By | Foodie, Travel | 4 Comments

We only went to the city for one day so we made sure we spent it wisely and quickly 🙂

We just had to try the SHAKE SHACK! ( Previous Entry  Shake Shack June 19, 2008 )

What a beautiful location!! Madison Square Park

img_3555.jpgimg_3556.JPGimg_3597.JPGimg_3600.JPG

WHAT A LONG LINE!!!

img_3557.JPGimg_3558.JPGimg_3559.JPGimg_3561.JPGimg_3564.JPG

This Elvis seems to pop out in the city, I forgot where I saw him before…hmmm..or it could be one of the many Elvis going around the city 🙂

img_3565.jpg

The Shake Shack actually has a express line….and true enough, there was no one in this line because people really come for the burgers!!

img_3566.jpg

Sign to entertain you while in the line

img_3567.JPGimg_3568.JPG

Almost there!!! James in the green shirt

img_3571.JPG

While waiting in line, taking photos around me

img_3570.jpg

What is that on top of the building? A person? A sculpture?

img_3572.jpgimg_3573.jpgimg_3574.JPGimg_3576.jpgimg_3577.jpgimg_3578.jpgimg_3579.jpgimg_3580.jpgimg_3581.jpgimg_3582.jpgimg_3583.jpgimg_3584.JPG

When you finally order, you still have to wait!!!  They give you this gadget which rings when your order is ready to be picked up in the counter!! Too much suspense 🙂

img_3586.JPG

The condiment bar

Gramercy Park Hotel, New York

By | Homes and Interiors, Travel | One Comment

Right beside 50 Gramercy Park North ( By John Pawson August 14, 2010 ) is Gramercy Park Hotel.  We took a quick tour of the place and it was beautiful as we expected from an Ian Schrager creation

A beautiful residential condominium right across Gramercy Park, New York City

img_3601.JPGimg_3602.JPGimg_3603.JPGimg_3604.jpgianshragergramercypark.jpgianjohnpawgramercypark.jpg

We were fortunate to have visited a friend’s place in this very exclusive residence, not to mention, the neighbor of Karl Lagerfeld!

The condo was designed by John Pawson who is known for his minimalist style.  Some of his works are the Cathay Pacific lounge in the Hong Kong airport, Calvin Klein boutique and many others

Beautiful view of Gramercy Park by the living room

No clutter, everything is simple and clean

Everything in the condo is controlled by this- music, temperature, lights, window shades, etc.  They can also control it from their computer in Manila if needed

Pat’s or Geno’s

By | Foodie, Travel | 4 Comments

Whenever we are in the East Coast, we try to go to Philadelphia to visit U Penn where James went to school and to have the real Philly cheese steak! So since we were in Pennsylvania already, on the way back, we passed by Philly!!

 img_3407.JPG

University of Pennsylvania high rises, where James used to dorm

img_3408.JPG

We used to go to Billybob’s but it closed down already 🙁  It was the BEST Philly Cheesesteak for us! We liked Billybob’s because they put the mushrooms, onions and melt the cheese while the steak is being cooked. They also heat the bread in the griller.   No one else does it like that.  I probably ate there only 3 times during the times I visited

So this trip, we decided to go to Pat and Geno’s.  James told be that there is a rivalry between the two as to who has the best cheesesteak.  We wanted to try for ourself and find out which is really better – Pat’s or Geno’s? 🙂  We got one cheesesteak with exactly the same specs.  We thought that both were just the same except for the way the beef is served- Pat’s has it sliced thinly and shred into pieces

img_3424.JPG

while Geno’s served their’s in beef slices that were flat.

img_3449.JPG

Pat’s

img_3429.JPGimg_3414.JPGimg_3415.JPGimg_3416.jpgimg_3418.JPGimg_3419.JPGimg_3420.JPGimg_3421.jpgimg_3422.JPGimg_3423.JPGimg_3427.jpgimg_3425.JPGimg_3426.jpgimg_3428.JPG

Website:  Pat’s King Of Steaks

Right across the street is Geno’s

img_3430.JPGimg_3431.JPGimg_3432.jpgimg_3433.JPGimg_3434.JPGimg_3435.JPGimg_3437.jpgimg_3438.JPGimg_3440.jpgimg_3439.jpgimg_3441.JPGimg_3442.JPGimg_3443.JPGimg_3444.JPGimg_3448.JPG

Website:  Geno’s Steaks

 We therefore conclude that:

**Billybob’s is still the BEST cheesesteak EVER!

**You don’t really need to go to Philly to have good cheesesteaks, besides it was summer and it was so hot, we had to eat outdoors! It was not comfortable at all!

Just go to Rockwell Power Plant mall and go to Elbert’s Cheesesteaks

Castle On the Hudson

By | Foodie, Homes and Interiors, Travel | One Comment

Lolo took us also to this beautiful castle!!!  If the trend is having restaurants in homes, this one was a castle!! It was a true home of an individual in the past and now it is a hotel with a restaurant.  Events and Weddings are also held here as it is truly a beautiful venue.
