Father Gabe said something so nice for the blessing. He said that When you invite a priest to your house, your resto or to anything. You put God in the center of your lives.  When you bless a place, you bring the presence of the lord – therefore you feel LOVE, unity, joy, tranquility and peace. And when you go out of that place, you share the presence of the Lord and those same feelings of LOVE and you become a source of blessing for others too. You also rid the place of evil spirits and anything negative. So beautiful Blessing of Aruga Cafe (22)

GUCCI SPRING SUMMER 2015 ACCESSORIES

By | SSI Group Inc | No Comments

The Spring Summer 2015 Collection is at one with the Gucci man’s two sides. First, his rock ‘n roll instincts. Eccentric, bohemian, free spirited. At the same time, his love for jet-setting, his innate elegance and his passion for aristocratic sports. Inspired by the nautical seascape, the collection brings an opulent, rock, and often decadent style to his wardrobe. Gucci’s codes of luxury give way to new techniques and techno materials, with unexpected and precious detailing. The season’s standout protagonist, the cross-body bag, boldly outlines the silhouette.

ACCESSORIES

Ultra luxurious. The accessories bring out the collection’s relaxed elegance. Recalling the sailing sack, messenger bags in calfskin, crocodile, or canvas. With a maxi monochrome or striped cross-body strap. Alongside the boating sneaker, the horsebit loafer returns this season, most notably in white-washed crocodile. The striped foulard, knotted metal bracelets worked like rope, and beaded necklaces hint at the Gucci man’s nonchalance and bohemian instincts.Gucci Spring Summer 2015 Accessories (5)

The elegant and sophisticated woman from last winter now has an even stronger prerogative. Dressing to please herself first and foremost. Summer gives way to her ironic, individualist, eccentric spirit. Defiant when it comes to seasonal conventions, for Spring Summer 2015 the Gucci woman takes pleasure in irreverently mixing her favorite pieces. Clean, sharp lines, juxtaposed with prints, embroidery, and fur vests. For a kaleidoscopic glamour.Gucci Spring Summer 2015 Accessories (3)Gucci Spring Summer 2015 Accessories (6)

Gucci Spring Summer 2015 Accessories (4)Gucci Spring Summer 2015 Accessories (7)SILHOUETTE and MATERIALS

Deluxe patchwork. Crisp, geometric lines characterize the collection while undergoing a reinvention with the use of suede, denim, leather, embroidery, and decorative detailing. In monochromatic hues or exotic prints. Dresses are either mini or below the knee and form fitting with a slit. In solid colors, with ton-sur-ton or contrast stitching. Even printed. Occasionally featuring nautical hints. Outlined by micro beading, the denim dress features a plunging neckline with a maxi lace-up closure. This neckline also seals embroidered dresses and tops that recall the eyelets of broderie anglaise. In leather or fabric including printed silk. Wide-leg, low-waisted pants feature calf-length cuffs. In white cotton or denim and suede. Often featuring golden marine buttons. Also seen on the jean jacket and knitwear. The suede trench and skirt accentuate the waistline. Python for the jacket and skirt pairing. Outerwear comes in the shape of the boxy, masculine jacket with braiding or trench-style jackets that follow the lines of the body. The collection’s distinctive juxtaposition of prints, materials, detailing, and embroideries becomes three-dimensional with the use of fur. For vests and short jackets preciously overlapping python, goat, Mongolian lamb, fox, suede, and studding.

COLORS

Pearl white acts as a prelude to intensities of orange, bordeaux, blue, green. Monochromatic or paired on prints. On ready-to-wear and accessories.

EVENING

Precious romanticism. The intricately embroidered mini dress again replaces the gown. Daytime’s irreverent streak turns into a poetic mood for cocktail dresses with subtle prints, embellished by couture-style micro embroideries. A glimpse of the Orient.

ACCESSORIES

Relaxed yet chic. The new version of the Jackie Soft is the protagonist – the bucket bag and the messenger bag in two sizes, with its maxi shoulder strap in canvas. In unlined calfskin, crocodile, and suede. Echoing the colors of the collection. The maxi shoulder strap, striped with the web colors, also characterizes the structured bag with the horsebit closure. In hand-daubed leather or suede. Chunky heels for sandals, ankle boots, and boots. In suede, calfskin, and python. Round or pilot shaped, sunglasses feature tortoise shell frames. Horsebit designs for the silver bracelet or small chains.

Love the interiors of Edades Tower in Rockwell 🙂

Edades Tower and Garden Villas is the latest addition to the growing community in Rockwell Center. Named after Victorio Edades, the father of modern and unconventional Filipino art, this iconic 50-storey residential tower will rise across the Amorsolo Square, the first of four prominent residential towers of the West Block ( from their website )

She caters and can prepare party platters as well. Located by the tutor street  in Little BaguioSegovia's Cakes and Recipes by Carmen Segovia (26)

I am so glad I got to meet the lady behind all the yummy things here!!! Thank you to CJ Jesena who is her cousin.  I made sure that i met her when Margie and I went to visit so I could talk to her!   The lady behind the “Edu Manzano Mamon” I featured recently.

Previous entry:  Special Delivery Segovia Mamon  March 7, 2015

The place is called Segovia’s Cakes & Recipes and the owner is Carmen Segovia.

Check out the goodies behind her – ensaymada, Mamon and cheese roll. She was already cooking and baking since she was Grade 3! She started her business after graduating in 1983. She is very hands on that even to the last step of wrapping the Mamon she is the one doing it. That is proof that her food is made with LOVE. Last year she found out she had cancer and she is presently undergoing radiation treatment. ????Yet when I met her yesterday she looks and sounds very happy, she’s energetic and always wanting to bake and cook. I’m so blessed to have met her. For Heart2Heart it’s always important to know the people behind a product or business. And when you know them and how much passion and LOVE they put into it, it just makes a world of difference. And you will see it in every dish that Carmen serves in her place – look for her when you visit Segovia’s. Segovia's Cakes and Recipes by Carmen Segovia (22)

Thats it and this table which I love.  It has comics on the table which is from Carmen’s collectionSegovia's Cakes and Recipes by Carmen Segovia (4)

The Special Segovia Mamon (“Edu Manzano Mamon) which Carmen Segovia lovingly makes herself. Everyone is telling her to teach someone in case something happens but she refused because she says it might not be the same! When she cannot bake it for some reason there will be no supply of Mamon. She used to have a sign outside the gate for the Mamon but she had to remove it because customers would get mad when they would run out! I tried it yesterday fresh and not microwaved and it was so so good!

Apparently according to my friend Jill her connection is Raquel who is the bestfriend of Carmen Segovia and she sits there behind the counter 🙂 So that’s a tip aside from name dropping Edu Manzano 🙂

Segovia's Cakes and Recipes by Carmen Segovia (6)

Thank you Jill and Margie for the box of Mamon which they ordered and gave me!!  I  LOVE  it even more because I met the wonderful woman who makes it.  My tip: It’s always best to order it in advance to be sure and the ensaymada and cheese rolls are worth ordering too.

She told me she uses the best and cleanest ingredients here so be assured of the quality of this dishSegovia's Cakes and Recipes by Carmen Segovia (21)

OMG! This is the best Chicken salad sandwich I have ever tasted in my entire life! The bread is so thick but it’s fluffy and so it’s not that filling and it’s so yummy!!!! Carmen please sell the bread on its own also for sure it will sell!!! It has slices of apple  in it and cheese.

Segovia's Cakes and Recipes by Carmen Segovia (23)

CJ  told me that Chef Reggie Aspiras wrote about this in 2011 and it has been a bestseller ever since. Carmen keeps this article posted on her wall behind the counter 🙂

If you have not tried it yet it’s worth trekking to Little Baguio to have it freshly made! Don’t go during school dismissal or drop off because it can get traffic in the area. School will be out soon so best time is summer time.   You can also order it as a party tray together with her other sandwiches!! She says the hot and spicy tuna sandwich is also good! Definitely made with LOVE

So hard to say goodbye when we have so much to talk about 🙂  Till the next time

STAMP DESIGN COMPETITION TO HONOR THE ULTIMATE CULINARY ARTIST: TERESITA “MAMA SITA” REYES

By | Proud to be Pinoy! | No Comments

YMV & Associates Inc. - Mama Sita's Stamp Design Competition (2)

Her life story, though oft-told, has been repeated time and again as a means to encourage the ordinary Filipino to rise above their circumstance and achieve the same significance and distinction that thiswoman has accomplished.

Born in Manila on May 11, 1917, Teresita “Mama Sita” Reyes learned exceptional housekeeping, marketing and cooking early in life. As the eldest girl in a family of 12 children, she had to help her mother cook and care for their big family. She travelled to Divisoria early to market. From her mother, she got acquainted with all sorts of vendors—from vegetable and food hawkers, fish mongers, butchers, and sellers of rice cakes and other delicacies.

From her mother and from her daily encounters with the ordinary folk, Mama Sita learned how to combine ingredients to create the wonderful flavors of native Philippine cuisine. Her inherent sense in cooking allowed her to experiment and concoct her own wonderful flavors. Having become a mother to a large family herself, Mama Sita found inspiration to cook and invent various culinary treats. It was during her travels abroad that Mama Sita was inspired in sharing the flavors of the Philippines. She has always believed Filipino cooking is at par with the world’s best cuisines.

Stamp Design Poster 16x20in v3Mama Sita’s Story… Through Art

In celebration of the life and times of Teresita “Mama Sita” Reyes, and in honor of her contribution and continued influence in the propagation of authentic Philippine cuisine, a series of commemorative stamps was initiated beginning March of 2013. The effort proved an effective way to preserve her legacy and stress her advocacy to champion indigenous Filipino culture.

This year, the Mama Sita Foundation is spearheading the creation of the Mama Sita

commemorative stamps through the “Mama Sita Stamp Design Competition”. The competition, apart from creating an image representative of Mama Sita worthy to be reproduced as a commemorative stamp, also hopes to encourage the creativity of Filipino art students, professional artists and art enthusiasts.

Theme & Criteria

Artworks submitted for the competition should communicate Mama Sita’s image as well as her contributions to the propagation of Filipino culinary culture. A brief explanation should accompany the entry. The competition, open to all high school and art students, artists, and art enthusiasts, accepts all art media types except digital art and photography.

Entries to the “Mama Sita Stamp Design Competition” may be sent through e-mail, scanned or photographed, to info@msita.com. They may also be submitted to the Mama Sita Foundation at 131 F. Manalo St., San Juan, Metro Manila, complete with contact details. Deadline for submission is May 1, 2015. More contest details are available at the Mama Sita website: www.msita.com.

My date for today Margie Abary Duavit.  Our ever reliable batch mate who is so dependable and always so generous whether it be a donation or to lend a helping hand, to volunteer for anything including her house if we need a venue , volunteer to set up a relief center to pack goods for typhoon victims. Not to forget to mention that she’s the supportive wife of ex Congressman Jack Duavit .   She’s just a super trooper – so kind and full of  love.
