we have been paying our household helpers a minimum of Php4,500 as starting salary regardless of their work.i.e., housemaids, drivers, houseboys since 2000. this includes their SSS and Philhealth contributions.

the Kasambahay Law is a protection not only for our hired household helpers, but also for us their employers. am glad that it is finally implemented. thanks for sharing heart-2-heart! 🙂

Both the employer and kasambahay must be given a month evaluation period.

    For the employer:
    1. He/She must be given the 1 month period to know if the kasambahay possess no illness or
sickness that could not be determine by the medical examination.
    2. He/She must be given the 1 month period to know the general attitude of the kasambahay to
curve misconduct, inefficiency and willful disobedience.
    3. He/She must be given the 1 month period of evaluation to curve unnecessary expense like
    SSS, Pag-ibig and Philheatlh.

    For the kasambahay:
    1. He/She must be given the 1 month period to know also the attitude of the employer.
    2. He/She must be given the 1 month period to know the extent/weight of his/her work. Meaning,
there are household that needs more than 1 kasambahay because the load of works are
    good for 2 kasambahays.

I think, in this manner, both the employer and kasambahay are given the chance to think in the
    spirit of fairness.
