Chef Javs Part 2

By | Foodie, For kids | 5 Comments

It’s been almost a year since Heart2Heart featured Chef Javs.

Previous Entry:  Chef Javs Feb 27, 2010

Mommy Heart2Heart is happy to know that Chef Javs is still wanting to be a chef a year after 🙂  and now he is even more passionate as he turns eleven years old today.  Happy Birthday to our little chef!  Thank you to Daddy for supplying the ingredients for Chef Javs! We will encourage him and support him in whatever he wants to be!

After Chef Javs made his Queso de Onion which he cooked for a few friends and family, he has been asking me to promote it and sell it for him in Heart2Heart 🙂

Previous entry:  Cookies for Santa Dec. 26, 2010

Mommy keeps telling Chef Javs to go to cooking school to learn first …meantime, Chef Javs has been making many other inventions and learning on his own from the internet and from his cookbooks.  It’s quite difficult to know when he will be making something so the photos are sometimes too late or taken from a cellphone ( so bear with them ).  What amazes me most is the way he explains to us how he makes each dish.  And it seems he is learning more and more everyday 🙂

Va Bene Pasta Deli

By | Foodie | 4 Comments

James and I were so happy to discover this new restaurant.  It opened late last year but we only noticed it recently, maybe because they had just renovated the Petron in Dasma and somehow it seems brighter now.

img_7165.JPGimg_7140.JPGimg_7145.JPGimg_7142.JPGimg_7143.JPG

And we met the owner and chef, Massimo! He looked so familiar, then we found out he was the chef of Mi Piace at the Peninsula Hotel!  And now he is on his own.  More power to you Massimo!!

img_7149.jpg

The menu is short and simple but everything looked so good

img_7147.jpgimg_7146.jpgimg_7151.JPG

I loved my salad Insalata Dello Chef.  YUM!

img_7153.JPG

Pizza Altaglio ( Square pizza ) – Massimo told us that this is Italy’s version of fastfood pizza by the slice sold in the streets

img_7155.JPG

First time for us to see pasta served this way!  And it was very very good!  He makes his pastas fresh and that is their specialty.  You can peep through the kitchen and watch them make the pasta!! We are looking forward to trying the other pastas!

Seafood Marinara Tagliollini – James loves seafood pasta and this was perfect for him and we liked the black pasta noodles

He sells some Italian items in the restaurant as well so you can take them home

Rare works by Arturo Luz, Fernando Zobel, Fernando Amorsolo, Betsy Westendorp,  Neal Oshima plus 90 others will be made available at the Asian Cultural Council Art Auction  on Saturday, February 5, 4pm at the Finale Art File on Pasong Tamo, Makati. Previews are on February 3 and 4.

Some noted ACCP grantees include Lucrecia Kasilag and Jose Maceda (both national artists for music); Tikoy Aguiluz (noted film maker); Jose Joya (CCP Gawad award and national artist for visual arts) and Alice Reyes (founder of Ballet Philippines) to name a few. The ACC fellowship program has supported over 600 Asian and American artist scholars since its inception.
