Rustan’s Celebrates the Art of Amorsolo

Rustan’s celebrates the art of Amorsolo with limited special edition shopping bags

The Amorsolo Retrospective and the four-month multi-venue exhibition of the Philippines’ First National Artist’s finest works were officially introduced to the media at the Peninsula Manila Hotel recently. Rustan’s Supermarkets, as one of the proud partners in the staging of His Art, Our Heart, a look at the finest works of Fernando Amorsolo, created exclusive shopping bags in celebration of the retrospective.amorsolo-flyer-front-final.JPG

Inspired by Fernando Amorsolo, who was named National Artist for Painting in 1972 and the first Filipino to be given that distinction, Rustan’s Supermarkets has made the Amorsolo Shopping Bags available to the public as a contribution to the awareness and understanding of Filipino culture and core values as seen in the master’s paintings, illustrations and sketches.

Amorsolo, also called the “Grand Old Man of Philippine Art”, is known for his wide range of subjects – from his idealized female images of the Filipina, scenes of traditional Filipino customs, fiestas and occupations, to his series of historical paintings on pre-Colonial and Spanish Colonization scenes.

The one of a kind Amorsolo bags are available in two sizes, with four (4) original Amorsolo painting designs

Hi, I am an Arts Management student, and I was fascinated with this idea. I know how important it is to appreciate our Filipino artists. The idea that you did inspires me as an art student and of course as a youth. I’m just quite curious on how you were able to make this idea possible, considering the approval of the heirs of our dear Amorsolo.

Hope to hear from you. Thank You
