Diane Von Furstenberg for Gap Kids and Baby Gap

Gap is proud to announce the launch of its first collection by Diane von Furstenberg for GapKids and babyGap for Spring 2012, for girls from newborn to age 14.

Launching exclusively in Gap Shangri-La Plaza and Gap Boniifacio High Street this March, the collection captures the essence of a little girl’s dream wardrobe, as imagined by an icon of American women’s fashion. Diane, alongside the design team at Gap, has created a collection true to her unique style, while her experiences as a mother and grandmother have informed designs that will delight girls and their Moms alike. Iconic prints, signature silhouettes and a bold color palette are translated into magical dresses that aspire to Mommy’s style as well as provide a girl’s Summer wardrobe essentials including easy t-shirt dresses, tanks and shorts, capris, leggings and swimwear. Accessories, including sunglasses, espadrilles and sandals, provide all the wardrobe building blocks that empower a young girl to playfully experiment with her evolving style and individuality, from pretty girlish dresses to rough and tumble essentials.

At the heart of the collection are vintage Diane von Furstenberg prints, including the instantly recognizable hibiscus and leaf motifs. Diane’s signature prints meet Gap’s relaxed style, and are playfully mixed, encouraging young girls to be bold and play with their personal style. The legendary wrap is re-invented with a child-like higher waist detail, in structured cotton or as a jersey romper shape for babies and toddlers.

The dress collection continues with a series of exquisite cotton shift dresses that incorporate print with a refined appliqué daisy detail or delicate layers of cotton voile, as well as an elegant white cotton eyelet style that’s perfect for the Summer months.

At the heart of every collection from Gap, the t-shirt, in pink and heather grey, bears a new Gap DVF motif, that also appears on flip-flops, ballet pumps, jersey tanks, leggings, sun-hats, beach bags, sunglasses and hi-top sneakers,

as well as the lining of one of the star pieces – a navy stripe seersucker blazer, customized with a “Diane von Furstenberg” crest and badges calling out “DVF  Gap” and Diane’s personal mantra “Love is Life.”

For Moms and the youngest babies, vintage prints appear on onesies and rompers.
