Last week, James, Jaime and I went to the Collective to attend Futkalicious
I asked James to bring me along and I am so glad I did!! Heart2Heart discovered another great Filipino in action!!! Peter Amores! It’s amazing what he did, what he is doing and what he is still about to do!! This guy has changed the lives of teenagers from Tondo by playing football in the streets! Since 2006 he has dedicated his time and even financial resources to Futkal.
And when I look at the boys…it makes me feel happy that someone has helped them uplift their lives for the better
[wp_youtube]hzylCAjyDh0[/wp_youtube]
Peter told me that it is not only playing football, but character formation, discipline and education. You have to be sort of certified to be a Futkalero and abide by the rules and discipline being instilled in them
[wp_youtube]PPOBFvSFUkY[/wp_youtube]
Football ( soccer ) is made available to children in exclusive schools, but what Peter is doing is he is introducing the sport to the masses and making more people enjoy the sport!
Peter himself is a good football player and at Futkal they teach soccer in a fun way – see more and watch the video:

Watch some more videos on the Futkaleros

Peter is trying to raise money to reach their goals for 2011
We were so happy to see Dolores and Tito Paquito there that evening, apparently they are and have been sponsors for the kids for quite some time already. Thank you to them for supporting the kids!!!
Its costs only P 13.00 per day per Futkalero. Pls contact Peter if you would also like to help!!!
email him at: amores_peter@yahoo.com or contact him at: 0917-700-2455
Watch out also for the movie, Happyland, which was made around the story of the Futkal. The actors are the real life Futkals

Hackett London’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection puts a contemporary twist on menswear and accessories that hark back to an era when the sartorial demands of the Englishman abroad meant that form and function were equally considered. All of Hackett’s signature details – luxurious quality, timeless design and intelligently considered attention-to-detail – are in evidence and reinforce Hackett’s status as the definitive menswear label for the modern gentleman about town (and country).
Correspondent is inspired by the globetrotting gentleman and the two-tone shoe of the same name, which evokes the basis for the color palette. Warm weather, lightweight suiting comes in cool wool and linen blends with travel as a key influence in the collection; nylon blazers are created from crease-retaining ‘memory’ nylon for relaxed sophistication and regular nylon for a sharp, minimal exterior look which conceals a wealth of interior details.
‘Correspondent’ is best accessorized with casually draped linen scarves, leather-trimmed luggage and vintage-look tortoiseshell glasses for further highlights to bring modernity and authenticity elegantly together.
The Mayfair collection maintains its reputation as Hackett’s premium line and is refreshed for Spring/ Summer through clever use of color and knitwear. The clean lines of the tailoring remain and utilize a traditional color palette of muted classic tones such as navy and a variety of grays. Lighter weight fabrics have been used in accordance with the change of weather for the season. The suiting becomes lifted by a wide variety of ultra fine gauge cotton and cotton/cashmere mix knitwear in summery tones. The Mayfair collection also blends sophisticated, casual sportswear in luxurious fabrics alongside the suiting to broaden the appeal of the story.
Caribbean continues a travel theme in an explosion of color and print. Best described as clothing and swimwear created for ‘island life’ Caribbean has been produced in a rainbow of patterns and solid plains in searing brights and ‘sun-bleached’ pastels.
Prints are key to the swim story in tones from oceanic turquoise and sky blue through to citrus lime, tangerine and exotic fuchsia; florals, seersucker stripes and ginghams appear sharp and fresh or sea-washed. A broad range of cotton and linen trousers and shorts vary in color and texture.
Hackett’s strong connections with the polo world appear with a new beach polo range, a more athletic story, which incorporates insignias and crests associated with the sport.
Taking all of the sartorial elements synonymous with sailing and yachting Nautical ‘re-imagines’ them through clever design and sophisticated reinvention. In a palette of navy and crisp white with accents of red, the story refines nautical style in garments created with only the most luxurious, decadent aspects of boating in mind.
Key pieces include navy double-faced jackets with red linings, horizontal striped blazers, lightweight white suiting and nautical striped polo shirts. Knitwear is strong with sweaters in textured cables, fine basket weaves, Breton-stripes and design details such as shoulder-fastenings. A new range of deck shoes compliments the collection.
Hackett London is exclusively available at Rustan’s Makati and Shangri-la Plaza

Pre Valentine Dinner at Cafe Ysabel February 9, 2010
This time we chose a place nearer to Paolo and Trina, since Trina is on her 6th month, so she is the Queen now 🙂 I hope we can do this every Valentine’s Day
Some pastas are imported and some are homemade
Michael suggested we tried their homemade gnocchi – we tried the one with salmon and it was very good

The new buzz is out! There’s a new shopping hotspot, that’s only a click away. Get the Sweetest Deals everyday at a fraction of the price at Groupon Philippines!
Formally launched at the only place to be seen, Robot Restaurant and Lounge, invited guests got stung by the Queen Bee as Lori Villafuerte, President and Founder of Groupon Philippines, started the buzz that’s happening at the newest online hive.
Guests were greeted by giant plasma screens featuring the Lifestyle League heroes as they help mere mortals like us search for the best deals in the city. They also introduced guests into the most revolutionary innovation in online shopping, going around the room with iPads and at laptop terminals. Guests were treated to servings of Japanese with a twist, compliments of celebrity Chef Niño Laus, as they explored the deals of the day on the website. Hosted by G-man, Gio Salvador, the launch introduced the new website now with even Sweeter Deals for everyone. Guests got their Group-on as they played “If the Deal is Right” with winners receiveing an iPod Touch and other GCs from Groupon’s partner merchants. As an additional treat, two lucky guests received their own iPad to begin their ultimate online shopping experience anytime they want, anywhere they want.
Groupon Philippines, formerly known as Beeconomic Philippines, sheds its bee skin to dawn the new green suit for the website.
Groupon is the pioneer deal-a-day website from Chicago that introduced the ingenious idea of “collective buying,” which offers users huge discounts when buyers band together to purchase an item. The fastest growing site in the world works as a lifestyle city guide, offering a variety of deals to satisfy all markets with a mix of good quality brands and irresistible sweet deals to choose from.
Beeconomic, the Singapore-based site founded by siblings Karl and Christopher Chong, adopted the concept pioneered by Groupon and made them the pioneer in their own country. With her vision of creating a buzz with social commerce in the Philippines, Lori, then Bliss Spa’s Southeast Asia Head, partnered with Karl and co-founded Beeconomic Philippines. Beeconomic was recently acquired by Groupon for its Asian expansion, together with two other Asian group-buying websites, Hong Kong’s uBuyiBuy and Taiwan’s Atlastpost. With the acquisition, Beeconomic Philippines officially became Groupon Philippines on December 2010, a month after its launch in November 2010.
“This is really a very exciting time as we strive to educate our partners and subscribers about the newest form of shopping,” says Lori. In two months since acquisition, the site has grown to 200,000 subscribers. “The numbers just grow by the minute,” she shares. “We are committed in revolutionizing the way people shop and making our subscribers happy with our sweet deals and promising them excellent customer service. This commitment is what makes us stand out,” Lori enthuses.
Swarming in for the launch party were the couple Brent Javier and Karen Pamintuan, Princess of the Road Gaby dela Merced, designer Tippi Ocampo, real estate heiress Divine Lee, Victor Basa, and the Amazing Race Riches Richard Herrera and Richard Hardin. Guests listened to music provided by Video DJ JT Ruiz while sipping their cocktails.
Karen, who was already signed-up in the website is excited to see more deals. “I’m waiting for more travel deals,” she shares. Divine would also love to see more of travel and retail such as clothing. “As of now, I’m availing the spa package! It’s such as steal!” she shares.
When asked for future plans, Lori says, “We aim to make Groupon Philippines a daily fix for today’s shoppers. We want them to wake up each morning and make sure they check Groupon’s site to see what they can do, where they can go, where they can eat, after a long day at work,” The company also plans to expand locally, and regionally. “We want to make our presence in the Asian region really strong. We’d like to acquire more merchants and create sweeter deals for our clients,” Lori adds.
Register now at the Groupon site, www.beeconomic.com.ph and join the newest online buzz! Save your day, one deal at a time and get your shopping on with Groupon Philippines.

Our British ambassadors will be at the forefront of this; there can be no better champion for British business than them.” Mr. David Cameron, Prime Minister for BritainThis appointment follows Ms. Mellon’s award of an OBE last month for services to the fashion Industry and comes on the cusp of the company’s 15th anniversary in 2011.
For Spring Summer 2011, Jimmy Choo heads to Rio. Its tropical climate, glamorous beaches – and characters – sun-bleached colours, and wild carnival nights inspire a collection of hot hues, vibrant fabric mixes, and scaling heel heights. Add to the line-up, a cocktail of Jimmy Choo DNA – animal print, exotic python, sparkling jewels and feel the summer sun.“This season, I wanted to capture a nod to 70’s exoticism and nowhere is that more potent than in Rio. The Cariocas and the urban beach scene they inhabit, the city’s energy, and the cool vibe of the Fasano hotel, Brazil has its own unique, colourful style and it’s every facet of that, which caught my imagination.”Tamara Mellon, OBE, Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Jimmy ChooNowhere is the colour, spirit, and all-out exotica of Rio felt more than in this season’s stellar catwalk collection, where python skins, artesian detailing, voluminous platforms, and sandy-coloured suede sandal boots all pack a powerful punch.
But first to a new mood; welcome to PARKER; Jimmy Choo’s 70’s inspired sleek roomy day bag; in luxurious white leather with minimal ‘hinged’ hardware, and practical front pocket, it’s wholly in keeping with fashion’s turn towards subtlety and perfect for sultry summer days spent poolside
Take OPERA, a multi-strapped ankle gripping decadent sandal crafted from white matt python and zebra-print pony, soaring on a spindly 110mm cigarette heel, and TUBE, Jimmy Choo’s best-selling black gloss elaphe clutch, and soak up the heat.
Volume – studs – scorching colour; introducing – Jimmy Choo’s new, wedges and espadrilles, all sexy riffs of the 70s favourites.
Think of Brazil, think of hothouse colour, exotic skins, and beach-ready essentials. VIENNA is a tricked-out wedge; an ultra-luxe style comprising an array of handiwork where plaiting, tassels, neon python strapping, and blanket-stitched trims collide.
What’s more, it’s boosted up on a cork wedge ‘micro’ sole – voluminous, but surprisingly lightweight. This wonderfully audacious shoe is paired with SCARLET, a go-anywhere slouchy tote made from nude degrade python.
Ideal for beach glamour and city chic, PHEBE is a roomy woven tote in hot, sun-blasted hues.
In the Philippines, Jimmy Choo is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI) and is located at Greenbelt 4, Ayala Center, Makati City.
