Piaget Partners with AmfAR On the Inspiration Gala in Sao Paulo and in New York

Calvin Klein collection designer, Francisco Costa receives Piaget Award of Inspiration

Piaget is proud to support amfAR on their glamorous, Inspiration Gala series, with the latest being held in Sao Paulo, one of South America’s most dynamic cities. The glittering black tie affair honored Calvin Klein’s Francisco Costa, who received the Piaget Award of Inspiration from Hollywood leading lady, Claire Danes, in recognition of his extraordinary commitments to raising HIV/ AIDS awareness and advancing AIDS research.

 The Gala dinner attracted a fashionable crowd including Brazilian supermodel Alessandro Ambrosio. Guests were treated to a live performance by singing sensation, Jennifer Hudson. She dazzled the room in a vintage cuff from Piaget, handcrafted in yellow gold with a jade dial, and a pair of yellow gold diamond and gemstone earrings.

James Franco Receives Piaget Award of Inspiration

For the second year in a row, Piaget partnered with amfAR to present the Inspiration Gala in New York. The black tie affair, held at the Museum of Modern Art, honored Oscar-nominated actor and artist, James Franco, and beloved fashion designer and Project Runway star, Michael Kors. Franco received the Piaget Award of Inspiration for his humanitarian work and contributions to men’s style. Kors received the amfAR Award of Courage for his leadership in the fight against AIDS. Piaget’s President of North America, Larry Boland stated, “We are very proud to honor James Franco with the Piaget Award of Inspiration. He is one of Hollywood’s most exciting actors- a true Renaissance man who inspires us all.”

The evening was a celebration of style and attracted many of New York’s most fashionable from the worlds of fashion and entertainment, including Jennifer Hudson, Liza Minnelli, Heidi Klum, Courtney Love, Judith Light, Chanel Iman, Kenneth Cole, Fabiola Beracasa and Olivia Palermo among others. One of the first to arrive was television host and Bravo superstar, Andy Cohen who donned a white gold Piaget Double Jeu for the evening. Celebrated chef, author and former wife of Billy Joel, Katie Lee, hit the red carpet in a vintage Lanvin gown accented by Piaget’s white gold, diamond and Akoya pearl cuff watch along with a pair of breathtaking Piaget diamond chandelier earrings.

Following cocktails, guests were seated for a formal menswear fashion show featuring custom looks from some of the world’s leading designers including Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Hugo Boss, Bottega Veneta, DSquared2 and Thom Browne. Piaget accessorized the runway looks with selected timepieces from its Black Tie, Altiplano and Piaget Polo Collections.

The evening’s dinner festivities featured a moving tribute to Elizabeth Taylor and an exciting live auction where the top selling item was a private photo shoot with James Franco. 

The event marked the fourth in the Inspiration Gala series. For 2011, Piaget partnered with amfAR for 4 events for 2011, with New York last  June 14^th at MOMA, followed by Paris last June 23^rd and Los Angeles for fall. 

To date, the Inspiration Galas have raised more than $1 million for AIDS research.
