French Women Don’t Get Fat!

By | Health and Fitness, Hot Off the Press | 2 Comments

Thanks to my friend, Mel, for lending me this book!  I love it!!! It means a lot to me when a friend shares something to help you be healthy!

Losing weight and eating healthy has to be a lifestyle and a long term commitment and not just a quick diet.  And this book teaches you to lose weight….. and then what to do after that which is for the rest of your life.  Of course, nothing is ever easy so it all depends on us on how committed we are in achieving our goals.

The book is an easy read and very entertaining as well..you might learn some French even 🙂 Mireille Guillano includes her recipes as well.  By the way, I have already ordered my Cuisipro Donvier Yogurt maker which she recommended so I can have my own homemade yogurt!  I am excited for it to arrive!

Charlie’s Grind and Grill

By | Foodie | 16 Comments

I am so lucky I have friends who always update me on the new eating places!  Thanks to Eliza Drilon-Luna and Sabs Hernandez for texting me!! Eliza had texted me since October last year but I kept delaying because it is a bit far from where I live…but as Sabs said it… IT IS WORTH IT!! Even some people from Alabang go to Kapitolyo to eat in Charlie’s Grind and Grill!

Eliza told me that this place is owned by her friend Hilary and her husband JP who are partners with the owners of Cyma.  The waiter mentioned “Sir Derick” as his boss too.  Thank you guys for bringing us happiness by making good food!  Spread the joy and open in Makati soon! PLEASE!

I like the fact that the menu is short and simple.  We wanted to try everything so we ordered almost everything in the menu and EVERYTHING was good!  Plus value for money!!!

Charlie’s Grind and Grill

16 East Kapitolyo Drive, Kapitolyo Pasig.  Open from 11am to 2 am

There is a car wash beside it 🙂

The place was packed!

Close up of the menu.  I need to try the Chicken burger, the Philly Cheesesteak and the Meatballs! and the MILKSHAKE!   A great reason to go back!

Erica Chao, the owner and Marketing Manager, was there.  He has great visions for the brand and franchising it not only here in the Philippines, but all over the world.  More power to you Eric!

A long time favorite of the family… We always make sure to go here when in Japan.  We went for lunch.  They have a different menu for dinner

Beef Ishiyaki Steak- I remember it being cooked on a real stone like this:

So I do not know why they used a regular cooker…

The steak was still very good!!

Dining in Japan

By | Foodie, Travel | One Comment

When trying to choose a restaurant in Japan, it is not like in Manila where you can go to a Japanese restaurant and find all the kinds of Japanese food all in one place.  In Japan, most of the restaurants specialize in one kind of thing so it will either be a tempura, unagi, ramen, soba, shabu shabu, etc etc restaurant.  So there are times where it is difficult to choose a place that will please a big group of people

Rice Bowl and Soba

Unagi

 japan-foodie-5a.jpgjapan-foodie-6.jpgjapan-foodie-7.jpg

Tonkatsu – this restaurant was recommended by our friend Mykie who studies and lived in Japan.  This is no ordinary tonkatsu because it uses the highest grade of pork – KURUBOTA PORKdsc_8168.JPGdsc_8159.JPG

japan-foodie-8.jpgjapan-foodie-9.jpgjapan-foodie-10.jpgdsc_8169.JPG

Ramen

and gyoza!

japan-foodie-14.jpgjapan-foodie-15.jpg japan-foodie-16a.jpg

Soba – this restaurant had quite an assortment and it had soba to go with mostly everything.  They show how the noodles are made outside the restaurant to attract customers

japan-foodie-17.jpg

What was nice about this place was that they showed the calorie count of every dish in the menu

japan-foodie-18.jpg

Only in Japan!! We normally see photos in the menu, in Japan, you can actually see mock ups of the dishes which look almost real from afar!  So this helps us tourists since we can’t speak Japanese, we just point when we order!  🙂

Togo Shrine Antique Flea Market

By | Classifieds/Segunda Mano, Shopping, Travel | 5 Comments

The main reason we were in the Harajuku area was because we wanted to see the flea market by the Togo Shrine

 flea-market-1a.jpgflea-market-3.jpgflea-market-4.jpgflea-market-5.jpgflea-market-6.jpgflea-market-7.jpgflea-market-8.jpgflea-market-9.jpgflea-market-10.jpgflea-market-11.jpgflea-market-12.jpgflea-market-13.jpgflea-market-14.jpgflea-market-15.jpgflea-market-16.jpgflea-market-17.jpgflea-market-18.jpgflea-market-19.jpgflea-market-20.jpg

Things are not cheap in the market…like this helmet which I spotted and knew my Dad would like…It was going for around 60,000 yen! The black one was 47,000 yen!
