Chie Gatchalian gave a short talk on wines and wine pairing

wine-and-cheese-night-024.jpg36335_165595933579754_1421168421_n.jpg

1. Salty food- pair with full bodied, tannic wines (ex. Cabernet Sauvignon); salt in food softens tannins in wine

2. Fatty or fried food- pair with a dry, acidic white wine (ex Sauvignon Blanc); acid cuts through the grease lessening the “umay” factor

3. Savoury or Umami rich food- pair with a fruity wine (ex Beaujolais nouveau) to complement the “linamnam” in the food and not overpower it

4. Sweets/Desserts- pair with sweet wines to perfectly match it.

5. Mildly spicy food- good with sweet wines or juicy wines to counteract the spice (ex Riesling).

Of course, what else goes with wine, but Cheese! Yum 🙂

After Fathepur Sikri, we drove on the way to our next stop, Jaipur.  The place we wanted to have lunch in was full so we were brought here by our tour guide.  This lunch was included already in the packagegulmohar-restaurant-01.jpggulmohar-restaurant-02.jpggulmohar-restaurant-03.jpggulmohar-restaurant-04.jpggulmohar-restaurant-05.jpggulmohar-restaurant-06.jpggulmohar-restaurant-09.jpggulmohar-restaurant-010.jpggulmohar-restaurant-012.jpggulmohar-restaurant-013.jpggulmohar-restaurant-014.jpggulmohar-restaurant-016.jpggulmohar-restaurant-018.jpggulmohar-restaurant-019.jpggulmohar-restaurant-020.jpggulmohar-restaurant-021.jpggulmohar-restaurant-022.jpggulmohar-restaurant-023.jpggulmohar-restaurant-024.jpggulmohar-restaurant-015.jpggulmohar-restaurant-017.jpg

On the side of his bed was a secret passage which led to the quarters of the concubines and they would pass here to get to the Emperor

Breakfast by the Taj

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

Breakfast is included in the room charge and you go down to have the buffet.  But on our last day in Agra, I wanted to have breakfast in our balcony which we did not have time to use!  So we ordered room service which was also included already in the room.  You can have it in the room instead of down at the buffet

Beautiful view of the Taj before we say goodbye

We had hot food- omelette- which I forgot to take a photo of.  It is under the trolley in the food warmer
