The Dead Sea, the lowest point of earth (1,373 ft below sea level) and the largest “natural spa” in the world.
I asked Fr. Michael if there is any religious implication in the Dead Sea and he said none. It was the Red Sea that was in the bible. But Father just put a beautiful meaning in our Dead Sea experience today. Listen to the video. And as Pam @pamelarosario says, “we are bounded for life” because we floated together in the Dead Sea! A once in a lifetime experience I would never have given up even if maybe it was a bit inconvenient or out of our comfort zone. We went in through the Crowne Plaza hotel @crowneplaza which was more private. Dead Sea
* The Dead Sea is not actually a sea but a lake. The beach is very different from a typical beach. There is no sand and the shores consist of a thick layer of crystals that are not particularly soft on the feet. Instead of cool and refreshing water, the water feels thick and warm, almost a little oily from all the minerals it contains.
* Dead Sea water is almost 10 times saltier than that of a typical sea.
* The water is so rich in minerals that they can cause a lot of pain should you have any cuts or open wounds. It’s not recommended to shave before your visit to the Dead Sea
* The only safe way to swim here is on your back. Splashing water in your eyes can sting. Avoid getting your face wet at all times.
* Staying in the water for more than 10 minutes is not recommended. You can get out and go back in, but each time should not be longer than 10 minutes. Rinse off with regular water as soon as you get out.
* Waterproof cameras or mobile phones are not safe in the extremely salty water. Keep all electronics away from the water. #deadseajordan #jordan #h2hjordan #h2hholyland
CHRISTMAS CONCERT AT THE PEN 2019 GOES TO THE MOVIES
The Peninsula Manila, SSI Group, Inc., Philippine Tatler, and HSBC usher in the holiday season with music from well-loved movies that headlines the talents of Gerphil Flores, Miguel Lobato, the UST Singers, and Coke Bolipata, with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Ruggero Barbieri.
This holiday season, The Peninsula Manila Lobby will be drawing in record crowds to its annual Christmas Concert at The Pen with a repertoire celebrating music and songs from some of the most beloved movies of all time. This is a heritage production of The Peninsula Manila along with partners SSI Group Inc., Philippine Tatler, and Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) in cooperation with co-sponsors the Cultural Center of the Philippines and Lexus Philippines.
Christmas Concert at The Pen – one of the most enduring holiday traditions in Metro Manila – will take place on Sunday, December 8, 2019 with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) under guest conductor Maestro Ruggero Barbieri striking up music at 5:00 pm
This concert doubles as a fundraiser for the Hope for the Philippines advocacy of the hotel that continues to benefit the educational and livelihood projects of families living in The Peninsula – Gawad Kalinga (GK) Village in Tanauan, Leyte.
The 2019 line-up stars Gerphil Flores who was dubbed “Asia’s Golden Girl” for winning accolades in the inaugural season of Asia’s Got Talent before joining 16-time Grammy-award-winning musician, record producer, composer, songwriter, and arranger David Foster on his David Foster and Friends Asian Tour in 2015 and 2016.
Also featured are Spanish tenor Miguel Lobato as well as one of the world’s best choirs, the University of Santo Tomas Singers. Freddie Santos is the concert director.
Another guest artist at this year’s concert is one of the country’s leading violinists, Coke Bolipata. He will perform the violin solo from Cinema Paradiso.
“Part of our holiday musical repertoire this year includes music from The Godfather, Evita, Ben Hur, the James Bond series, Wizard of Oz, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and many others played live by the PPO,” says The Peninsula Manila General Manager Mr. Masahisa Oba. “I am sure this will add a new energy to the concert and will engage our guests and patrons in a different way, allowing them to realize how key music is to a film. Of course, we haven’t forgotten to include Christmas carols to this year’s concert. This is our Pamaskong handog, after all.”
There is a P2,300 consumable fee per person (with a set festive merienda) or P32,000 for a table of 10 (with a set festive merienda menu and two bottles of Moët & Chandon Champagne).
Reservations will be accepted for tables of 10 (ten). Prices are in Philippine Peso which include VAT, a 10% service charge, and applicable local taxes

Rustan’s celebrates Filipino art this Christmas season with
‘Offerings’, a collection of mementos and objets for the home honoring the work of Anita Magsaysay-Ho.
After several successful collections of art objets for the home by Filipino artists Ben Cabrera, Al Perez, Paulina Luz Sotto, Fernando Amorsolo and Arturo Luz, Rustan’s is pleased to present ‘Offerings”, a collection of mementoes and objets for the home honouring the work of Anita Magsaysay Ho.
The collection includes art that Anita painted on three plates during the period she lived in Tokyo, reproduced in limited edition by Bernardaud. Other pieces in the collection include artwork applied onto beautifully crafted boxes, and drawings embroidered on cushion covers and napkins.
Anita always said that art should be available for everyone. Thus, the collection also includes giclee reproductions of selected artwork on paper. There will be a collection of Christmas and stationary cards, with images celebrating the Christmas season.
‘Offerings’, will be launched on November 20, 2019, at the 4th Floor of Rustan’s Makati. Beginning January 2020, the collection will be available at Rustan’s Alabang Town Center, Gateway, Shangri-La Plaza, and Cebu.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the collection will be donated to the Anita-Magsaysay Ho Foundation which provides scholarships to deserving students and supports organizations promoting art and culture.
About Rustan’s For The Arts
Rustan’s founders, Bienvenido and Gliceria Tantoco were dedicated to promoting and supporting Filipino art and culture throughout her life. Mrs. Tantoco was very involved with the founding initiatives of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra and Mr. Tantoco was the founding President of the Metropolitan Museum of the Philippines. Rustan’s later formed the Galerie Bleue.
With this as the inspiration, Rustan’s For the Arts aims to make the works of great Filipino artists a part of our daily lives.
Rustan’s first collaboration was with National Artist for Visual Arts Benedicto “BenCab” Cabrera where his works of art were translated to home objets; celebrated the creations of Al Perez and Paulina Luz Sotto; followed by the Philippines’ first National Artist Fernando Amorsolo, producing exclusive, limited-edition home pieces inspired by his iconic artworks; and unveiled a generation of art with an exciting showcase of talent in partnership with National Artist for Visual Arts Arturo Luz and his granddaughter, in her second collaboration with Rustan’s, Paulina Luz Sotto.
