Toilets in Japan

Japan is the land of great inventions.  You see so many things you do not see anywhere else.  They make something for everything, for every use and for every need.  One of them are toilets 🙂  They have so many kinds all over the place.

In hotels, some of them even have a heating function so when you sit, the seat is warm and not cold

This one, Krie and I really like from Gonpachi restaurant ( Gonpachi January 5, 2010 ). Since it is a public toilet, we are happy that we can just step on the button on the floor to flush the toilet.  It is more sanitary than using your hands to flush or putting up your legs up high just to flush it with your foot 🙂  I wish all public toilets all over the world were like this

This is another great toilet from Rosetta restaurant.  Krie showed it to me too. When you flush the toilet, water comes out of the faucet 🙂  Never seen this ever before

haha you make me sound like a toilet freak!!! or maybe i am?

you missed one — the ones where you just wave your hands in front of a screen to flush the toilet. that’s probably even better than the button on the floor!!!

next time we go, we should feature the sinks & hand dryers 🙂

    haha! I am a toilet freak 🙂
Oh ya those ones- those are almost everywhere but then sometimes they do not work- you have to keep waving your hand- haha!!! It should actually flush when you stand up or finish – but sometimes it does not.
SInks and hair dryers? hmmmm…. 🙂

Hi Rica! I’m an avid reader of your blog:-) I lived in Japan for 4 years and this entry caught my attention. I’ll give you a sidenote (but you probably already know): the water that comes out of the faucet after you flush is for washing your hands:-) Enjoy the rest of your Japan trip!

Hi Rica, we’ve had these toilets in our homes since more than 10 years ago because of our close Japanese friend. he used to sell it here!

Hi Neng, Yes you are right, it is for washing your hands 🙂 So they actually save on water as it goes into the toilet 🙂
Hi Sandie, yes yes I saw it in your guest bathroom!! 🙂
