The Fusion of Art and Fashion: Longhamp
For Spring/ Summer 2010, Lonchamp is inspired by the world of art, imagining a woman who- in the tradition of legendary muses and collectors- expresses her eclectic passions in a personal style that is innovative, individual and devastatingly chic. As she travels from studio to gallery, museum to art fair, her tastes embrace the season’s two key trends: a romantic theme of dusty pastels and zingy acid brights evokes images of Miami and Capri, while a contemporary theme of graphic contrasts beween intense indigos, vibrant oranges and lacquer reds buzzes with artistic energy of New York and Hong Kong.
Carefree and cosmopolitan, she goes where the mood takes her, by turns model and muse, artist and aesthete. To accompany her through spring, summer and beyond, Longchamp has created a gallery of bags from which she chooses according to her inspiration. Among the highlights are the iconic Gatsby, revisited in the collection’s key colours, exotic finishes and even silkscreen- printed with a painterly motif, and the canvas Expression holdall, a wonderfully witty on the season’s standout paint-splash print, decorated with a spontaneously set patch pocket and labels, and trimmed with fine natural leather.
Romantique Collection: Beige- Celadon
Delicate as porcelain, pale celadon quietly sets off a refined palette of natural beige and flesh tones. Exotic finishes create interesting textural effects, most strikingly a bold viper print on patent calfskin.
Gris- Citrine
Serene and sophisticated in the summer heat, the season’s cool cocktail of grey shades is spiked with a dash of acid bright citrine.
Moka- Lilas
In this deliciously feminine theme, rich dark chocolate and mocha shades are accented by deliate lilac and parma- dusty pastels which capture the season’s romantic mood with sophistication rather than sweetness.
Indigo- Orange
The collection’s graphic inspiration is crystallized in this theme, which contrasts vibrant orange with intense indigo, and features the season’s standout print- spontaneous streaks of colour on a natural beige background, inspired by a painter’s palette.
In the Philippines, Longchamp is available at Rustan’s Makati, Shangri-la Mall and Ayala Center Cebu
