Matrimonials

Another interesting practice in Indian Culture.  They have a Matrimonials classified ads section every Sunday in their newspaper.  They are looking for partners 🙂

One of my colleagues at work said this was how her brother met his wife:). It took a long time for the matchmaker to find a suitable bride and the family couldn’t wait any longer. It’s a long story but a bit unreal at this modern day and age. My colleague met her husband through a matchmaker & she said it was love at first sight! She said the parents these days don’t impose these marriages if one or both parties declined the arrangement.

I don’t think they will have a section like this if it does not work 🙂 Our tour guide Raj told us that many marriages actually work out well in India even if they are arranged. It actually becomes more practical in the long term. Anyway he said that the people involved are still given a choice. If for example they realize they do not want to pursue it, they can change and look for another match
