Bringing Tonkatsuya to Dad

Since we would not fit in Tonkatsuya,

Previous entry:  Tonkatsuya June 18, 2011

I suggested to my brothers and sisters that we just bring Chef Hosoya to the family.  Thank you again to Mykie to organizing everything for us and making this come to life.  So he came over to Dad and Mom’s house to cook for Father’s Day

We provided the japanese rice, the pork and all the dining ware.  They brought everything else

And just to give you an idea of price, we were 16 people.  They charged P 10,000.00 for everything they provided

Salmon Carpaccio Salad – 3 plates of this

Tonkatsu – we provided the pork but everything else they provided and of course Chef cooked it – we each had one of this so 16 plates of Tonkatsu

What a thoughtful gesture to your Dad! Indeed, he deserves this for his utmost devotion to his family, inspiring you in whatever you engage yourselves to do, bringing up James & Javier like his own and to the L’ Embrace sharing with us his spiffy theatre!

Wow!! I look forward to trying the prawns some time. Even in Japan, you would hardly find “head-in” Ebi-fry. Another really special thing about Hosoya-san is he is from Yamagata Prefecture (Northeast of Tokyo…actually not so far from Fukushima!! But don’t worry, he doesn’t use ingredients from there). Food in the provincial areas are usually not as commercialized as in Tokyo or Osaka, so it’s usually better in taste and value!!
It was Hosoya-san’s first catering job in Manila. When I asked him and his wife if he could cook at your house (two days before Father’s day!!), they were a bit hesitant. Then he said, “If you and your friends enjoy my Tonkatsu, then I should take this offer…” Bravo!!

I’m curious…What did Tito Jun drink with his Ebi-fry curry…wine or sake?

  • Mike Ozaeta says:

The only thing I don’t like about him is he’s a Tokyo Giants fan (look at his towel). We are Hanshin Tigers fans, but that’s ok…he makes great Tonkatsu 🙂

Rica, handsome dad, no wonder he has such a beautiful and loving daughter.
