My very active batchmate, Yvonne Dayrit Romualdez with Fr. Gerard Deveza who is very close to the Dayrit family and who celebrated the Holy mass for the event.  Yvonne was always a leader- whether it be our class President or the batch President – when we were in Assumption Highschool.

During the Pope’s visit, Yvonne was so lucky to have been able to attend the mass in Tacloban with the Pope!!!!! Good thing she loves us and prayed for us while she was there!!! And it was because of her most touching experience that she and her family decided to help and build homes in Tacloban!

Last month, she was able to build more than her goal of 40 homes through TACLOBBAND a dinner featuring a band that was a victim of Yolanda. They sang for us while we had a wonderful dinner by Chef Jessie Sincioco. God is definitely working through Yvonne who brings us closer to God

Eric De Leon who sang the responsorial psalm during the mass of Pope Francis in Tacloban. He sang for the Tacloband Mass this evening. I requested him to sing the response from that mass with the Pope which he sang in Waray “Lord your word is my spirit and my life” (Ginoo Espiritu ug kinabuhi an imo mga pulong) together with Edwin Espino who was asst to the conductor during the Pope’s mass but had to conduct the choir when the conductor had to go to a shelter to protect the instrument. How lucky they are to have served the Pope during his visit

Our family has been waiting for a project where we could be involved in and help Tacloban after the storm.  I waited and we waited for more than a year for the right project to come along and this came up!  My family entrusted me with their funds and for some reason when I heard about this, I knew this was the one I was waiting for.

We are so happy we can help in our little way.  Representing the 2nd and 3rd generation Tantocos – M. Donnie and Crickette Tantoco, Jaime Pineda who brought Mariel San Agustin and James, Jaime and JavierTacloband (8)

What an interesting dinner we had at Tacloband! Chef Jessie Sincioco – the official chef of Pope Francis while he was here – prepared our kuchinillio dinner!!  A parade of Banana leaves and kuchinillio came out! We thought we were going to eat with our hands  but eventually they gave us utensils!! haha!! Boodle fight!!! Super love this unique dinner

It was because Yvonne was stranded in Tacloban that she met the I love Tacloban band. They are all victims of Yolanda. It must have been fate that Yvonne met them.   The band will be traveling to 6 different countries to raise funds for Tacloban. They performed for TaclobBand and they were amazing

Fr. Gerard Deveza told us the story about how the Sto, Nino answered his prayer and gave him the 1.4 hectare lot in Tacloban to build the houses!! Each house costs P60,000.00 and thanks to Buensalido Architects – Nikki Boncan Buensalido ( daughter of Jackie Dayrit Boncan) – for designing such a beautiful home! How amazing how this family works and joins forces to come up with such a great initiative.
