Furla Spring Summer 2010

By | Fashion, What's New at Rustan's | 2 Comments

Understated elegance always in step with trends

In line with the current trends and in tune with its own style, which is understated yet always innovative,  Furla presents a Spring / Summer 2010 accessories collection featuring utterly feminine, sober and refined shapes, characterised by strong colours and a touch of funky yet captivating style. Two themes, Evolve and Imagineer, complete each other to interpret creatively the renewed desire for luxury and optimism of the contemporary woman.

EVOLVE

The perfect lines of Nature, such as the geometry of the hives’ cells, the sinuous and shiny curves of the underwater world and the delicacy of the plant world inspire the Evolve line.

A simple and elegant mood with an oriental touch, for a sensual and elegant woman, in a mix of natural elements with a stroke of summer fun. The materials, from python to gradient vegetal crocodile printed and woven multi-printed calf leathers are soft with a matt effect, enhanced by delicate and warm tones. Tender and light pastel colours, such as petal rose, sand and white cotton, approach intense tones such as aloe and sandalwood. Each detail has a vintage look, with a fine print in bright colours, embellished with satin-finished metal.

Colours: white cotton, coffee, onyx, petal rose, sand, aloe, sandalwood.

Materials: python, gradient vegetal crocodile, vegetal crocodile, woven multi-printed calf leather, Nappa leather, deer and soft vegetal calf leather.

IMAGINEER

The world of imagination takes off, developing a surreal mood influenced by the universe of dreams, in a metamorphosis between past and present.

The Imagineer woman is whimsical yet sophisticated, a woman who likes to have fun with retro-futuristic combinations, matching a touch of 80’s style with a modern twist for a Pop, cheerful and colourful look. The dazzling colours contrast, characteristic of a bright summer style, start from a dusty light palette with vetiver and white tones, to tap the vibrant colours of plants, such as mimosa yellow, patchouli orange and red cherry, with a fluorescent touch, hot and cold at the same time.  The materials play on daring prints, such as coral python and striped straw, with small funky details such as creative pockets and zips, to provide the active woman a practical yet stylish fashion accessory.

Colours: mimosa yellow, patchouli orange, red cherry, vetiver, white, onyx.

Materials: coral python, striped straw, shaded-off ayers reptile, metallic Nappa leather, polished croc, deer, soft vegetal calf leather, synthetic patent.

Furla footwear collection revels in peppy contrasts and eye-catching colours

A collection of unprecedented contrasts and clever graphic designs, and as ever, the epitome of youthful elegance and sophistication. The Max Kibardin Spring-Summer 2010 footwear collection is a further case of the contemporary classic style that Furla has always embraced and updated continuously with innovative new takes on style and design.

The Russian-born designer, who gained much acclaim at the Furla Talent Hub, focused his creative talents on two details: studs and bows. They may seem worlds apart but when they become the object of such an inspired mind, they put the style into statement shoes, making them ideal for modern women who are increasingly more open to new ideas and audacious combinations.

Studs are added where embroidered decorations might have gone, and the recurring geometrically-cut bows create an elegant futuristic feel. Kibardin’s shoes are extremely feminine and reveal a myriad of colours and interesting combinations of materials in the same shoe.

The collection features soft nappa,  patent leather or suede pumps made using the slip-lasting technique;  ultra-flat “Capri” sandals and unlined boots in light suede and perforated nappa; and statement, engineered heels presenting a new take on low-cut courts. Among the real showstoppers, however, are the coloured rubber pumps and flip flops featuring mini-studs and python inserts.

In the Philippines, Furla is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI) and is located at Greenbelt 5, Rustan’s Makati, and Shangri-La Plaza Mall.

Learning A Step Ahead at Tutoring Club

By | For kids | 2 Comments

The buzzing start of the school season is definitely in the air! With things like booklists, transportation arrangements, new uniforms, and school supplies to complete, moms and dads have definitely got a lot on their hands making sure that youngsters are all set and prepared for the year ahead.

Logistics and provisions aside however, we all know that the real challenge begins when that first bell rings. So if you’re either looking to equip your child academically, make school a little more fun or manageable, or even have him or her take a step ahead of the rest, it might be time to join the club… the Tutoring Club, that is!

 tutoringclub8.jpg

Founded in the United States in 1991, Tutoring Club is a skills-based tutoring service for students at all levels of academic ability, from elementary through high school that offers personalized programs that help them either “catch up and keep up”, or to gain advantage over other students in their class by learning and retaining critical skills.

Unique to others in the private education industry, the Tutoring Club franchise is a parent’s dream as its successful, results-oriented approach enlists the most efficient use of advanced educational technologies combined with time-honored systems of instruction to test and identify areas of improvement, tutor, and track a child’s academic progress in three major areas: math, reading, and writing; all within comfortable, well-appointed facilities.

tutoringclub3.jpg

With thousands of children enrolled in its 222 branches around the world, it may very well be that the same number of happy and fulfilled parents can testify of the wonders that this effective, strategically planned methodology brings to the study table. Given the statistics, Tutoring Club furthermore prides itself on a low student-teacher ratio of 3:1 to ensure quality and immediate personal attention. It even guarantees that, within 32 hours of tutoring, a child’s skills will improve one full grade level.

Fourth year high school student Sam Mercado actually raised his grades from 78% to 89%!

“Well, as far as my son’s lessons are concerned, the tutors make it easy for him to understand, relates Mrs. Josephine Arcenas. “With their patience, they somehow give him the drive and motivation which I suppose contributes to his wanting to do well.”

 tutoringclub2.jpg

Indeed, parents also attest to the importance of piquing an enthusiastic and inspired attitude towards studying. Take for example Mrs. Cynthia Tiu, who wanted to boost her daughter’s reading and writing. “I could see she had skills but didn’t know how to maximize them,” she says. “Now, after a couple of sessions at Tutoring Club, I see her doing her homework on her own with more ease and confidence.  She no longer waits for the tutor to help her out with her reports or reaction papers or ask for approval of the work she’s done!”

 tutoringclub6.jpg

If that sounds like something you’d want to say yourself, try and see what Tutoring Club can do for you and your child this school year. As one more satisfied parent puts it, “if it enriches, enhances and encourages your children to the point of making them independent and confident learners, why wouldn’t you want to take that step?”

By | Foodie, Jaric Marketing Inc, Steaks | 4 Comments

Heart2Heart was so happy to go back to Mamou! And this time, we were honored to have Oye and Malou serve us and dine with us!!! Malou is so passionate about food and passion drives you to do great things!  Which explains why Mamou is so successful!

She explained some of the dishes to me and she said that through her travels and her experiences in many restaurants all over the world, she tries to make her own version and shares them with everyone through her restaurant.

Weekend Brunch at Mamou December 13, 2008

Peter Luger of the Philippines October 1, 2007

James is making his rounds and asking the BEST chefs in the country to cook his steak for him!  So we asked Malou to cook a 52 day Dry Aged Porterhouse steak because he knew Malou is the Peter Luger of the Philippines 🙂 and only she can make it closest to the real thing

bryanvisitsmamou-1.jpgbryanvisitsmamou-3.jpg

Thanks Oye and Malou!  More power to you!!!  Hopefully we can announce more good news soon!!

bryanvisitsmamou-4.jpgdsc_5192.jpgdsc_5309.jpg

Oye and Malou were very kind to host us…we also invited Raffy and Carmina, who love steak too

bryanvisitsmamou-5.jpg

Oh my gosh!!!!! i just had to order this!!!!!!!!!!!! YUMMY!!!!! Thanks Malou for serving this to me!!!  We all enjoyed it!

bryanvisitsmamou-7.jpg

After having the starters, Malou took me with her to the kitchen and wow!  You cannot imagine the number of steaks and lobsters that came out of that kitchen that evening!  It was torture for me to smell and watch the dishes!!! but I was in heaven just “window eating” ( is there such a thing? )  🙂

bryanvisitsmamou-8.jpgdsc_5351.jpgmamoumeatmenu.jpg

One of their specialties!!  All the lobsters were reserved already that evening!  That is how popular they are!

And here is where all the good food is cooked! Malou is always so good to share

bryanvisitsmamou-15.jpg

Malou told me this pan is 17 years old!!!  And she used it to cook the porterhouse!

bryanvisitsmamou-16.jpgbryanvisitsmamou-17.jpgbryanvisitsmamou-18.jpgbryanvisitsmamou-20.jpgbryanvisitsmamou-21.jpg

Everyone enjoying the steak!!! A good steak deserves to be cooked the proper way!
