Take the Road Less Travelled with Town & Country

By | Hot Off the Press, Travel | One Comment

Get a copy of the latest Town and Country.  Heart2Heart is there with a Namaste pose 🙂 plus two pages in the Social Network section

 town-and-country-march-issue.JPG

“It’s not our parents’ Town & Country. It’s our Town & Country,” says editor-in-chief Yvette Fernandez. Now embarking on its 6th year, Town & Country Philippines has definitely evolved into the younger, fresher and more dynamic magazine that more people can relate to, truly becoming food for the soul by touching the reader in a multitude of ways.

What’s in store for Town & Country in 2013? “Town & Country continues to celebrate life at its best. Expect even more interesting, in-depth features on smart, dynamic, beautiful women who matter, who excel in their chosen fields, who are making a difference in society. And many more stories on Fabulous Food and luxury travel, the latest in home and design, fashion and gorgeous watches and jewelry, plus activities and products that enhance one’s natural beauty. Then of course there is our regular Culture Top Ten on things to do, see, and experience to feed the soul,” Yvette chides.

In its Luxury Travel issue this March, the magazine features Zelda Kniele and her daughters Stephanie and Jessica, photographed on their most recent holiday in the Serengeti. While exotic destinations are nothing new to the well-traveled Kniele family, this vacation in East Africa proved to be one of the most enriching as they went on twice-daily game drives, hot-air balloon rides; basking in the dramatic sights and magnificent African sun.

 march-2013-cover.jpg

The March issue also gives glimpses into some of the most extraordinary summer destinations as Cecily Mabasa recounts her luxurious trek on the Inca trail to Machu Picchu, all the while staying in four lush mountain lodges, taking in the captivating Soraypampa, conquering the Salkantay pass and feasting on wonderful Peruvian cuisine.

This issue also includes a trip to sandy Morocco with Aerin Lauder as she talks about her debut line bearing her first name only, her preference and aesthetic of effortless simplicity and carrying on her family’s legacy with her wherever she goes.

Town & Country also takes a trip to the not-so-secret private kitchen of TBLS in Hong kong as New York-bred chef Que Vinh Dang dreams up innovative, rave-worthy menus that are meticulously prepared for months in advance. From a bacon and egg risotto with apple wood smoked bacon, poached Taiyouran egg and Parmesan to the Iberico collar and shank with kabocha squash puree, mustard braised cabbage and pork crackling, all of which demonstrating his inexhaustible devotion to his craft and love for food which keeps guests coming back for more.

The March Summer and Travel issue of Town & Country Philippines is available in newsstands and bookstores nationwide. Become a fan of Town & Country on Facebook via Facebook.com/townandcountry.ph.

Happy birthday to Iago!! How fast time flies! It’s obvious how much joy this cute little boy has brought to Gil and Christine!  You cannot imagine what Christine did to document Iago’s first year!!!  Look at this two videos – the first one documents how they celebrated every month and then the second video shows a photo of Iago every single day for one year!!!!  WOW!!!!!!  I could not believe it till I saw it! Amazing! Thank you Gil and Christine for sharing this special occasion with us

What a cute theme!  Dr. Seuss!  Mommy Christine was of course on top of everything.  I particularly liked the donation box instead of a gift idea – Nice one!

Shalizaar Persian Cuisine

By | Foodie, Travel | One Comment

We are so lucky we have a very efficient concierge, our friend Pepe 🙂  We asked him to look for a Persian restaurant for us in the area and he found one for us!! And we loved it!!!

img_9585.JPGimg_9590.JPG

Nice bread basket

img_9589.JPG

You put the mint leaves, radish, walnuts and feta cheese inside the pita bread and roll and eat

img_9592.JPG

A yogurt drink, Doogh, which James was hoping to taste like lassi but it was different – not sweet- it was yogurt with soda, mint and pepper

img_9601.jpg

It’s a different menu from the Persian we expected – they did not have hummus 🙂

img_9593.JPG

Lentil soup of Pepe which he said was very good

img_9599.JPG

Mast – homemade yogurt

img_9596.JPG

Mirza Ghasemi which we figured was Misa Kasemi which we order here in Manila – and it was! YUM!  Good thing they had this

img_9598.JPGimg_9594.JPG

Koobideh for me which was a lot!  I could eat only half of one stick but can eat almost all that rice! haha – good thing I have two boys with me to eat the rest

img_9603.JPG

Barreh which was Lamb – ordered by Pepe- very good too!

img_9607.JPG

Barg which is filet mignon – which the boys liked the best among all

IHOP California

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

We were hearing about the IHOP craze in Manila, so James said he wanted to try it before going home so he can compare the two

 img_9611.JPG

We ordered the Pancake Combo

img_9610.JPGimg_9613.JPG

I like it that the syrups are all on the table and lots of choices too

img_9609.JPG

This came first and it was okay

img_9615.JPG

And then James chose Chocolate Chip pancake

ihop-chocolate-chip-pancake.JPG

They did not give us whipped butter so I asked for some – I do not know if it is a Pancake House thing only- but I want my pancakes with whipped butter 🙂  We hope to get to try IHOP in Manila soon and be able to compare our experience

BJs

By | Foodie, Travel | 2 Comments

Spent a day with my good friend Triccie.  She took me shopping so we did not want to spend too much time eating haha!  So we ate as soon as we saw an eating place near where we were shopping.  This is BJs the restaurant and not the warehouse club 🙂

img_9569.JPG

Here’s my pretty friend 🙂

img_9578.JPG

And yes she ordered salad too!  🙂

img_9582.JPG

I had my buffalo wings!

img_9574.JPG

I tried it differently by ordering the boneless wings – but it tasted like chicken tenders – so maybe best to just order the regular wings

img_9583.JPG

Triccie says they make their own beer – so I took a photo of the menu since I do not really drink beer 🙂

img_9577.jpg

These look good!!
