Condura Skyway Marathon 2013 is all Revved up for Race Day

omnibus-logo.jpgcondura-skyway2013-logo-fa-01.jpg

It is all systems go for the premier marathon event in the country, the Condura Skyway Marathon, Run for the Mangroves 2013.   The starting line in Filinvest City Alabang heats up with 14,000 runners on Sunday,  February 3, 2013. It will be the curtain-raiser for the new running year of 2013 – perfect timing for those who are serious in getting back to form after the long series of holidays and merry-making and for those who finally would like to get off that couch and find the fun and fulfilment in running.

Organized by Condura Skyway Marathon’s Founder and Chief Organizing Officer, Ton Concepcion and its running ambassador Patrick Concepcion,  the sixth edition of this much-anticipated yearly race event by runners for runners once again is out to prove that it is worthy of its bid to be the premier running event in Asia Pacific.

This year, the race will have the usual 10k, 21k and full 42k marathon categories plus the new 3.8k, 6k which are especially meant for the fun and adventurous runners who are not yet ready to take on the mid to long distance-races.

By the first hour of February 3, 2013, the Condura Skyway Marathon will again make the Skyway as the runners’ playground.  Originating from the Filinvest City in Alabang, runners of all distances will be taken to the Skyway as a major part of their race route – a major attraction that promises runners of an exclusive, traffic-free, clean and well-lit race environment.

Apart from the challenge and fun that this race has in-store for runners, participating in this race will also mean taking part in the Condura Skyway Marathon advocacy of helping with the reforestation of the Mangroves in Zamboanga de Sibugay in partnership with Philippine Tropical Forest Conservation Foundation (PTFCF) . Each runner through their registration, will get to donate three mangrove seedlings which will be planted in his/her name. In 2012, the first year that Condura Skyway Marathon adopted the

mangroves reforestation project to its cause, a total of 39,000 seedlings have already been planted in Kabasalan Town through runners’ donation. With 14,000 participants this year,  this translates to another 42,000 trees that will make a huge difference in the livelihood of more communities in Zamboanga.

Condura Skyway Marathon is truly a run with a big heart!

condura-run-for-charity-project.jpg548861_574583572557802_400375832_n.jpg

Runners will now have the opportunity to raise pledges for the charities it is supporting. For 2013, the premier running event is proud to support Bikes for Philippines, Hero Foundation, I Can Serve and Liter of Light. Runners can raise pledges of P50 pesos per kilometer and a time bonus of P500 pesos if they hit their time goal. “Our aim is to encourage runners to embrace more causes to better the lives of those in need.  This is our own little way of helping these foundations raise funds so they can continue on with their respective programs and activities. We want to help in making the country a better place – one step at a time,”  says Ton Concepcion.

Beautiful quick dry technical shirts that says “I RAN FOR THE MANGROVES”  and finishers medals designed by Team Manila are at stake for Condura Skyway Marathon participants.

Those who will finish the full mary will be very proud to wear a shirt that beams “I CONQUERED THE SKYWAY!”.

The Pancake House Chronicles by Ria de Jesus Campos

By | Foodie | 4 Comments

Since Pancake House is a regular Saturday affair, I have asked my niece, Ria, to document our last family dinner there.  Just so there is a different tone and angle to our dinner 🙂 Take note, I am like Dina we both like the spaghetti so we love that new tub of spaghetti sauce!

Every Saturday, we go mass in CSA with Dada.

csa.JPG

We used to go to different places after mass but we would always have a hard time deciding where to go. One Saturday someone chose Pancake House (on Pasong Tamo Extension) and it turned out to be a winner, lots of food choices for everyone and Pancake House is always yummy!

pancakehouse-origami-ria.jpg

So it’s become our Saturday tradition. The staff knows us and always reserves the same two tables for us every week (without us calling).

reserved-table-pancake-house.jpg

One of the great things of Pancake House is that there’s so many yummy things to choose from. Then it’s always the perpetual problem of- do i want a pancake/waffle or something with rice or spaghetti? But, it’s pretty cool how we’ve sort of solved that problem.

Choose what you want to eat first, like real food. So one big decision first- tapa

pancake-house-tapa.jpg

or longganisa or tocino?

longganisa-pancake-house-ria.jpg

We have had moments of Uncle James and Uncle John ordering the same thing. Here they are both eating tocino.

pancake-house-dinner-011.jpg

Then Mama always wants to get her spaghetti and shares with Papa. But, there’s something new- you can make Pancake House Spaghetti at home now with their mix! (please note that is one of the regular waiters we have, hi eric! he knows how to pose too)

pancake-house-dinner-013.jpgpancake-house-dinner-014.jpgpancake-house-spaghetti-sauce.jpeg

Dada always gets his usual of the set with spaghetti and burger steak.  Then Ramon and Javier usually are the wild cards and order different stuff depending on their mood.

pancake-house-dinner-06.jpg

I always get a taco and we all eat it as a salad. (Randomly you have to try it with vinegar, I know it sounds weird but it works if you like vinegar, I learned that from my friends Maica and Sophie)

pancake-house-taco.jpgpancake-house-taco-salad.jpg

So, we still have not solved the pancake/waffle issue which we did not order yet- there’s a quick solution to that- we order it for dessert and share:) But of course, it’s always difficult to   narrow it down and we have a short debate- do we want the pancakes or a waffle?!

pancake-house-waffle.jpg

Then, we still have to break it down to what kind or pancake/waffle.

Uncle James and I like the chocolate chip pancakes

pancake-house-peanutbutterpancake.jpg

Ramon and Uncle John like the bacon waffle.  Dada always gets a share with lots of syrup and butter!

dadaspancake.JPG

What makes going to Pancake House something to look forward to every week, aside from to good food is getting to see everyone and have an extra meal together for the week. It used to just be the four of us and Dada and Uncle John. Usually, Uncle Mike joins us before his dinner.  But because it’s become a routine- what’s pretty cool is that anyone who is free for dinner on Saturday shows up. Please see Tita Rica’s blog wherein almost all the de Jesus’ are included (but since I was absent, I get to do this special guest blog)

Previous entry:  Pancake House with Dada December 22, 2012

So far the best Saturday dinner I think I’ve had was  in December when the de Jesus clan invaded Pancake House:)

and because I was absent in the last Pancake House blog, I asked Tita Rica to take my picture with Dada:)
