The Beauty Source Monchet Y Compania Fan

By | What's New at Rustan's | One Comment

The Petal Fan bespoke for Rustans is a classic design with origins to designer Pitoy Moreno, who requested Casa Mercedes to create a fan to match a terno of one its esteemed clients. The fan has been part of the collection for many years.

Monchet y Cia, is a tribute to a family heritage of hand-made abanico fans, using sustainable wood, and embellished with rings and silk tassles. The fan collection bespoke for Rustans is stytlized with the signature accent rib and leaf, which is unique to the Monchet Y Cia boutique line and  is limited in number and kept to the seasonality of color and pattern. Each fan comes in a gold box with the Rustans logo.

Monchet y Compania is the bespoke heritage line of Casa Mercedes, the oldest fan/abanico maker in the Philippines, celebrating its 60th year. Began by three Diokno sisters, Angelita Olives, Mercedes Rovira and Dr. Leonora Casas, the idea to make spanish style fans was inspired by a trip to Madrid in the 1950s. Angelita Olives eventually took over the business from her  siblings, and remains an Olives tradition, with family members pitching in the business.

Casa Mercedes, and its boutique line Monchet y Cia is proud with the collaboration with Rustan’s, as it has provided abanicos to the store since its early days in San Marcelino. The Petal Fan for Rustans, is the second collaboration of MYC, for its “In Good Company” Collection, with the the first being production of the limited edition I CAN SERVE fans to campaign for breast cancer awareness.

Santouka now in Manila

By | Foodie | 2 Comments

Santouka was first introduced to us by Amado Fores.  He told Jaime to try it while we were in Hong Kong and Jaime dragged his Papa to go with him

Previous entry:  Santouka Ramen Hong Kong July 30, 2011

When it opened here in Manila, we knew it sounded familiar and remembered Amado’s recommendation.

We have been hearing about the long lines but we braved it one friday night.  We tried to go early at around 6pm and there was still a line and the restaurant was packed!

The fake food 🙂

Finally we got a table but had to share with others, we requested to be transferred when a booth became available and they gave it to us

I was amazed at the number of staff they have here and they are all alert and standing by the counter watching and making sure everything is okay

We asked about the sizes so the waitress brought us the different sizes of bowls 🙂

James wanted to come here because our brother Mike was raving about this in particular- the pork cheeks

So all three boys had pork cheeks!

So happy they have other things in the menu for people like me 🙂

Heart2Heart loves loves this list made by her niece, Taty!  Love the in between # 4 and # 8 who are her siblings.  Taty is not only an angel by her very angelic looks and actions – but also has an angelic heart! I think this is also a good exercise for kids to do especially now that it is summer vacation for most children – just don’t forget the # 4 and # 8 🙂
