By | Proud to be Pinoy!, Yummy! | No Comments

One of my best buys in the bazaar of Chef Reggie Aspiras!!  I went back to the booth like three times and could not resist to buy it and try it!

It’s so good and so easy to cook!!!  Just fry and cut!

Qatar Airways

By | Foodie, Travel | One Comment

We took Qatar Airways from Madrid via Doha.  This was our first time to take Qatar Airways and wow, we did not expect such an experience!  Everything that I thought was missing in a flight experience was addressed!  And I realized that there are quite a few of them and yet each detail was taken cared of

The leg room felt like First Class, they had a front pocket to house my laptop bag ( not only my laptop ), compartment for shoes when you change to airline slippers, compartment for the magazines and other paper products and a compartment for the menu and other more things beside you

This tops it all!  Each seat had its own cooler for bottled water! And I liked the signature drink that they had, If I remember correctly it was lychee with lemon and basil

We got three sets of amenities!!  The first half of the flight we got a toiletry bag with Salvatorre Ferragamo toiletries.  Another pouch with the other amenities – toothbrush, blinders, earplugs, socks and hairbrush.  On the second half of the flight we got an additional pouch which had a pajama set!  We never got that in Business Class, what I know is they give that in First Class.

The bathroom was very spacious!! And what I liked was the sink works by sensor!  I wish they did this in all airlines.  They also provide disposable refreshing towels

When we arrived in Doha, we had to take a bus – it was no ordinary bus!  Take note that someone was smiling 🙂  The bus had special chairs which makes that short trip from the plane to the terminal more comfortable!  It’s all in the details!

Qatar Airways has their own transfer terminal where all their transit passengers in Business Class and First Class are housed.  It’s not only the lounge but they have a store for duty free shopping, so don’t worry! 🙂

The First Class and Business Class passengers have a separate lounge though they have common areas like the nursery, cloak room

and the Games room!!  I have never seen a games room like this!  I think many kids will enjoy it here

So happy to bump into friendly faces!! Raj and Kai who are on their way to Northern Spain!! We wanted to go back with them 🙂

The lounge is spacious and was quite full but it was still comfortable.  And they spoil you with so much food and drinks.  It’s like Spirals and Circles buffet! 🙂  They even had a tea bar ala TWG 🙂

And the dining experience is something else!

The menu comes in a leather cover

img_4413.JPG

I missed this note inside the menu but if you will read it carefully – you can order anything in the menu in ANY ORDER and AT ANYTIME!  I did not know this at first.  When I looked at the menu I asked the stewardess which one I could order because usually it says CHOICE OF or OR.  I was shocked when she said YOU CAN ORDER ANYTHING!  I had to clarify and ask her again because I could not believe it 🙂  Normally there is a choice and then many times they will tell you – it’s only the beef left and you end up getting the meal that no one wanted to order!  Then James and I have to choose a different dish so we can try both.  With this feature- who cares what he orders! haha!!  So this feature is a very important feature to me! 🙂  We were happy the food was good, but the concept that they offer is for me SERVICE at its FINEST really.  All the stewardess are so nice.  The purser was Filipina and she was great, I wanted to take her photo but she said it was not allowed

Some Travelling Tips

By | Travel | No Comments

On this trip, I put together some tips 🙂

Put something on your luggage so you can spot it right away without looking at the luggage tag.  Putting red ribbons are very common already.  I liked what Tita Ina did with their luggage – she put red pom poms 🙂

And she sent me pink ones for mine! Yipee! Thank you Tita Ina!  pink-pom-poms.JPG

When we arrived in London last September, I got my luggage and was shocked to see it melted with a hole!!!!

Many things inside were damaged and burned.  I took photos and emailed them proof.  They wanted me to give them receipts for these items but how could I if these were bought long time ago

We reported it to the airlines in their counter and got this slip so we can claim from the airlines

Make sure to keep the luggage tag from the airlines

Someone called us in our hotel and we coordinated the replacement.  They were not able to find the exact same model of Rimowa that I had so we got one ourselves and kept the receipt

Also when in Europe, don’t forget to claim back your VAT

Just shop shop and shop and just send everything by Balikbayan Box, there is an LBC in every major city 🙂

Rastro in Madrid

By | Shopping, Travel | No Comments

I love flea markets – not only for cheap things but for unique items you can’t find elsewhere.  We went at around 10 am and the walkways were wide open, but at around 12 noon, the place was jam packed with people!  So best to go as soon as it opens at 9am!

La Barraca

By | Foodie, Travel | One Comment

We met up with a friend, Sandra, who lives in the city.  We went to another favorite, La Baracca.  Very touristic but we love the paella the way they serve it so we do not have to bother to experiment

Paella Valenciana! YUM!  When we were students in Madrid, we would save up our allowance and celebrate in La Baracca

Make sure to order the Baked Alaska.  Order it already at the start of the meal
