In September 2012, my Ramen boys went to Butao Ramen in Hong Kong. They will search for the best Ramen place always wherever we are! They went early and lined up
Previous entry: Butao Ramen September 21, 2012
and Chef Javs went back last August with his Tito Jun Jun
No need to go to Hong Kong to have Butao!! It is only the Hong Kong branch that calls itself Butao Ramen which is known to us Filipinos who go there but the real name is Ramen Nagi so they are one and the same
Chef Ryoichi Nishio who will be one of the chefs that will be based here to cook for the Manila branch! With one of the owners, Avi Siy-Chua
Chef Nishio told us that one of the secrets is the noodles. 30% of the noodles are water so you need to make sure that you use good water in making the noodles
Another owner, James Chua! Congratulations!!! James told me that their second branch will be in Mall of Asia and will open sometime in January
Ramen Nagi owners – Michael James Chua, Carissa Coscolluela, Roxanne Farillas, Enti Coscolluela, Avi Siy-Chua and Erickson Farillas
Chef Ikuta and his team from Japan – Atsushi Kobayashi, Nobuhiro Sonoda, Ryoichi Nishio and Chef Ikuta
Create your own Ramen. For now they will only serve Ramen so they can focus on making sure the Ramen is up to their standards. Later on they will have the gyoza, the Chasu rice and other additional menu items
We were able to try 4 Ramens!
Butao King for James
Ramen boy Chef Javs had the Red King and he says that this is the BEST! He seemed to be the expert – he told us to order hard or extra hard noodles. Missing our other Ramen boy who we will definitely bring here when he arrives!
They have the freshly pressed garlic and bean sprouts. I loved adding the fresh garlic!
Carlo my cousin joined us and so we were able to try another ramen to share. Carlo ordered the Butao King. All the Ramen boys I was with that night said it was very good
We were able to order and share the Black King which was Squid with black ink
I was not planning to order my own but when I saw they had green pesto with cheese – I figured that was something I could eat and wow I enjoyed it!!!
I don’t normally eat Ramen but this was good! They should have extra cheese on the omotenashi sheet 🙂 I pressed from garlic and wow, even better!
