All around the Wynn Palace are works of art, antique pieces from Steve Wynn’s personal collection. This is my favorite by Jeff Koons
Jeff Koons created Tulips between 1995 and 2004 as part of his Celebration series, an examination of objects associated with childhood. Enlisting the recognizable form of balloons twisted into the shape of flowers, Koons uses bright colors, shiny reflective surfaces and awe-inspiring scale to allow adults to experience the wide-eyed wonderment of childhood and feel small again. While the sculpture casts the illusion of fragility and weightlessness, it was rendered with over three tons of meticulously sculpted stainless steel.
Koons created five unique versions of Tulips, each featuring a unique arrangement of colors and flowers. Other versions reside at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, and at the Broad Museum in Los Angeles, California, USA.
