such as petal rose, sand and white cotton, approach intense tones such as aloe and sandalwood. Each detail has a vintage look, with a fine print in bright colours, embellished with satin-finished metal.

Colours: white cotton, coffee, onyx, petal rose, sand, aloe, sandalwood.

Materials: python, gradient vegetal crocodile, vegetal crocodile, woven multi-printed calf leather, Nappa leather, deer and soft vegetal calf leather.

IMAGINEER

The world of imagination takes off, developing a surreal mood influenced by the universe of dreams, in a metamorphosis between past and present.

The Imagineer woman is whimsical yet sophisticated, a woman who likes to have fun with retro-futuristic combinations, matching a touch of 80’s style with a modern twist for a Pop, cheerful and colourful look. The dazzling colours contrast, characteristic of a bright summer style, start from a dusty light palette with vetiver and white tones, to tap the vibrant colours of plants, such as mimosa yellow, patchouli orange and red cherry, with a fluorescent touch, hot and cold at the same time.  The materials play on daring prints, such as coral python and striped straw, with small funky details such as creative pockets and zips, to provide the active woman a practical yet stylish fashion accessory.

Colours: mimosa yellow, patchouli orange, red cherry, vetiver, white, onyx.

Materials: coral python, striped straw, shaded-off ayers reptile, metallic Nappa leather, polished croc, deer, soft vegetal calf leather, synthetic patent.

Furla footwear collection revels in peppy contrasts and eye-catching colours

A collection of unprecedented contrasts and clever graphic designs, and as ever, the epitome of youthful elegance and sophistication. The Max Kibardin Spring-Summer 2010 footwear collection is a further case of the contemporary classic style that Furla has always embraced and updated continuously with innovative new takes on style and design.

The Russian-born designer, who gained much acclaim at the Furla Talent Hub, focused his creative talents on two details: studs and bows. They may seem worlds apart but when they become the object of such an inspired mind, they put the style into statement shoes, making them ideal for modern women who are increasingly more open to new ideas and audacious combinations.

Studs are added where embroidered decorations might have gone, and the recurring geometrically-cut bows create an elegant futuristic feel. Kibardin’s shoes are extremely feminine and reveal a myriad of colours and interesting combinations of materials in the same shoe.

The collection features soft nappa,  patent leather or suede pumps made using the slip-lasting technique;  ultra-flat “Capri” sandals and unlined boots in light suede and perforated nappa; and statement, engineered heels presenting a new take on low-cut courts. Among the real showstoppers, however, are the coloured rubber pumps and flip flops featuring mini-studs and python inserts.

In the Philippines, Furla is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI) and is located at Greenbelt 5, Rustan’s Makati, and Shangri-La Plaza Mall.

Vara

By | Fashion, What's New at Rustan's | No Comments

The Vara buckle with grosgrain bow is one of the most iconic symbols of Salvatore Ferragamo.

salvatorreferragamobuckle.jpg

The original Vara model dates back to 1978, when it was created by Fiamma, Salvatore and Wanda Ferragamo’s eldest daughter.

“When it came out,” said Fiamma in an interview, “the boutique line didn’t have a model that was both sporty and elegant. The designers set to work on a shape that had been tried and tested for some seasons and was well known to be comfortable, with a low heel and round toe.

The prototype was given a small oval decoration and a bow improvised out of a strip of gros grain from the atelier.

It seemed a good idea and we decided to pass the shoe on to a modeller, asking him to make a bow in the same leather as the uppers. In actual fact, the message was misunderstood and the bow stayed in grosgrain”.

salvatore-ferragamo-vara-bow.jpg

Since then, production on the Vara has never stopped, and more than a million pairs have been sold, making it the most successful shoe in its category.

The Vara’s success lies in its elegantly minimalist design – a closed, round-toe shoe with a low heel, gros-grain bow, and gold plaque bearing the Ferragamo logo.

Its sophisticated style has left a mark on Ferragamo clothing and all of its accessories, from buttons and belts to jewellery and bags. Over the years, it has been made in every possible colour, fabric and skin, without losing any of its charm. It has inspired countless imitations.

The most recent version, the Varina, puts a modern spin on this Ferragamo icon.

Updating the Vara’s soft lines into a ballerina style, the Varina has kept the gold plaque and fabric bow, along with a grosgrain ribbon stitched along the trim.

In 2010, Salvatore Ferragamo introduces new sensual models with a glamorous look.

The iconic Vara pump takes on a new sensual look with a slender-heeled platform, creating a new classic.

salvatore-ferragamo-peep-toe-vara-platform-pump-in-light-grey-calfskin.jpg salvatore-ferragamo-peep-toe-vara-platform-pump-in-metallic-calfskin.jpg

For handbags, the Vara stays as an iconic detail that immediately declares brand identity. The Vara bow becomes a drape of exclusive leather (anchored by a logo plate) to signature this highly iconic new collection. The materials of the Vara bags are available in metallic calfskin and nappa calf and in simple black and muted colors such as beige, cream, and brown. The collection for Spring Summer 2010 is sophisticated and alluring reflecting a new code of luxury through the Vara.

In the Philippines, Salvatore Ferragamo is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI) and is located at Power Plant Mall, Greenbelt 4, Rustan’s Tower, Rustan’s Makati, Alabang Town Centre and Rustan’s Ayala Cebu.

Boss Spring Summer 2010

By | Fashion, What's New at Rustan's | No Comments

 BOSS Green

BOSS Green stands for trendy sportswear and fashionably functional golf apparel. The menswear line offers a modern look for golf enthusiasts and those who enjoy a relaxed lifestyle off the course. The focus is on innovative design, with intelligent features providing the added value. In the “Pro Line” – the segment devoted exclusively to technical golfwear – a broad range of performance materials comes into play. This capsule line is also worn by all of the professional golfers outfitted by BOSS Green, including the Swede Henrik Stenson.

bossgreenss20101.jpg

The BOSS Green Spring/Summer collection for 2010 was inspired by the jet set of the early 1960s, an era shaped by style icons such as Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. A panama hat that works both on and off the greens recalls the celebrated “Rat Pack.”

The dolce vita of the Riviera in the ‘sixties is mirrored in evocative colors to introduce a refreshing, bright mood. Navy blue and turquoise co-star with an intense yellow and red. This story is supported by pastels, including a delicate pink that is paired with gray and white.

Classic patterns including checks, stripes and argyles are reinterpreted and tailored to fit the typical BOSS Green look. For example, a strong block check runs through the collection’s various color groups.

bossgreenss20102.jpg

This season is also premiering a denim line featuring three different washings and an ultra-light version for the heat of high summer. The range of cuts underscores the laidback, casual BOSS Green style.

bossgreenss20103.jpg

Sporty cropped jackets and blousons in summery fabrics are combined with tees sporting cool graphics. The highlight in the performance apparel: fully taped seams that keep golf jackets water- and windproof.

 bossgreenss20104.jpgbossblack20105.jpg

The signature mix of lifestyle ease and golfing passion that defines the BOSS Green look extends through to the shoes and accessories. Specialist golf shoes and bags are complemented by stylish sneakers, boat shoes and weekender bags that round out the leisure look.

BOSS Black Menswear Spring Summer 2010

L.A. STORY

Intriguingly different details and clean cuts form the focus of the BOSS Black Men’s Collection for summer 2010. Inspired by the Los Angeles lifestyle, the collection tells an “L.A. Story” that comfortably fuses urban chic with the relaxed vibe of the West Coast. BOSS Black Menswear presents a cosmopolitan face featuring light yet masculine outfits.

In line with L.A.’s contemporary architecture, slender silhouettes dominate. The emphasis is on a combination of elegantly formal styles and informal casual wear pieces. The classic jacket is worn with laid-back chinos, creating a surprisingly fresh and modern look.

bossblack20102.jpg

The centerpiece of the BOSS Black collection is once again the suit, with shape and style lending it a distinctive fashion statement. Close-cut double-breasted blazers show narrow lapels and pair with slim trousers. The key look is a lightweight cotton/linen model in summery, sandy beige. Topped with a casual scarf, this suit is ideal for a midsummer night’s party in Hollywood Hills. In the outerwear, double-breasted jackets and cottony-soft parkas round out the look of easygoing elegance.

bossblack20104.jpg

The materials are lightweight and luxurious. Airy linen and cotton blends define the suits and contrast with blousons in ultra-fine lambskin leather. The season’s palette is muted: sand and brown tones, shades of gray, and an array of blues play the starring role. Clean white and light blue add fresh summer accents.

bossblack20103.jpg

A wide range of accessories completes the BOSS Black look for Spring/Summer 2010. Lace-ups and a companion workbag in sumptuous calf leather both come in navy blue – a perfect fit for the collection’s summer styles.

bossblack20101.jpg

In the Philippines, BOSS Black is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI) and the boutiques are located at Greenbelt 4 and Shangri-La Plaza Mall.

America’s Style Icon, Patricia Field, and long-time partner, Payless ShoeSource, unveiled today the next item under the Patricia Field for Payless designer label — a four-leaf clover charm necklace inspired by Field’s recent work as stylist and custom designer creating the fashion for the movie Sex and the City 2

 pat-fields.jpg

The silver-toned necklace features a four-leaf clover charm encrusted with multiple pavé-set sparkly jewels.  The charm hangs from an 18-inch delicate textured cable chain with a lobster claw clasp and a two-inch extender, allowing the necklace to be worn long or short with a range of necklines to emphasize the unique, sparkly clover charm.

The Patricia Field for Payless necklace is expected in stores, due to grand open in July in the Philippines.

“I love charms and believe in their value both spiritually and stylistically,” said Patricia Field, who in addition to her styling and custom design work for movies and television, has been the stylist for Payless’ TV and print ads, and store lifestyle signage for years.

“This necklace is inspired by my work styling the upcoming Sex and the City 2 movie.  The classic endurance of the lucky charm makes my four-leaf clover a meaningful and beautiful accessory for any woman,” said Field. “I believe in the fashion democracy and making amazing fashion available for all to enjoy.  I also believe women should work to create their personal sense of style that tells their own fashion story.  And accessories are key in doing that and  Payless’ seasonal collections offer a wide range of items for women to affordably complete a signature look, including my new necklace.”

According to Payless, the four-leaf clover charm necklace is the first of additional charmed items to come from the Patricia Field-Payless collaboration.

“We love working with Patricia.  She is America’s Style Icon and a tremendous design talent creating unique fashion stories covering everything from the big screen and TV to Payless stores,”  said LuAnn Via, CEO of Payless. “We are thrilled to partner with her to democratize fashion, and we are excited to bring this unique charm necklace to Payless shoppers next week.”

About Patricia Field for Payless

Field has had a long-standing and close relationship with Payless for years — styling the retailer’s ads and creating capsule collections.  In 2007, when she was nominated for an Oscar® for her costume designs for “The Devil Wears Prada,” Field and Payless collaborated to create her one-of-a-kind “red carpet shoes” a platform heel with an ankle strap featuring an edgy mix of silver metallic and lime-colored snake skin.   The red carpet shoes became the inspiration for the Patricia Field for Payless “Holiday Red Carpet Collection” available later that year — and the Payless designer label was born. The new four-leaf clover necklace and forthcoming charmed items are the latest from the designer, available exclusively at Payless.

Summer Sophistication with Massimo Dutti

By | Fashion, Summer, What's New at Rustan's | No Comments

For the summer season, striking and bright colored outfits are the usual trend. But for those who want to stand out with sophistication, Massimo Dutti’s Spring Summer 2010 collection will help you achieve this. The cornerstone of Massimo Dutti’s collection is the urban, elegant, refined and up-to-date men and women who are proud of his or her identity without being a slave to fashion trends.

 img_0894.JPG

This season’s collection unfolds countless varieties of looks and designs that elicit a subtle yet distinctive look with the perfect mix of shades and fabrics. Aside from the neutrals black and white, a little use of earth tones such red, dusty pink, taupe, asphalt and orange are combined with more cold colors like sea green, shades of purple, and rich gray to give the right amount of coolness and at the same time maintain a little heat for the summer season. Fabrics on the other hand are a mix of linen, cotton, nylon, and silk which are light materials perfect for the hot season.

img_0892.JPG

Massimo Dutti provides a selection of clothes and accessories to equip you with a balance of comfort and elegance. For the urban chic, there is poetic warmth of color with touches of cooler shades where the elegant look, and at times casual, take on volume and much detail. The palette of colors range from dusty pink, plum, brown, emerald green, shades of blue, to the staple colors black and white.  Layering is a dominant trend this season – who said summer is only about dressing less? Light fabrics such as linen and cotton in various structures are the predominant materials that give comfort and breeze from the summer heat. Blouses and dresses come in plain colors, stripes, embroidered fabrics and floral prints with intricately detailed finishes. On top of this, light coats and jackets are perfect for your day at work. Knitted vests and hats are available too for a more casual look.

img_0893.JPG

All these can be paired with choices of shorts, trousers, or jeans for work or any ordinary day. For the finishing touches to get you ready to strut the streets under the summer heat are accessories. Bags and purses, clutches, and totes are a variety of suede or leather with luster or intricate designs depending on use and occasion. Scarves also come in a variety of colors in plain, plaid, or paisley prints to complement your look.  There are also belts that come in plain leather or with metal studs. For footwear are choices of Chelsea, ankle, and high cut boots in leather or suede, sandals, slip-ons, loafers, pumps and peep toe heels, or casual sneakers – whichever fits your mood or get-up. Lastly, accessories of course! Bracelets, necklaces, and watches come in simple designs for a clean fashionable look.

 img_0895.JPG

For men, vintage feel is imbibed as garments are distressed for a classic look tweaked with a touch of modernity. Bold colors such as sea green, blue, vibrant orange, red and deep purples coexist with earth tones and shades of asphalt.

img_0888.JPGimg_0890.JPG

Shirts come in plain colors, stripes, and plaids or checks. Over these shirts, cotton cardigans and nylon jackets are teamed with cargo shorts, trousers, and jeans with much focus given to intricate embroidery and various dyes throughout the collection. Scarves for men are also available in plain, checkered and paisley print to refurbish an outfit. To match are footwear such as loafers in suede and leather, boats shoes, and casual sneakers. For accessories, bags perfect for work or traveling are roomy and stylish satchels and duffel bags.  Cufflinks to give that distinct look for shirts to work have intricate designs that can easily be paired with any color are also available. Wallets, bracelets and belts that are essential for men come in leather or suede for a classy look.

img_0889.JPG

With a myriad of selections for apparel, footwear, and accessories from Massimo Dutti’s collection this season, you are sure to never run out of ways to dress up and to stand out looking refined, sophisticated – and of course summer ready!
