By | Spas, Travel | One Comment

Across the Avenue Plaza Hotel is Avenue Square with restaurants, shops and other services…..

Most importantly, there is a spa! 🙂 We had no time to try it but I checked it out and I think it will be enough for a quick stay in Naga and it is conveniently located beside the hotel

Avenue Plaza Hotel, Naga

By | Travel | 3 Comments

Dad and Mom went to Naga on a business trip, so we tagged along!  The kids have been wanting to go to CWC to wakeboard!

I saw this hotel from my friend, Dexter’s facebook and I made sure we stayed atleast one night in this hotel in the city. My bestfriend Eds also recommended this hotel.

It was beautiful..like a boutique hotel type.  Not 5 star but very very decent and more than I expected from a small city

Since we were a family with my Dad and Mom, we reserved for two rooms.  But when we got there, Mom was smart to just change it to the Presidential Suite which was the price of our two rooms.  Good thing it was available

It had a living room in between the two rooms

that has a spacious patio

View from the patio- they say that is the house of the owner of the hotel

A kitchen and dining table

The Master Bedroom with a King Bed- the rooms are not that big but they are comfortable enough

avenue-hotel-10.jpgavenue-hotel-14.jpg

The other room which is connecting to the living room – so it was much better since we were all together –

From the patio of the living room, you can see Avenue Square ( a small strip mall owned also by the same owner as the hotel ) – it is the back of the strip mall.  Mom said that maybe they should also have stores/restos in the back side facing the hotel.  The hotel is convenient as it is located beside Avenue Square which has restaurants and a few shops

Swimming Pool area

The room comes with buffet breakfast!

Yaya, You Are Such a Winner!

By | For kids, Workshops | No Comments

Hello friends!  Learningville recognizes the role of caregivers, yayas as we fondly call them, in every Filipino family.  We have to admit that they truly are partners and assets in the development of our children.  It is only right and proper, then, that they be allowed to grow and become more equipped to handle their role and responsibilities.

With this in mind, Learningville offers, “Yaya, You Are Such A Winner!”, a two-part Yaya Development Seminar, aimed at enhancing our children’s yayas’ knowledge and skills in helping us bring up our children.   Attached are our e-flyers with details.  Hope you will allow your yayas to avail of this opportunity and pass it on to other families as well.

Thank you so much!

SWEET NOSTALGIA

 5orla-k.JPG

Orla Kiely welcomes the new season, celebrating the ease and nostalgia of perfect summer’s past with a sweet, sanguine and multi-faceted collection for sultry days ahead.

 2orlak.JPG

Renowned for her characteristically vibrant colour palette, retro-inspired graphic prints and playful approach to design, London-based Orla Kiely has over the last decade created not just a brand, but rather a distinctive and accessible world encompassing womenswear, accessories, travel and home-wares. Spring/Summer 2009 once again salutes the trademark Kiely style – upbeat, fresh and feminine, this season with an irrepressible 70s ‘Summer of Love’ theme throughout her womenswear collection.

1orlak.JPG

Enchanting Patti Boyd-like ensembles come to life as wide-brimmed floppy sun hats and striped jersey’s pair with crochet cashmere cardigans, dream 70s-style denim jeans and modest school-boy shorts. Simple summer dresses in gingham, textured silk and seer-sucker, culottes, silk scarves and light-weight trenches take you back to the romantic not-too-distant past; while beach chic makes waves with 50s-inspired bathing suits, bikinis, super-cute playsuits and pinafores, pleated, gathered and high-waisted tulip skirts alongside the perennial summer favourite – hot-pants.

Colourways follow temperate days with buttercup yellow, rose, raspberry, strawberry and cream, apple green and lavender dominating the fun and frivolous SS09 range, which includes rope-handle shoppers, slouchy perforated leather and multi-button bags. Summer blooms in endless floral prints as sunflowers, poppies, whimsical daisy chains and delicate miniature flowers are scattered alongside nautical stripes and offbeat lovebird, tortoise and elephant motifs.

 4orla-k.JPG

Transcending pervasive fashion whims and trends with her optimistic and independent vision each season, Kiely’s combination of bold, quirky repetitive patterns and pared-back, modern silhouettes in natural fabrics has seen her launch 16 successful flagship stores in locations including London, Paris, Hong Kong and throughout Japan, with a further 500 independent stockists in the US.

Orla Kiely is exclusively available in Rustan’s Makati and Rustan’s Tower.

Short Courses at Enderun Extension

By | Recipes, Workshops | 4 Comments

I was able to take a peek at the new Enderun Campus at Mc Kinley Hill.  It is beautiful!

dsc_4800.JPGdsc_4707.JPGcuisine-of-melakka-3.jpg

Thanks to my Assumption classmate, Tricia Castañeda Tensuan, for inviting me to join one of the culinary courses.  What an experience for me ..though I was not really prepared to do any cooking!  🙂  I am sure many cooks and foodie lovers out there will enjoy the courses here.

As soon as I arrived, they gave me a key to the lockers so I could put down all my things and prepare for the class

cuisine-of-melakka-4.jpg

I was given an envelope with the recipes and an Enderun apron

cuisine-of-melakka-5.jpg

I entered Kitchen Laboratory 1

 dsc_4714.JPG

I was late and class had started.  Wow!  This is my first time to attend a professional culinary course in a Culinary School!  I was so excited! I remember when my Mom would send me and my sister to cooking lessons with Nora Daza when we were kids.  We enjoyed it!

cuisine-of-melakka-7.jpg

The course starts with the instructor/demonstrator doing the actual recipe in front of the class

cuisine-of-melakka-9.jpg

Oops!! It is Chef Thomas Wenger taking a peek at our class.  He was actually holding a class as well in the next door kitchendsc_4744.JPG

Then everyone gets to taste the finished dishes

cuisine-of-melakka-10.jpg

Afterwhich, each one goes to their cooking station!

Wow!  Each one has their own cooking station with their own complete ingredients.  This was my area…

cuisine-of-melakka-12.jpg

Under each station is a chiller to store all the ingredients

cuisine-of-melakka-13.jpg

Thanks to Chef See for helping me out and cooking for me 🙂

cuisine-of-melakka-15.jpgcuisine-of-melakka-17.jpgcuisine-of-melakka-20.jpg

The finished dishes.  Each one gets to cook a complete recipe and then gets to taste it….. and since we cannot finish everything, we get to bring the rest home!!
