When we were kids, Dad and Mom would take us with them to Cebu to visit Rustan’s.  My only memory then was Rustan’s and the Siao Family.  Mr. and Mrs. Siao was like our family in Cebu and we loved and still love them 🙂 Â
Together with the rest of their family! Tita Dorothy, Tita Elizabeth, Sandra, Erwin, Tita Margaret and Tita Ellen. Â They are one of the kindest and most loving family that we know! Â Our family is blessed to know them all Â
And this is now their entire family taken during the 50th anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Siao
It was Mrs. Rosario Siao who started the dried mangoes business with one of her friends hence the name R & M.  R for Rosario 🙂  They were the very first ones in the industry and they invented the product till everyone else followed.  They sold domestically and also for export.  Till this day, R & M is the superior brand for Dried Mangoes!
And they have many other products which developed through the years
Here are some photos from the factory. Â Thank you Erwin for sharing this with Heart2Heart! Â Erwin, the only son, is the one running the day to day operations of the business
Thank you Erwin and Frances for sending us these delicious Chocolate dipped dried mangoes!!! Â SUPER YUMMY!!!
And oh my gosh!! WHITE CHOCOLATE my favorite!! SUPER SUPER YUMMY!
Erwin told me that they are still working on the packaging for this product. Â So it is not yet carried in Metro Manila stores but anyone who would love to have it can visit their Guadalupe office there to purchase them. Address is : R & M Preserves Showroom and outlet 441-1 B. V. Rama Ave. Guadalupe, Cebu City
Tel. Nos. 254- 5777 / 254- 5767 to call and reserve ahead. Look for Tata or Jovie.

Heart2Heart is so happy to finally meet Tita Marissa Fernan.  I have been hearing a lot about Tita Marissa from Dad and Mom and finally I see her in person!  Tita Marissa is the big boss of Shoemart Cebu as Vice President of SM Holdings Inc.  I am so honored! 🙂
Tita Marissa took us to Neoneo Grill house!
She knows Dad and Mom loves seafood, so she took us here for lunch. Â Choose your seafood from the front counter of the restaurant
Fresh Oysters! Yum!
They have outdoor seating
But because it was raining, not doable of course 🙂
So we sat indoors with air-conditioning:-)
We had a delicious Filipino lunch! Â

I made sure this time that we would try the BEST PIG EVER! 🙂  I tried Zubuchon when Mom brought home to Manila some.  But I wanted to try it first handÂ
Since Maya was closed, we took the opportunity to choose another place we wanted to go to! Â It was already 2pm and we were so hungry!
Ready for take out
We didn’t beat around the bush and just tried what we came for!  Love the presentation 🙂
We source our pigs from backyard raisers all over the province, are fed 100% organic feeds a week before they are cooked to totally cleanse the pigs’ systems. “Zubuchon” is stuffed with more than a dozen herbs and spices, the pig’s skin is “acupunctured” or pricked all over, then sprayed with fresh coconut water. These processes result to a crispy and brown skin once roasted. No MSG nor soy sauce are used.
The lechon is roasted over charcoal, using bamboo poles.
ZUBUCHON is coined from the words ZUBU (Cebu’s name in old Spanish maps) and LECHON
It was really good!! Though the skin was not so crispy anymore. Â It was our fault for eating a late lunch. Â According to our waiter, the best time to come is when the lechon arrives which is around 1130am for lunch – since we came and ate at almost 230pm, it was not crispy anymore. Â Nevertheless the taste was really really good! Â Â
Our waiter Henry was great! Â We told him about crispy skin….
And he gave us extra skin that was actually crispy! Â YAHOO!!!
Some veggies on the side
