Congratulations to Ton Concepcion for a successful race! We need more people like Ton who can help make our world a better place. An idea or a desire to help is more meaningful when it becomes a reality and action is taken to implement and achieve that desire. It takes a lot of guts and a lot of hard work to organize an event, and you lead it and you made it all happen!
The race was successful because:
1.) You were able to raise funds to preserve our environment, to save Tubbataha reef
2.) The event created awareness of a beautiful place, nature, and in our very own country
3.) You created a wholesome atmosphere for kids to enjoy and at the same time learn and help save their environment in their small little way. Even pregnant women walked the race…It was a race that everyone who wanted to support the cause could join.
4.) Thousands of people supported and joined the race
5.) And everyone enjoyed!!!

hi rica – thanks again so much for the support. i learned a lot of things this weekend and among the most important is that good things can only happen with peoples support and participation. this is exactly what happened last sunday. i was truly humbled by the support of friends and family as well as all the people that showed up. thank you so much for your kind words and for taking all the pictures. it is this outpouring of support that makes doing events like this truly heart warming. thanks also to tito jun for always encouraging me.
what was also heartwarming was that the runners and their supporters were truly proud of themselves. they felt a great sense of accomplishment waking up, joining their first race and recording their personal best times. and on top of this they did good for our country. truly it was a respite from all the negativism going around these days.
i am so proud of my family and friends who joined and did so well.
a big thanks also goes to nina who helped make this also a family event.

as you can see …so much to be thankful for. as i said an event like this is only as good as the support it gets.

Rica, I took the car to get from one end to the other- by the time I went back to the finish line- I was so late already- so many had finished so fast! Good thing I caught my son Jaime and he was already # 135 among the 3k runners. Please please do not take my photos okay? promise? 🙂
