A Lush Scent Lush Gorilla Perfume

 Great perfumes are like works of art. That’s why Lush – leader of handmade cosmetics known for its use of few preservatives and fresh products, introduces their new line of memorable, inspiring and delightful Gorilla Perfumes.

Gorilla Perfume was formed to showcase the perfumery of Mark (co-founder of Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics) and Simon Constantine (head buyer for Lush and also perfumer). This father and son team, known for their exquisite perfumes, wanted to remind customers how special their fragrances are, and how perfumes are a form of self-expression. Their blends are often deeply influenced by emotions and music. These perfumes are an antidote to boring mass-market scents and a movement to get people excited about good quality fragrances.

To ignite the revolution, Mark and Simon knew that they had to choose a name that would generate excitement. Taking inspiration from the title of an interview article, they played with the name “The Guerrilla Perfumers.” However, the youngest son of Mark commented that his father was a guerilla perfumer, but his brother Simon was just a gorilla. The father and son wanted a play with the words and with Gorilla Perfume, they knew they found the name they were looking for.

The limited edition Gorilla Perfume collection includes Tuca Tuca, Karma, Imogen, Rose, Lust, Orange Blossom, Smell of Freedom, Breath of God, and Vanillary.

Tuca Tuca

The fabulous and catchy Italian song & dance number of the same name inspired the fragrance when the Lush founders visited Venice, Italy. Tuca Tuca brings out the fun and flirtatious girl inside us all. Motivated by this playful personality, this has a light summery feel that starts with a blast of fresh violet top notes. This perfume has a rich, floral feel from cassie absolute. It on your skin with warm vanilla and ylang ylang note then moves into its middle notes. The dry down is subtle violet leaf and vetivert. It’s a sure hit for the free spirited girl who can go from being sweet to sensual with the bat of an eyelash. 

Karma

A Lush classic that is retro yet ageless. At first sniff, it has the power to transport you to the era of Bib Boutique, glam rock, and the age of freedom. Hip and hippy-at-heart spend the day feeling like it is a summer afternoon in the 70s with this powerful, spicy and unique blend of patchouli and citrus. This exotic blend has an ever deepening, calming fragrance, which changes as you wear it. 

Imogen Rose

Inspired by Simon’s baby daughter and his love for roses, he created this beautiful, romantic, one-of-a-kind perfume using 100% pure rose oil and garden fresh notes of basil. This fresh and floral perfume opens with a whiff of fresh roses straight from the field. Unlike the typical granny rose perfumes, Imogen Rose is a soft, exquisite Damascus rose perfume that moves quickly into baby soft talc. It produces a warm embracing middle note with tonka and rose absolute. Providing a warm floral finish, the dry down is a scent of sweet amber with vetivert, orris and ambrette seed.  

Lust

Unashamedly carnal and sexy, this pure jasmine fragrance is extremely provocative, sensual and erotic. Let lady luck be on your side with this fragrance during your nights out. Finally taking the opportunity to create an all-pure jasmine fragrance, Lust is definitely strongly sexy and exotic. The full bloom of the jasmine flower is accentuated by rich florals and a soft, woody base. To help relieve any inhibitions the perfumes makes use of jasmine, ylang ylang and sandalwood aphrodisiacs. Let lust fill the air for those seductive evenings. 

Orange Blossom

To evoke the Mediterranean’s uplifting scent of fresh harvest orange blossoms, this perfume was made to focus and emphasize on this simple ingredient. It starts with a fresh floral orange, neroli and bergamot blend for a fresh blast of the orange groves.  As it develops, a sweet honey note emerges mixing ylang ylang and orange flower absolute. Over time, the honeyed and woody tones develop on your skin and you are left with a warm glow. The warm honey and orange fragrance stays to the skin with beeswax absolute and should last most of the day. It’s just absolutely perfect!

The Smell of Freedom

This fragrance is inspired by three inspirational people Simon met on his travels around the world.  Each of them had stories of freedom through struggle, strength, hope and unwavering determination. It opens with a spicy mix of clove, ginger, jasmine and black pepper. The fragrance then moves into a more citrusy accord of lemon myrtle and lemongrass. It then leads to a warm middle note whiff consisting of fire tree oil and Australian sandalwood. Finally, a sophisticated dry down to sandalwood, orris and heavy Middle Eastern oils such as oudh and frankincense.

Breath of God

After an inspiring trip to Tibet, Breath of God was created. This fragrance is perfect for a person who likes to think throughout the day. Intensely medicinal, it is an inspiring reminder of the fresh clean air of the mountains (lemon, neroli and rose).  Although the melon notes should be at odds with the smoky dry-down, it instead adds a transparent quality creating a wonderful olfactory experience. This refreshing scents will remind individuals of life when it was much simpler.  

Vanillary

This Lush classic perfume is akin to a grown-up gourmand. Vanilla is such a calming and familiar scent, which can instill feelings of comfort, self-confidence and evoke a sense of inner peace. In this delicious perfume, the sweet and sensual real vanilla and jasmine absolutes are supported by the burnt caramel-like scent of tonka beans.  Calming and familiar, this scent slowly warms and develops on the skin and can instill feelings of inner confidence.

The alumni clubs in the Philippines of the top USA universities, namely, Columbia, Harvard Business School, MIT, Northwestern Kellogg, Stanford and Wharton – Penn alumni associations, will jointly hold a seminar with guest speaker – Silicon Valley’s Venture Capitalist, Mr. Dado Banatao. 

Mr. Banatao is considered as Philippines’ “Bill Gates”, having invented and introduced technologies that transformed the computer industry such as PC motherboard and chipsets which were acquired by top international technology companies such as Intel, Broadcom, Ciena Corporation and Sonic Blue.  Prior to founding Tallwood, a venture capital firm in Silicon Valley, Dado was a partner at the Mayfield Fund.  He also co-founded three technology startups and held positions at National Semiconductor, Seeq Technologies, Intersil, and Commodore International.  His success was recognized by numerous award-giving bodies.  He was honored with the prestigious Master Entrepreneur of the Year Award sponsored by Ernst & Young, Inc. Magazine, and Merrill Lynch Business Financial Services.

Our two very strong girlfriends – Luzanne and Des.  I really admire them for their courage and strength in their fight against cancer.  It’s interesting to get first hand real life experiences from them and seeing how each of them is coping in different ways.  Like for example, Luzanne chooses to use a wig and Des prefers to use a bandana.   And despite what they are going through,  they can still be very open about it and laugh with us about it.  I am so happy that they make us part of their lives because we want to support them and let them know that we are behind them and love them

Manila Gets Juicy

Juicy Couture just upped the shopping ante a notch with the opening of their new stand-alone boutique. Situated in the posh Greenbelt 5, this refreshingly stylish store imbibes an inviting and unique experience for Juicy Couture shoppers in the metro.

To celebrate the opening of the new Juicy Couture store, premiere retailer Stores Specialists, Inc. hosted a Miami-themed party complete with neon lights, white lounges and music. It was an evening of fun and glam, overflowing with juicy girly cocktails drinks from martinis to cosmopolitans sponsored by Ralph Wines and Spirits.

Gucci Paris Rue Royale Boutique Opens with an Exclusive Collection

GUCCI’S RENOVATED PARIS RUE ROYALE BOUTIQUE OPENS WITH AN

EXCLUSIVE COLLECTION AND NEW BAMBOO BAG MADE-TO-ORDER SERVICE

 

Gucci is pleased to announce the opening of its newly renovated boutique on Rue Royale in Paris. The 1,300 square meter shopping destination boasts a brand new design concept by Frida Giannini, Gucci’s Creative Director.

 

“Rue Royale is one of Europe‘s most prestigious retail destinations so I wanted to amplify the luxuriousness of the boutique’s environments through natural light and space to create an aesthetic, which is complementary to the vision of the House today,” explains Giannini. “Throughout the new design concept there are references to iconic Gucci materials and elements of stores from the past, but always set in a context that is thoroughly modern creating the ideal backdrop for the collections.”

 

In celebration of this opening Frida Giannini has created a special edition ‘New Jackie’ bag in grey ostrich, limited to six pieces, and soft grey deer skin, limited to thirty pieces, only available at the Rue Royale boutique.  Each bag features a “Paris Exclusive” metal plaque on the inside, along with the bag’s exclusive serial number. The limited edition collection also includes matching wallets in soft grey deer skin as well as a unique 100% pure silk scarf decorated with the “Gucci Paris 23 Rue Royale” border.

 

In addition, the Rue Royale boutique will be the first Gucci store in Europe to offer its clientele a new dedicated Made-To-Order service for one of the House’s most iconic bags: the New Bamboo bag will be available in 3 sizes and 25 different colours of crocodile. This unique palette includes natural tones such as ivory, bone, gravel, soft sand, caramel rose and amber, as well as intense colours such as orange, bordeaux, royal blue, Indian blue, forest, gold and emerald. The crocodile is offered with a mat, shiny or metallic finish, depending on the color chosen by the customer. Each bag will be personalized with the customer’s initials embossed on the central inner part of the flap and on the mirror case.

Giannini’s innovative store design concept, which employs open space, warm luxurious materials and natural light to spectacular effect, is a departure from traditional codified fashion retail spaces, and paves the way for Gucci’s 21st century contemporary look. Signature Gucci materials of rosewood and marble are enhanced with the introduction of new elements such as ribbed glass, warm polished gold, smoked mirror and smoked bronze glass, recalling the elegance and richness of the Art Deco era. Geometric lines, including stylized characterization of Gucci’s signature web striping, define the internal space by adding further symbolic detailing.

 

Smoked mirror and glass alternate providing an elongated perspective; door handles comprise gold and glass stripes; the floor is covered in white marble, sliced with a wide black marble strip that runs underfoot, up the wall and on the ceiling overhead; a fused bronze glass with a striped cross section and cracked lacquer is employed on shelving and display cases. Walls, covered in both bronze glass and bronze mirror, contribute to the warm intimacy and sophistication of the store environment.

 

The ground floor is dedicated to Gucci’s menswear collection and the wide selection of men’s accessories, luggage and small leather goods. The first floor houses handbags, women’s accessories, jewellery, silks and fragrances. The second floor is entirely dedicated to the Gucci’s womenswear collection while the new Gucci Children’s collection is available on the top floor.

 

The Rue Royale store is one of over 30 Gucci stores in the world that now reflect Frida Giannini’s deign concept following its successful roll-out in other cities including New York, Rome, Hong Kong, London, Shanghai and Singapore.
