When we arrived in the airport, I asked Brian our tour guide what other things there was to see in Naga aside from CWC. He mentioned the Hot Springs. I am so glad, Mom decided to push through with the trip!! We love hot springs!! 🙂 Heart2Heart loves nature!! There were not that many people so it was good for us. The place was very clean!

Last year, we visited the ( click below )
Church of Nuestra Señora de Peña de Francia, Naga September 9, 2009
This year, we were able to visit two other churches. One of the reasons Heart2Heart loves Naga is because there is something about the city, the people who are all so warm and hospitable and so respectful and kind. Is it because they are so religious an devoted to the Peñafrancia? I asked our tour guide Brian if the people are religious in Naga and his answer was, if you will notice in every greeting there is always the word “DIYOS” before the greeting. ” Diyos Marhay”
Our Lady of Penafrancia Basilica
Thank you again to Allan Cu for arranging our visit with the bishop and we were able to visit the original Peñafrancia image.
Then the Basilica which is right beside it
You can touch the image of the Miraculous Lady who they call “Ina”
Dedicated to Tita Ina 🙂
There is a hole for you to put your arms in and touch the image from the back of the altar. Heart2Heart prayed for all viewers of Heart2Heart 🙂
Again another place to worship and pray
What beautiful churches they have!
Naga Cathedral
There is a museum beside the Cathedral, no photos really allowed
I should have bought this book!

Last week, we had the chance to visit Salon De Ning
and watched our cousin, Bea, perform. It opened last night to the public, so do visit the place and enjoy a new experience at the Peninsula Hotel

Shanghai, Shoes, Zeppelins, Fantasy Islands and Boxing Amidst Art Deco Decadence
Joining The Peninsula Hotels’ signature collection of exquisite 1930s Shanghainese Art Deco- inspired bars and lounges is Salon de Ning at The Peninsula Manila
Inspired by an elegant private residence from a bygone era, Salon de Ning is an extravagantly unique combination of clubby lounge venue complete with a collection of travel mementoes and objets d’art reflecting the glamorous lifestyle of Madame Ning, a celebrated Shanghai socialite, bon vivant, peripatetic world traveller and international hostess. From Istanbul to Paris, the desert palaces of Rajasthan to the canals of Venice, the Serengeti and beyond, she presided over salons in her many stylish residences around the world, entertaining her friends and guests in a warm and welcoming environment filled with bibelots and precious objects sourced during her many journeys. Her elegant 1930s Manila seaside mansion will inspire the eclectic design of Salon de Ning at The Peninsula Manila.
Upon arrival at Salon de Ning at the Makati Tower Lobby, guests will be greeted by a hostess in an elegant oriental dress with Art Deco details. The entrance will lead to the main lounge with its DJ booth and stage for the resident band, each making certain the dance floor stays lively. Surrounding the main lounge will be five themed rooms decorated with Madame Ning’s intriguing collection of objets and items displaying her varied interests and pursuits.
The first room will be “Le Boxing Room”, a shrine to 1937 World Heavyweight Champion Joe Louis (who was rumoured to have been madly in love with her).
The second room – the “Shoe Room” – with its collection of over a hundred boots, stilettos and sandals, will be her homage to shoemakers who transform ordinary footwear into works of wearable art.
The design of the “Fantasy Island Room” will reveal her fascination with 19th-century science fiction, particularly Jules Verne and his books Around the World in Eighty Days and The Mysterious Island, and space, underwater and air travel before navigable aircraft and practical submarines were invented.
Other themed rooms include the “Zeppelin Room” which is inspired by her long friendship with the German Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin who pioneered the design of the first rigid airships the world had ever seen.
A range of cocktails is available at Salon de Ning, including the signature “Ning Sling”, a refreshing combination featuring Absolut Mandarin and lychee liqueur, garnished with mint leaves and a lychee. Fans of bubbly will love Salon de Ning rosé Champagne, an exclusive label created by Deutz of France for The Peninsula Hotels.
A simple, light Asian-inspired menu will also be available.
Just a few steps from Salon de Ning and a short walk from the famous Lobby, The Bar will be the perfect setting to enjoy a Manila Mango Daiquiri or a quiet smoke in an intimate ambience.
The area will be marked with a Cuban accent. Havana and its shadowy siesta-draped colours will imbue the space with a warm and welcoming mood, while the plush divans and armchairs will invite guests to sit back and relax. A place of honour will be reserved for the jewels of Cuba – the humidor – that will delight cigarillo, Dominican and Cuban aficionados.
“Throughout its 35-year history, our hotel has always embraced the idea of change. We want to give our loyal clientele a new place they could call their own. Salon de Ning and The Bar will be privileged spots, reserved for lovers of wine, food music and art, all highlights of Manila life!”, enthuses Jonathan Crook, General Manager of The Peninsula Manila.
Salon de Ning and The Bar at The Peninsula Manila is designed by Henry Leung, the Hong Kong-based Design Director of Chhada, Siembieda Leung Limited, who has created several Chinese heritage projects for The Peninsula Hotels, and designed Salon de Ning in the style of a traditional Shanghainese “Shikumen” (“stone gate house” in Chinese).

It was so nice to meet the family behind Bigg’s. We have been hearing many good things about it! Carlo Buenaflor is now running the business which his Mom, Tita Nye, started since 1983! Congratulations Carlo and more power to you and your venture! We are looking forward to your expansion plans especially in Manila!
Even if we were so full already, I made sure I tried Bigg’s before leaving Naga. So James and I went before going to the airport and tried a few dishes. Loved the place and loved the food. I wish hey open in Manila!

Javier asked me to bring him to do his christmas registry at Rustan’s!
I left Javier to choose his gifts with the elf and I went to get the registries of our nieces and nephews and did my christmas shopping. The christmas registry makes life easier for all of us in getting the gifts of the kids! It’s the best idea ever!
As I was getting the gifts, I hear Javier calling me and I see him riding a scooter with the salesman around the toy department! It was so funny!!!
Also love the christmas windows which everyone looks forward to every year

It was so nice to have Pam join the family in Naga! And because of her, we met the Buenaflor family. We met one of her best friends who is also named Rica! 🙂
The Buenaflor family invited us over to their farm which is high on top of the mountain and unfortunately we missed the view as we arrived in the evening already and it was dark.
And to my surprise, Rica’s husband is Carlo Buenaflor who I used to work with in Rustan’s long ago when he was still a teenager! Carlo was a Rustan’s YOUNG VIP model!! And I can’t believe that now he has grown so much and is happily married with 5 children!
Thank you Tito Jake and Tita Nye for inviting us to your home!
What a unique dinner we had which they prepared for us! This was our dining table
The plates
and the food!!
We used our hands, but in case of emergency!!!
And the five kids of Carlo and Rica
Happy Birthday Max!!!
And they even had a bonfire for the kids!! What FUN!
Carlo set up some music in the garden 🙂
and the kids enjoying the marshmallows
