Arrived at our hotel in Bagan – Aureum Hotel and Resort

Beautiful view of the pool from the lobby with a view of pagodas till your eyes can see!!! There used to be 7,000 pagodas in Bagan but now it’s down to 2,500 – still a lot

There are five kinds of villas in Aureum Palace Bagan – Island Villa, Palm Tree villa, Lotus villa, Orchid Villa and Jasmine. Then there are deluxe rooms. So peaceful and beautiful
Lotus villa
Love the “do not disturb” sign and “make up room” which is hand carved wood then you hang on the hand of the figure in your wood carved door

View from the Watch Tower of the resort. If you are staying at this resort, your entry to the watch tower is included and is a MUST SEE!

We flew via Bangkok to Yangon, arrived evening and stayed overnight in Yangon for an early flight to Bagan the next day. We arrived in our resort in Bagan, Aureum Palace and Hotel, and had lunch in Xanadu
The food was good in the resort. I remember hotel food to be the best in Myanmar. They had a wide variety of food to choose from Asian to Continental. I recommend for you to just eat in the hotel unless you have a restaurant recommendation

Risotto 🙂 which my dad liked very much
This is a very traditional breakfast dish and it was very good!

We had a very serious 🙂 meeting with Inés Delgado Prieto of Eastern Crossings Bespoke Travel Adventures for our new adventure! The last time we were talking to Inés it was for our India Trip and we loved it!!

She organizes the trips of the Asia Society and many other families and groups. She warned us that we will be on the move this trip…. In other words, this is not going to be a vacation :-O
Love travelling to new places!!
Some tips from Ines – Some additional ones from me 🙂
Cellphones: There is already Globe signal in Myanmar
Footwear: Bring slippers for Bagan Temple hopping and most places in Myanmar – all kinds 🙂 People there just wear slippers because they go in and out of temples and even sometimes in the office they remove their footwear. It is acceptable to just wear slippers
Wet wipes to wipe your feet since you will be going in and out of temples with no shoes. Our bus and tour guide provided this but in case bring your own
