I am so proud of my cousins, Nina Herrera-Huang and Ton Concepcion for joining the ING New York City Marathon, one of the 5 WORLD Marathon Majors. (
Nina finished it in 5 hours 18 minutes and Ton in 4 hours 49 minutes.
Many people wonder why many people join marathons and Nina’s husband and my cousin, Anton had a good way of putting it: “People say that running the NY Marathon is running a personal marathon. 99% of the participants do not do it to compete against the thousands of others that are there struggling to cross the finish line. They are there to endure a life changing exercise, to prove something to themselves or as a form of sacrifice to create awareness for a cause of a loved ones suffering.”
Nina had her own reasons and one of the reasons was FOR A CAUSE which probably gave her more courage and strength to finish the marathon. It all started with her sister, Pinky Herrera-Brady, who first pledged to donate a pair of ADVAN children’s sneakers for every kilometer that she finished. The sneakers will be given as a Christmas present to a Filipino street child supported by Kidsmile Foundation, a charity organization run by Pinky and her friends, Nicole Olbes -Fandiño and Ana de Borja-Araneta. WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!! Nina was able to raise pledges for approx. 2,500 pairs of shoes. In peso amount this comes up to P500,000.YAY KIDSMILE!!! YAY NINA!!!
To read more on Ton’s experience, see his story.
Congratulations to Nina, Ton and the other Philippine representatives, you make us Filipinos proud!

They normally have this sale in the DVA pavillion. Now it will be in the Colegio San Agustin covered court, a much bigger venue. I am assuming it is because the pavillion is too tight already. We joined once and there were really a lot of people. My friend joined as well and she said she was very happy with how much she made considering it was all second hand items she wanted to get rid of. You might want to join either as a vendor or as shopper.

The next level of combat gaming is now here!
After Airsoft and Paintball comes Triassic Tag, a version of Battlefield Live, a new live action combat game using completely safe infra red light technology. Triassic Tag is the first in the country and is Enchanted Kingdom’s latest attraction. The gadgets used in the game are built and developed in
According to Triassic Tag arena Scottish game operator, Ian Meikle, the infra-red technology makes the game a fun and safe game to play for everybody. Meikle, a former engineer of the British Army, Corps of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (R.E.M.E.) for over 15 years remarks, “There are NO physical missiles that can hurt players. Players consistently comment that they had more fun than expected.” “Nothing comes closer to real combat battle than this,” adds Ian, who was also trained in unarmed combat, jungle warfare, winter survival, and winter warfare. “The weapons fire a high velocity infra red light bullet (pulse) that is detected by sensors worn on the head and on the gun. When players are hit, the gun makes a loud noise, the sensors flash and indicates that the player loses a “life.” Each player is given five lives, although the guns can be set for different numbers of lives. The weapon also displays ammunition left,” says Peter Stevens, Operations Director of Triassic Tag and a former Senior Superintendent of the Royal Hong Kong Police Force for 21 years. In the game played most commonly called, “Death Match,” once a player has been hit five times, the gun makes a louder noise and turns off, preventing cheating. The player then needs to go back to the team referee for re-spawning (resetting) of the gun, so that the player can go back and re-join the game. The team that loses the least number of lives wins.
“The game guarantees minutes of adrenaline-pumping action that is definitely something new for the park guests, the excitement actually stays with you,” adds Peter.

Thanks to Pael and Yvonne for introducing to us this ENCHANTING place!
Our group wanted to go somewhere we have never been to and this was a great choice! There are only 12 rooms and we used up 6 rooms so we practically had the place to ourselves. It was like our own private resort. It is only 5,000 sq. meters and from any part of the resort, you can see almost everything going on so it was easy to track the kids playing around.
Ananyana will always bring back good memories for all of us.

THE YOUNG MUSICIANS DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION
We went to Bohol over the weekend and did the tour that everyone takes.
I was wondering why during my inquiries among friends and family about Bohol tours, no one ever mentioned the man made forest full of mahogany trees planted by the boy scouts in 1956. This was my favorite among all. It was beautiful just driving through it and standing in the middle of all the tall trees. Something maybe you will see abroad but something I have not seen in the Philippines ever yet.
Then the rest of the tour…………………………
