“Pagpag” for Sale

By | Giving Back, Great Ideas | 3 Comments

Thanks to my cousin, Ana, for sharing this video with me.  I literally lost my apetite watching the video.  But it is reality.

One of the things I am very particular about with my kids in the dinner table – it is making sure that they finish everything on their plate.  They should only order or get what they can finish.  They have to finish every grain of rice on their plate.   So I was very happy when my eldest son told me that they showed this video to the students in his school, Beacon.  It reinforces what I am trying to teach them, though I know I still have to repeat myself every time, I will do it and do it until they understand what i am trying to tell them and the importance of not wasting food as there are many other people and children in the world that are starving. For those who have not seen this yet, take time out to watch it…

My cousin, Ana, makes sure that her garbage is clean.  She takes time out to wash it and put them in proper bags.  Visit my previous entry last March 22.  This was a very popular entry in my website.  Thank you Ana for always sharing with us your kind deeds and making us open our eyes and taking the small deeds seriously…small deeds that actually make a difference in other people’s lives.

Felix

By | Foodie | One Comment

Felix is owned by our friends Miguel Pastor and Ben Chan together with their partners Richard Gomez and Chef Florabel.  Miguel and Ben are venturing into so many businesses…and I am glad this time there is food involved 🙂

Congratulations and more power to you!

(thanks to Miguel for the owner photos)

I have eaten in Felix twice already.  First with my good friend Michele and then with Rina who invited us all.  I always like something different from the usual…I thought that Felix is something out of the ordinary and very creative.

Chocolate Fondue by Frieda

By | Household Tips, What's New at Rustan's | 4 Comments

By now, you would have probably guessed that Heart2Heart is a fondue addict!  Even in highschool, I would arrange fondue dinners with my friends at home.  La Tasca Fondue room was our all time favorite restaurant.  It’s a pity they closed down.

Thanks again to Frieda for sharing with Heart2Heart a beautiful presentation for her chocolate fondue. How you can make something so simple look so beautiful- just like a work of art!

And a few months ago I saw this section in Rustan’s Home in Makati 4th floor with all fondue cookers!! I went crazy just looking at them!! So many kinds!!

Focaccia

By | Foodie | 5 Comments

Thanks to my bestfriend, Eds, for taking us to her cousin’s new restaurant!  RG and his chef friend, Ivan, worked together to come up with Focaccia.  Thanks also to the mom of RG, Tita Evelyn, for supporting this new venture.  Hope you can all support these two young guys!

The prices are very reasonable and the quality of the food is very good.  Definitely value for your money.  Perfect for big groups so you can share the dishes.  We enjoyed our lunch!   We will be back many many times and luckily it is very near our office!

More power to RG and Chef Ivan!

I liked the Cream of Tomato and Basil soup very much and it was nice to have it in sets of 3 small cups so we were all able to share it and only for P 90.00!

What a great concept!  Pazzo Rollio ( crazy rolls )!  I call it Super super thin crust pizza and I could eat it as is without even rolling it.  I love thin crust pizzas!  This kind is really the thinest I have tried.  I love it!! I want to try the other kinds!!!! 3 to 4 people can share one order and it is reasonably priced and YUMMY!

Our kids have even eaten here before us- see below ( right top corner ).  We saw their autographs on the wall!  They told us they liked it too! They want to go back already….

Criselda Lontok And Keleo Holiday Collection

By | Fashion, What's New at Rustan's | 3 Comments

Congratulations to Criselda and Keleo on a beautiful Holiday collection! Same time last year, Criselda had a fashion show in celebration of her birthday.  I enjoyed attending both as it reminds me of the old Rustan’s….the Rustan’s I grew up with.  Criselda has been with Rustan’s ever since I was a child and she is one of the few loyal personalities with the company and with the family.

Going to Criselda’s shows is like a reunion!  Everyone seems to know everyone and all are happy to see each other.  They are all so beautiful, so dressed and made up for the special event.  I enjoy seeing many familiar faces who I see in Rustan’s events, some of which are friends of my Lola and family.  All her friends and customers who have become her friends and have been loyal to her,  gather for one evening to support her and of course buy a lot from her beautiful collection.  It is such a nice and heartwarming event!

I was so happy to meet Hans Chong who is now the Director for Keleo.  He is the son of Dennis Chong whom I used to work with when I was still with the Silver Vault.  It is so nice to see that Dennis has passed on his responsibilities to his son.

Hans told me that he likes photography and in fact took the photos of the jewelry for their catalog which are here as well.  ( see below )

Including herewith an article from the Inquirer which I thought was a very beautiful one as it talks about Criselda and how she started and her relationship with Lola Glecy.  I admire her and how she grew with Rustan’s.  And on the personal side, I admire her for standing on her own and enjoying her independence…
