For Spring/Summer 2017, Gucci launches a series of bag designs that includes several brand new models and fresh versions of three classic styles. All feature the type of decorative treatment that the house has made its own – an eclectic mix of motifs, materials and graphics.
In keeping with creative director Alessandro Michele’s fascination with animals, the key bag design for the season, the Broche, features a shiny brass fox head, with eyes of Swarovski crystal, or pearls. All versions have a distinctive, rich, shiny gold-finished metal chain shoulder strap. A top handle model in shiny, smooth calf leather has a Gucci bamboo handle, referencing a historical feature of the house, and a reptile-skin detail on the flap. Brass studs outline the entire shape. Another top handle version is characterised by a bi-colour petal design on the flap and comes in both snakeskin and GG Supreme material. In addition, lobsters and helm french wire embroidered patches stand out on the surface of this style creating an unexpected complement to the fox heads. Finally, there is a smaller, white shoulder bag with a chain strap and a flap decorated with the petal design, which is here enriched with details in snakeskin. This style features an additional torchon strap.
Undoubtedly, backpacks are enjoying a renaissance at the moment. Gucci launches the techpack – a backpack in the purple Rinascimento brocade featuring a feline head and the House web. Additional models include a small flat drawstring backpack with torchon shoulder strap and frontal pocket in green glazed Rinascimento brocade, embellished with a rich bow covered with yellow Swarovski crystals, and, in a larger size, backpacks that combine different brocades and the application of text reading ‘modern future’. All drawstring backpacks are provided with leather top handles.
As well as new styles, Gucci continues to evolve its classics: the Dionysus comes as a chain bag trimmed with exotic snakeskin and a top handle with bamboo handle and floral motif in stripes; the Sylvie top handle comes in a surprising green jacquard brocade with multi-coloured flowers, and a mini version in white leather with an extra blue-red-white torchon shoulder strap; the GG Marmont now comes as a large briefcase and medium-sized shoulder bag in quilted jacquard brocade, and, in the briefcase style, a quilted leather featuring a trompe l’oeil print.
In the Philippines, Gucci is located at Greenbelt 4 and Shangri-La Plaza East Wing.Follow @ssilifeph on Instagram for more information.
