Dining at Pangalusian Island

By | Travel | No Comments

I usually like having unique dining experiences when planning a beach trip – but since I thought we were travelling on a package promo with food included, I did not anymore pursue.  But El Nido resorts can definitely arrange different kinds of dining – On the Sandbar of Snake Island, on a beach island nearby, by the Big Lagoon, by the beach etc etc.

In Pangalusian, there are two permanent place to dine – the Pool Bar and Amianan at the Beach Club

As soon as we arrived in the resort, we had our late lunch at the Pool BarDining at Pangalusian Island (28)

We requested for Panga which was not on the menu!  James wanted to have the same experience we had in Bais but there was a misunderstanding so they served the Pork panga instead of the Tuna Panga.  But anyway it was still okay

Another request of James was Liempo!  James was craving for liempo after having experienced a super sarap liempo from our Tumalog Falls lunch by the waterfalls in Oslob

Pangalusian Island El Nido

By | Accomodations | No Comments

Pangalusian resort is the latest and newest resort of the El Nido group

Map of El Nido Pangalusian resortThere was a resort here before but it burnt down in 1998 and reopened in October 2012 so it’s relatively new.  It’s a good thing we were able to get a booking! In our original plan to stay in Lagen, I requested for them to let us visit Pangalusian but they have a strict policy not to allow visitors to come to the resort.  Anyone can go to Apulit, Miniloc and Lagen, but Pangalusian its more private and exclusivepangalusian island palawan bacuit bayPangalusian Island El Nido (1)

Tell me!! :-)”  And apparently he changed the plans and upgraded our promo to Pangalusian which is the latest El Nido Resort. Palawan is an archipelago of 1,780 islands on the western part of the Philippines. It has the most concentration of islands but is the most sparsely populated region in the country. Because of its scenic landscapes and high bio-diversity, Palawan is known as “The Last Ecological Frontier of the Philippines”.

The northern part of Palawan province is blessed with crystal-clear waters, pristine beaches, and a wealth of flora and fauna. It is here that El Nido and Taytay, home of the lovely El Nido Resorts, are located. Spectacular ancient limestone cliffs tower over marine sanctuaries teeming with innumerable species of tropical fish and coral, as well as five species of endangered sea turtles. Lush forests abound with more than 100 species of birds. It is a truly exotic destination.

Twenty Years and Forever to Go

By | Celebrations | No Comments

Happy 20th Anniversary to the LOVE OF MY LIFE. We met when we were 16 years old and in 4th year high school. We dated for 8 years before we got married for a total of 28 years together. ( More than half our lives! )  I knew when I met James that he was the guy I would want to marry. Everyday I thank the Lord for this blessing.  He provides very well and always makes sure that we have everything we need and will try to always give us the best. We would not know what to do without him.  I love him because there’s never a dull moment with him, he is funny and has a good sense of humour.  He makes me laugh everyday.  He always has a positive attitude for everything, he never makes a bad situation worse, he always knows how to handle the situation and even turn it into a good one. ( In other words, magaleng magbola! 🙂 ) Which is why my life has always been a happy one. The Bible says that after God, the next most important person is your spouse. I’m so lucky He gave me the BEST one. I don’t need anything because I have everything . God blessed me with a good husband who loves me and takes care of me and my two sons. Looking forward to the rest of our lives ( photo by Fritz Tentativa)

10556363_10152573452791872_8719021738089872671_n There was a time when I told James to stop giving me flowers to just save and that it’s not necessary anymore during occasions. We eventually stopped giving gifts to each other on occasions. When Mom found out about this, she pulled me aside and told me that we should never stop gifting each other on occasions. No matter what we should give each other a gift even if it’s small Sometimes Mom gives me advice but doesn’t explain why but then I just follow her. She will just say – Basta just don’t ever stop giving each other gifts So here’s my anniversary gift and yes it’s small. And yes, my Mom always gives good advice

SSI Group, Inc. Brings The Finest Toy Shop in the World to the Philippines

By | What's New at Rustan's | No Comments

Just in time for the happiest season of the year, SSI Group, Inc., the no. 1 specialty retailer in the Philippines, brings the iconic toy brand, Hamleys, to the country with its first store in Central Square, Bonifacio High Street opening on December 20, 2014 at 12:00PM. With over 250 years of experience in bringing smiles and laughter to children, Hamleys Central Square will be witness to familiar smiles and laughter that Hamleys is known and trusted for all over the world.

Growing up in Cornwall, England, William Hamley might have become a tin miner. Or a fisherman. But William had other ideas. He dreamed of opening the best toy shop in the world and in 1760, he did, cramming ‘Noah’s Ark’ with every kind of toy, from rag dolls to tin soldiers. Over the street-sellers’ calls and horses’ hooves ringing on the cobbles, you could just make out the delighted cries of children as they approached the window. By the time Queen Victoria came to the throne in 1837, Hamleys was already a London landmark. Families flocked to William’s ‘Joy Emporium’.

Hamleys Regent Street Historic

So successful was the shop that in 1881 a new branch opened in Regent Street. To cope with the public’s growing appetite for playthings. Hamleys added a further five floors of toys! We can only imagine the spectacle, as toy theatres, puppets, pedal cars and miniature railway trains jostled for space in the largest toy shop in the world.

Hamleys faced hard times in the late 1920s, along with everybody else. In 1931, the picture looked bleak and the shop was forced to close and its fleet of horse-drawn delivery vans was stilled. But this story has a happy ending. Walter Lines, the Chairman of the Tri-Ang company, bought Hamleys and worked hard to bring customers back. In 1938, his efforts were rewarded. Queen Mary gave Hamleys the Royal Warrant! Even being bombed five times during World War II did not stop Hamleys. Wearing tin hats, staff served at the shop entrance, rushing in to collect the toys then handing them over at the door.

The Festival of Britain in 1951 brought a Grand Doll’s Salon as well as a vast model railway to amaze children –and their mothers and fathers. When she came to the throne, Queen Elizabeth II showed she still remembered the toys her grandmother had given her. She in turn gave Hamleys toys to her own children. In 1955, her Majesty honoured Walter Lines with a second Royal Warrant as a ‘Toys and Sports Merchant’. But it was the children’s smiles that truly rewarded Walter Lines and his staff.

Hamleys Regent Street 1960

Arriving back to the present, we find Hamleys in its famous location at 188-196 Regent Street, London, England. Step over the threshold and you enter a world of joy and wonder. Over the squeaking, bleeping, whizzing and chiming of toys, you hear children laughing excitedly as they goggle at the sheer choice over seven floors of toys and games.Hamleys Regent Street - Christmas Today! 2014 v1

The familiar sound of children cheering and giggling would be heard in Central Square now that Hamleys is opening in the Philippines. A second toy shop in the country is set to open next year to bring smiles and laughter to more Filipino children.

From over 250 years ago, the toys may have changed, but the same delighted faces will be seen on anyone who enter the Hamleys toy shop –whether in Regent Street, Central Square or other parts of the world.

Hamleys Regent Street 2012

In the Philippines, Hamleys is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI) – a member of the SSI Group – and will open at Central Square on December 20, 2014.
