Phillips Academy, Andover

By | Education, For kids, Travel | 4 Comments

The road trip started from New Jersey to Boston ( Boston, Massachusetts July 27, 2010 ) and from Boston we continued our educational tour ( Harvard University July 29, 2010 ) and took a peek at Phillips Andover in Andover.  A beautiful city and a nice environment for kids as it is very safe, a city with many greens, and a place with not too many distractions, therefore conducive to studying.  It was a saturday so there was no classes and no one was around to show us the campus.  So we just drove through

Road Trips

By | Travel | 6 Comments

Heart2Heart loves ROAD TRIPS!  I definitely like it much better than airplanes!  We are lucky to have a patient and very good driver

1.)  We take along our good friend, the GPS, so it is very easy- no need to buy any maps and try to read them. And at any give point if you get lost, it will lead you back on track

Previous Entry:  Never Lost May 2007

2.)  It’s BONDING TIME for the family.  Though the kids always fight and we get into each others nerves….we are forced to stay inside the car and just stay together and learn to deal with each other 🙂  At the end, we have fun and enjoy being together as a family.

3.)  We are always on the lookout for these signs, hoping our favorite fastfood is in the next stop

 6a00d83451b3c669e200e553d6fe608833-800wi.jpg

We like to stop and have breaks in between……. and because of the breaks, the trip does not seem so long after all

We were actually lucky one time, we got lost or made the wrong turn and we ended up seeing a chinese take out place, so we got to eat our rice!! The chinese set meals come with so many things already for a very reasonable price

img_2751.JPGimg_2752.JPGimg_2754.JPGimg_2755.JPG

General Tso’s Chicken! 🙂

img_2756.JPGimg_2759.jpgimg_2760.JPGimg_2761.JPGimg_2762.JPG

4.)  There is lots of beautiful scenery on the way. In a plane you will probably see black scenery or clouds when you look out your window.  In a road trip, everywhere you go is a different landscape and it is so beautiful.  My favorite was this field of sunflowers!  I have always wanted to see this…hoping I could have fresh sunflowers all the time in my home

 img_4147.JPGimg_4150.JPGimg_4148.JPG

5.)  You can stop wherever and whenever you like

6.)   Every trip is an adventure because you do not know where you will be passing and what you will be seeing or where you will have your next meal.

Dining For A Cause

By | Best of, Foodie, Giving Back, Great Achievements, Proud to be Pinoy! | 5 Comments

Heart2Heart has added another angel to its list!  Tita Irene Martel-Francisco, the woman behind The Philippine Tatler and Philippines’ Best Restaurants Book.  I was with Mia Borromeo and she was telling me how much she admires Tita Irene.  She has a wonderful heart, Mia told me.  Mia also mentioned to me that the Tatler Ball which she organizes every year, she gives all the money raised to charity.  She does not even deduct all the expenses she spends for the event…. She spends for the event and everything raised goes to charity.  Wow! Thank you Tita Irene!

img_4691.JPG

Though she already gives back to society with her annual Tatler Ball, she decided this year to give back as well with her other publication, Philippines’ Best Restaurants Book.  The publication is on it’s 7th year and instead of having the usual grand launch for the book, she decided to give the money instead to its beneficiary, Hands On Manila.  At the same time, they have rounded up 64 restaurants to join in the cause and will be giving ten percent of its sales for the week August 13 to the 20th.  So let’s all support Tita Irene and help the kids of Hands on Manila.  If you plan to eat out next week, make sure to take note of the restaurants joining the cause…YOU CAN BE A HERO TO THESE STUDENTS!

Of course, Heart2Heart is not surprised that one of the biggest donors of Hands on Manila is Tessa herself! THANK YOU TESSA!!!

Thank you to all those who made this possible!

Celebrating over 7 years, and saying thank you with our ” favoriti”….we will be closing our doors on August 15….Gaita Fores

By | Foodie, Tributes | One Comment

I heard the news that Pepato was closing…I was so sad!!! But then I also heard, they are moving to a new home…so now I am happy again! Whenever someone asks me where I would like to eat, Pepato will always be on the list!  And before closing their doors on August 15, I made sure my husband took me to visit and have my last meal in that location

pepato2010a.jpgdsc_7528.JPG7yearspepato6.jpg

The great chef behind Pepato.  Heart2Heart likes anything and everything she cooks! and I am sure many others agree with me.  Goodbye kitchen 🙂

dsc_7464.JPG7yearspepato7.jpg7yearspepato8.jpg

I was looking at the menu for a long time….I did not know what to choose!  I like everything!  How can you possibly eat everything in the menu??? Isn’t there a dish called MENU SAMPLER???

While I was browsing the menu, they served me this!!! I LOVE IT!! I ate both and my husband got mad at me for eating his!  🙂

7yearspepato12.jpg

A new appetizer which was really really good using the mille feuille crepes!!  Finally a hot dish using the crepes!! Soooo… good!! And you can buy the mushroom truffle paste which is what you see on top

7yearspepato14.jpg

Since I could not decide…I chose the appetizer trio…I wish they had the whole menu in this portion so i could eat everything 🙂 SERIOUS!  Someone should invent a MENU SAMPLER where you can taste all the dishes in the menu- one bite each!  I WILL ORDER THAT! 🙂

7yearspepato13.jpg

Same with the pasta- I like all the pasta- but had to choose only two ( sounding not contented 🙂 ) YUMMY!!!!

7yearspepato15.jpg

THE BEST AND MY TOP DISH IN THE RESTAURANT which I always have when I am in Pepato. It is the best combination for me

7yearspepato16.jpg

My husband ordered this and I ate from it too of course

7yearspepato17.jpg

And then we had 3 desserts from Gaita! Wow!! We did not say NO! 🙂

Heart2Heart’s favorite gelato flavors

Delightful Treats at Marks & Spencer

By | What's New at Rustan's, Yummy! | One Comment

Marks & Spencer is already known for its sumptuous chocolates and biscuits; still they aim to indulge your taste buds even more.  A selection of bakery delicacies is being offered in stores, from muffins to tubs of sweet pleasures.

 msfood3jpg.jpeg

Have a taste of something delightfully different, the choccocino muffin.   It is a delicious moist coffee muffin loaded with big chunks of creamy milk and indulgently rich dark chocolate.  A pack of 4 costs only P195.00.  Also available are the moist and fluffy blueberry muffin and extremely chocolate muffin loaded with chunks of creamy milk chocolate and richly indulgent dark chocolate.

msfood1jpg.jpeg

Sponge rolls are available in strawberry, chocolate, coffee and cappuccino flavours for only P195 per box.  The pairing of a light golden sponge with strawberry jam and buttercream filling derives total satisfaction.

msfood4jpg.jpeg

If you just need something to munch on, try the tubs of Flapjacks,

msfood2.jpeg

Chocolate Mini Rolls, Chocolate Crunchflakes and Caramel Cracklepops with its chocolate covered nuggets of chewy, caramel-drenched rice puffs.  It is “POPTASTIC”!

msfood5jpg.jpeg

Marks & Spencer’s new bakery line of muffins, sponge rolls, and tubs of sweet munchies are now available in M&S stores at Greenbelt 5, Glorietta 4, Trinoma, Shangri-La mall, SM Megamall, Alabang Town Center and SM Mall of Asia.

My Mom always drags me with her to Salcedo Market ( Window Shopping at the Salcedo Market March 22, 2010) and of course she is the most beautiful one there all dressed up for the occasion with her hat and all which everyone was looking at 🙂 Good thing she plays along as the mom of Heart2Heart and lets me take her photo 🙂
