From Hawthorne st. you can watch the kitchen window of Benu. Courtyard The background music comes from a turntable by the entrance of the restaurant with the jacket of the record beside so you can see what’s playing- when we arrived Billie Holiday Songs was playing
Our pretty server. Love their uniformsFrom our table – our view of Korean clay pots called Ongi which is used to preserve and ferment. Each has a label. They use to ferment – Sake lees, champagne vinegar, shoyu soy sauce to name a few. My most favourite were the small delicacies – there were 10 of them Bread with fresh butter ( shaped like a honeycomb) with fresh honey infused with ginseng 5-tined fork
They gave us a tour of the kitchen 🙂 A very young and handsome 3 Michelin star Korean Chef Corey Lee of Benu ( American Korean ). The restaurant is only 5 years old. The Tasting menu changes daily and they keep a record of your visit and the menu you had so when you visit again they know what you had. Heart2Heart highly recommends this restaurant
