My friend, the Queen of Davao :-), Carmina, threw a birthday dinner for Raffy’s 40th birthday! It was a nice evening with Raffy’s closest friends and we are privileged to be part of it
Carmina did all the preparations and set up herself as she does catering as a business in Davao and owns and operates a Thai restaurant there. I am still hoping we could visit her one day in Davao
All the fruits on the table are from the farm of Raffy in Davao. People were eating them for dessert and some were taking them home 🙂 They were very sweet!!
Carmina cooked all the appetizers- Tuna Cilantro on rice crackers
Malagos Cheeses from Davao ( which she actually discovered from Heart2Heart )
Kofta Balls with Mint Yogurt sauce and Chicken Curry pouches
Before dinner, I followed Carmina to the kitchen since they were going to prepare our meal 🙂
Thanks to Ricky ” Goon” Morelos who helped Carmina
Goon is a very good cook and he also accepts order for take out. We really enjoyed his cooking!
Carmina making the Greek Salad
and the sides for the Prime Rib – Truffled Green Bean Casserole
and Potato Gratin
Oh my gosh, and of course our Prime Rib Chef and birthday celebrant also cooked – he made the Prime Rib
Previous entry: Bryan Flannery USDA Prime 4-Rib Roast Dry Aged December 30, 2010
Oh my gosh, even the brother of Carmina, Nilo, was helping out in the kitchen 🙂 Everyone is a chef at the Mapa residence! 🙂
More guests arriving and visiting the kitchen
Cooked by Goon
Kimchi Rice
Pasta with Shrimp and Chipotle
The Birthday celebrant cutting the prime rib for the guests
Super yummy tuna panga!! Goon cooked this as well- two ways – grilled and fried
Desserts were ordered as well from Goon who owns Dulcelin bakeshop

Strawberry Cream Pie, Chocolate Ganache and Banoffee! All were so good, my favorite though was the Banoffee
The very yummy fruits from Raffy’s farm in Davao
and the video Carmina made for Raffy! How sweet! Now James wants me to make a video of him too! 🙂

From my high school batchmate Lally and her friend Rheka who are based in Toronto. This will be perfect for me and for sure for many women all over the world! SIGN UP to start getting your daily newsletter from The Gal’s Got Game
About Us
We are two female technology and media/entertainment executives who strongly believe that women will be more successful at work if they learn to talk sports with men.
As we rose through our respective ladders in mostly male-dominated environments, we have been shut out from conversations in the boardroom, the bar and at the water cooler due to our lack of sports knowledge.
We are strong supporters of female advancement. We are mentors, role models and advocates.
Our mission is to empower women by giving them just enough information needed to demystify the world of men. Life is not fair. Play the game and change it!
Join us in our journey as we navigate the world of professional sports…
The Gal’s Got Game is an online daily newsletter. It is an online resource for women who want to talk sports but don’t have time to read the sports section or watch games. Information is delivered in small doses with a smart, fun tone. It’s “just enough sports” to give you the context of the top sports stories, events and personalities to keep your conversation going.

Pam sent me to go for fitting as I am a secondary sponsor in her wedding and she chose none other than one of her favorite designers.
I was so happy to be visiting my high school batch mate, TC Alvarez-Sibal
Her office!! 🙂
and here she is 🙂
She has a room where all her sewers are. It was a saturday afternoon and they were very busy with lots of work to do
TC’s designs have a lot of embroidery and beadwork and they are all handmade
I took some photos of her works around the office
The fitting room
TC happy to see her creation on my niece who had a dress made for her prom
Just like a princess, Danni was very happy with the dress TC made for her
And these are our dresses for the wedding
Mine in particular 🙂
TC has a shop in Powerplant mall as well and she plans to move her office to Makati which will be more central for her made to order clients. More power to you TC!!! I’m so proud of you!

We had Sunday lunch with my side of the family and when we arrived at Dad and Mom’s place, I could see smoke coming from the garden and smelled barbeque!! I peeped outside the window and saw these guys grilling at the garden!!
I went out and saw the owner, Art Legarde! who is from Negros which explains why he knows some relatives from my Dad’s family. A super nice guy! Apparently Father Caluag brought him over so he could cook for the family.
Art does this as a business and aside from having food stalls in malls called Flavors of Negros.
3rd Level Food Express, Gateway Mall, Quezon City
His catering arm is called Chicken Sarap!
Our special guest for lunch, Lolo Benny 🙂 Father Caluag made sure he was there
Batchoy!
GOSH!!! CHICKEN SKIN CHICHARON!!
That rice is made out of chicken fat! 🙂
Everyone seemed to like the baboy!
The sauces
Condiments for the rice and if you want to add more chicken oil to the chicken inasal
Art told us to put the toppings on the rice 🙂
Give Art a call for your parties or family meals. Very reasonable and very authentic. There is a minimum of P 8,000.00 for him to come over and do your catering
