Starting school is an important step in a young child’s life. This prompts many parents to ask, “Is my child ready for Big School?” Starting big school can be a stressful experience for children. The days are longer, the buildings are bigger, there are more children and they are the smallest in the playground. Much more is also expected of them in terms of academic skills.
We are very pleased to inform you that we are organizing a discussion as a response to parents’ request and need for some guidance on how they can help their child manage the transition from preschool to primary school or elementary. The talk entitled, “Ready… Set… Big School! A Guide for Parents” will be held on Friday, 11 February 2011 from 4:00 to 5:30 pm at the Everest Academy Administration Building. We are fortunate to have as guest speaker, Mrs. Ma. Carolina “Maricar” Gustilo-de Ocampo. Mrs. de Ocampo earned her master’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education in Bank Street College of Education in New York, USA. She later pursued her studies and earned her PhD in Executive Program in Educational Leadership and Management from De La Salle University. She is a well-known education consultant of many schools. She has given a number of talks on education-related topics to educators and parents.
I encourage all of you to attend this talk. You will gain a better understanding of this big step in your child’s life, and as you understand this important step, you can manage your expectations of our child and at the same time help him/her make this transition as smooth as possible
Hope to see you all then. Please feel free to invite your friends.

It was nice day today at Educare and gifts were given to 400 kids for Valentine’s Day! They probably don’t know what Valentine’s Day is yet, but they will hopefully understand the meaning of LOVE through the sharing and giving from many generous friends who made them happy today

This is how we celebrated Chinese New Year! There is always something to celebrate when it’s Mom! Though this was Tita Margarita’s idea! It was potluck and each of them brought something to share for dinner. How nice and fun!
Everyone was game and came in Chinese outfits! Loved Tita Eva’s headpiece
And Tita Margarita, the organizer of the dinner, came with a rabbit hanging on her neck. She is the funniest!
Dad and his two concubines beside him And of course my two feng shui mates- Margs and Pam!
And Tita Margarita even prepared a beautiful message! Watch the video and listen

Another great foodie night with JC!!! I like how he prepares his dinners. If it’s burritos, it’s just burritos! I can actually concentrate and enjoy the main dish!
Previous Entry: Pulled Pork Sandwich by JC Bernardo January 11, 2011
Lucky foodie friends were also there to enjoy the food- Jinggoy, Carlo, Kat and of course JC’s wife, Fay!
JC always makes it sound and look so easy – but I bet it is not!
Tomato salsa, quesong puti, grated cheddar cheese, guacamole, chili and sour cream, onions and peppers, burrito rice, pita bread, Vande Rose pork butt made into pulled pork and Bryan Flannery skirt steak! IT WAS SOOOO GOOD!!!!
I forgot already whose burrito belongs to who but these were our creations
Yummy buko sherbet!!!! Reminds me of the one from Thailand, so creamy and full of buko! Will feature this separately!
