To get from the road to the camp, you need to take 4X4s to ride the dunes. We supposedly had 4 but they sent us only 3. 
There are options of taking a helicopter or plane to the camp. We took the mini bus which was a bit difficult due to the traveling time. 2 days out of the 4 days were used for driving to and from. I would suggest doing one way via helicopter or plane so it is not too tiring. Or if you plan to take the road, stay 3 nights so it is more relaxing and you are not just traveling half the time.
