Seafoam greens and pale peaches are refreshing respites from summer’s usual brights. Still vibrant and brimming with a subdued sophistication, Massimo Dutti’s Summer 2012 collection is the urban dweller’s go-to for the season –– perfect for running around in the city.
The Spanish brand, present in over 50 countries, has always delivered collections that lend inspiration to what city living ought to be: urban, elegant, and sometimes suggesting a bit of whimsy. If you’re stay-cationing in the city, the collection’s cool palettes can take you somewhere breezy, like the streets of Milan or beneath the setting Tuscan sun.
Originally a brand set up to commercialize menswear, Massimo Dutti is also known for creating collections of women’s wear ranging from casual styles to urban looks.
A city guy gone tropic
Massimo Dutti’s men’s summer collection is inspired by the sea, sand, sun and sailboats, but steers clear of typical warm weather fashion, which often lacks the tailored, put-together vibe that is the essence of urban style.
Key items for daytime are knee-length cotton and cotton linen shorts in light colors, two-toned navy shoes, large cotton bags and colorful rope belts. Come nighttime, this look is elevated with rolled up trousers, sailor shirts, and blazers in shades of blue. The preppy result is encouraging –– it’s summer, but its city.
Women draped in Dutti-chic
The women’s summer collection is inspired by various iconic feminine styles. The Brigitte line is strong and dynamic, featuring nautical hues with dashes of orange and fuchsia, and an effortless silhouette no woman could resist.
Margot is the epitome of Parisian chic. Feminine, tailored, and evocative of luxury, the collection is a whimsical summer romance told through fabric.
Massimo Dutti has a line for the free spirit: Sophia, who, personified, is a woman of wisdom, character and strength. The line features bold royal blues, black and white, complemented by mysterious silver
And finally, there’s Bianca, ethnic chic set in an urban backdrop. The collection’s key colors are white, khaki and navy, accompanied by the summer’s trend colors, turquoise, orange, yellow, and royal blue.
Massimo Dutti redefines summer fashion with looks that balance slouchy with tailored, bold hues and cool tones, trendy and classic, with each piece bespoke with the craftsmanship and quality the brand has been known for since 1985. Get inspired by visiting their look book at www.massimodutti.com or Massimo Dutti boutiques.
In the Philippines, Massimo Dutti is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. and is located at Greenbelt 5, The Power Plant Mall and Shangri-La Plaza Mall.

Thank you to Dolores Cheng for inviting me to this wonderful event!!!!! Here is a photo of Dolores and Maiqui Oreta, the brainchild of this event. Congratulations Maiqui and Kiddo-preneur for such a great endeavor!!!! It’s good for kids to learn early on and know the value of earning their own money and about hard work.
I was not sure what it was when I read the text invite, but then I was curious to see what is was. And wow!! I was overwhelmed!!! What a nice idea!!! Kids set up booths to sell their products and were young entrepreneurs for the day!!! I LOVE IT!! I brought my nephew Mio and my son Javier along and Javier was wishing he had his own booth too. I wanted to support each and every kid that day and told them I would be back since I was taking photos first but by the time i finished taking photos of all the booths, the two boys were nagging me to go already. For the next one, I will make sure I do some shopping and support all the kids!!! And maybe next time Javier will join and have his own booth!
Love their slogan
EARN. SAVE. INVEST.DONATE

Spanx® inventor and founder, Sara Blakely, is named Forbes’ Youngest Self-Made Woman Billionaire. Blakely, who graces the cover of the special issue joins the short list of other American self-made woman billionaires, including Oprah Winfrey and Meg Whitman. The Forbes cover story highlights how Blakely turned $5,000 savings into a global phenomenon. In an interview with Anderson Cooper in his daytime tv talk show in
The inspiring entrepreneur says that aside from her family, she is most proud of achieving this level of success that is certainly beyond her wildest dreams. With her creativity and unyielding passion, Blakely has definitely inspired budding entrepreneurs out there to follow their dreams and not be afraid of failure. “I think fear prevents so many people from pursuing their ideas. Failure to me is in not trying rather than in not succeeding.” This valuable piece of advice which she got from her father inspired her to always want to push herself out of her comfort zone.
Blakely also explains that her way to success was definitely no easy feat. She drove around begging mill owners to help make her idea but was turned down a good many times until one day, she got a call from a mill buyer from Neiman Marcus who said he decided to help her with her crazy idea – and the rest, as they say, is history.
“I really am just like anybody else out there. I found myself in a place where I think many people can relate to but I made the decision and I committed to that decision to figure it out for myself. It took a ton of hard work. It was a roller-coaster but I feel amazingly blessed to be doing what I do, and I love every minute of it”, shares the successful entrepreneur. When asked what her number one tip for a woman who is starting in business or dreaming of starting one, Blakely has this to share: “You’ve got to trust your gut. I didn’t have any background in what I was doing. Trust your gut – it’s a really good compass. The other thing is to differentiate yourself. You’ve got to know why you’re different, why you’re better – and your customer needs to know why you’re different and better and they need to get it in 30 seconds or less.”
