27th Negros Trade Fair

By | Proud to be Pinoy!, Shopping, What's New at Power Plant Mall | One Comment

Negros Trade Fair goes Beyond Limits

The 27th Negros Trade Fair, the longest-running provincial trade fair organized annually in Metro Manila, will be held from Sept. 26-30, 2012, at the Rockwell Tent in Makati City. Inspired by the theme BEYOND LIMITS, it will feature innovative products from the five sectors of the Association of Negros Producers (ANP): Fashion, Furniture, Gifts & Housewares, Food, and Organic and Natural Products.

When the fair opens, over 70 booths will be selling new and exciting designs in bags, jewelry, fashion accessories, children’s apparel, furniture, home décor pieces, housewares, gift items, organic and natural food and personal care products, packaged Ilonggo delicacies, and hot food for dining. The dining area at the Rockwell Tent has been doubled in size from last year to accommodate more diners.

The 27th Negros Trade Fair will also be highlighted by several events that will entertain visitors and shoppers, as well as offer a feel of the famous Negrense hospitality and penchant for things beautiful. Negros-born Sabrina Artadi, who hosts Sabrina’s Kitchen on the Lifestyle Channel, will have a live cooking demo at the trade fair. The event will be televised and aired in a future edition of Sabrina’s Kitchen.

Arte Negrense is a fashion show to be staged at the Power Plant Mall, featuring clothes, children’s apparel, jewelry, bags, and accessories. Co-presented by BAYO, a leading fashion store whose owners are from Bacolod City, the event will also include as models, residents of Manila who trace roots to Negros, and members of their families. This, to highlight comfort and styling preferred by regular people for everyday wear.

The trade fair will also take on the atmosphere of the Masskara Festival with pulsating dance music, Masskara dancers, a display of masks, and body painting. This will entice shoppers to plan a trip to Bacolod in mid-October to participate in the world-famous Masskara Festival.

For sure, the hot food area will once more attract record diners, with their juicy chicken inasal, pancit molo, and other favorites. But this year’s trade fair will go beyond limits with the provincial government of Negros Occidental promoting lamb cuisine and organic food as part of its aggressive pursuit of food security.

The 27th Negros Trade Fair is a not-for-profit undertaking of the ANP designed to give small and medium entrepreneurs of Negros a window to Manila and beyond. The trade fair will be open to the public from 11a.m. to 9p.m. on Sept. 26 to 28 (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday), and from 10a.m. to 9p.m. on Sept. 29 and 30 (Saturday and Sunday). Entrance fee is P40. For more information on the 27th Negros Trade Fair, call (034)434-1000 or 0922-871-6131. Email at membership@anp-philippines.com, or follow us on Facebook.

 NegMex: Negrense-Mexican Fusion

Negros is flanked by Cebu and Panay, two of the oldest Spanish civilizations in the Philippines. Because of this, to this day, Spanish influence endures in the Negrense culture, from food to language, from fiesta to siesta. Much of the Spanish inspiration in Negros came from the galleon trade between Mexico and the Philippines. This is celebrated at the 27th Negros Trade Fair in TAQUERIA NEGMEX an afternoon reception for embassy spouses to be hosted at Achiote, a Mexican restaurant at the Power Plant Mall, on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 3 p.m. This is fundraising event for the benefit of the Negros Museum.

Taqueria Negmex is part of the 27th Negros Trade Fair, to be held Sept. 26-30 at the Rockwell Tent in Makati City. The afternoon reception will feature food products from members of the Association of Negros Producers. Meanwhile, gifts and housewares, also created by ANP members, will lend a Spanish fiesta feel to the occasion. The presence of embassy spouses will give ANP producers a great opportunity for export trade.

The 27th Negros Trade Fair is a not-for-profit undertaking of the ANP designed to give small and medium entrepreneurs of Negros a window to Manila and beyond. Inspired by the theme BEYOND LIMITS, this year’s trade fair will feature innovative products from the five sectors of the ANP: Fashion, Furniture, Gifts & Housewares, Food, and Organic and Natural Products. When the fair starts on Sept. 26, over 70 booths will be selling new and exciting creations.

The 27th Negros Trade Fair at Rockwell Tent will be open to the public from 11a.m. to 9p.m. on Sept. 26 to 28 (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday), and from 10a.m. to 9p.m. on Sept. 29 and 30 (Saturday and Sunday). Sabrina’s Kitchen at the Negros Trade Fair

pr05-cooking-demo-photo-1.jpeg

The trademark Negrense hospitality always comes packaged with good food. Classic recipes with heavy Spanish influence have been handed down through generations, some have even been preserved and bottled. Because of this obsession for great taste, modern Negrense chefs have also developed fusion food, introducing twists yet preserving what is truly Negrense. Little wonder then why Filipinos from all over the country keep on coming back to Negros, for business or pleasure. It is also one of the most important reasons why visitors and shoppers keep coming back to the Negros Trade Fair, year after year, after year. Because food is central to the Negrense culture, it is one of the product sectors of the Association of Negros Producers (ANP), organizer of the annual event.

This year, popular TV host Sabrina Artadi will spice up the 27th Negros Trade Fair by taping an episode of Sabrina’s Kitchen right at the fair, on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 2p.m. Sabrina, who is from Negros Occidental, hosts her weekly program on the Lifestyle Channel. Exclusively for this event, Sabrina will develop new recipes using Negros food products and McCormick spices, a co-presentor of the event. The new recipes will be revealed as we near the opening at the trade fair. Follow us on Facebook to see what these recipes will be.

TGIF…It’s Masskara Night pr04-masskara-photo-1-masskara-festival-2012-logo.png

Bacolod City’s Masskara Festival is one of the country’s leading festival tourism attractions. Started in the mid-1980s as a distraction from the doldrums of the sugar crisis and the sinking of the M/V Don Juan passenger ship, the Masskara Festival, symbolized by the iconic smiling mask, now attracts tens of thousands of tourists from the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Even at the Philippine Independence Day parade in New York City this year, the Masskara Festival dancers bagged the Championship Crown of the Marchers’ Category. The dancers wore masks designed by Vito Masks, a member of the Association of Negros Producers (ANP), organizer of the 27th Negros Trade Fair.

Makati City will get a taste of the Masskara Festival just days before the world-famous, carnival-inspired event goes into high gear in Bacolod City. TGIF: IT’S MASSKARA NIGHT will delight visitors and shoppers at the 27th Negros Trade Fair at the Rockwell Tent on Friday, Sept. 28, from 4 to 8 p.m. Pulsating, drum-beating rhythm, colorful festival dancers, a display of world-famous masks, and body painting will lend the trade fair exciting festival mood.

The 27th Negros Trade Fair will be held Sept. 26-30 at the Rockwell Tent in Makati City. It is a not-for-profit undertaking of the ANP designed to give small and medium entrepreneurs of Negros a window to Manila and beyond.
