Apo Island Dauin Negros Oriental

By | Animals and Pets, Travel | No Comments

From Malatapay market, the boat to Apo Island is right there 🙂  So though it was raining, we waited for it to stop and until the coast guard gave a go signal for us to leave

Not really a smooth ride, but bearable 🙂

The first part of our trip, we were only two families 🙂  So happy to be with Newts, Mish, Enzo and Sophia

Approaching Apo, you will see this resort, Apo Island Beach resort.  Looks nice 🙂

And there is this 🙂  upon arrival

The marine habitat in Apo Island, Dauin, Negros Oriental, is a marine reserve

This is why I think aqua socks may be better because of slippery stones and sharp rocks, though you need to be cautious always when walking – this is advice for city girls like me 🙂  and of course for kids who are not used to roughing it out like my kids haha 🙂

You need to go to the main office and register and pay the fees before you snorkel or dive

Plenty stones but anyway you use your boat to go and snorkel

We went a few meters away from the shore and snorkeled

We did not have underwater cameras so we do not have photos of the turtles or pawikans.

There are many here in this island.  The time we were there, they saw a few.  It was habagat season already end of June.  Not really an ideal time to go but we had no choice due to the kids vacation schedule.  We also prefer not too have too many people – true enough we had the island all to ourselves 🙂

Featherdale Wildlife Park Australia

By | Animals and Pets, Travel | No Comments

About 30 minutes away from the city, we stopped by the Featherdale Wildlife Park on the way to Blue Mountain

We enjoyed very much this place!! It’s not too overwhelming because it is a small area with lots of animals to see and visit

H20 Hotel

By | Accomodations, Animals and Pets | No Comments

I have always been curious to see this hotel!  I finally had the chance since I was in the area.  This is the view from the hotel reception/lobby.  My friend, Eric, told me that this area gets so full you cannot walk anymore.  It’s full of kids and visitors going to Manila Ocean Park.  I am so glad it’s doing well.  The developer of this whole place is building an underground hotel in Boracay and will open in 2015.  I am looking forward to seeing that!!!

h2o-hotel-5.JPG

The entrance to the hotel is actually the same entrance as the Ocean Park – but you pass the left side which will take you to the elevator going up to the lobby.  The hotel is owned and operated by a Singaporean and I would say it is being maintained well.  It’s clean and does not look run down.  I hope they keep this up
h2o-hotel-1.jpeg

Love the hallway to the rooms
h2o-hotel-4.jpg

The room with an aquarium!!  And no that will not break unless someone really purposely tries to break it.  This Aquarium goes the whole perimeter of the rooms – so it is just one aquarium circling the rooms.  The glass is double glass so don’t worry about it breaking while you are sleeping 🙂
h2o-hotel-1.JPG

It’s a small room but it is clean and I must say unique!  Not for claustrophobic people but definitely a unique experience
h2o-hotel-3.JPG
h2o-hotel-2.JPG

There is a special area for people who book in this wing.  It’s like their Executive floor with special facilities for businessmen or people who would like to have more exclusivity and privacy

Nice lounging area with a nice view of Manila Bay

Going to the Club rooms- it’s a bit hot in the afternoons

Bubba

By | Animals and Pets | One Comment

We were so happy to meet Bubba!  We only hear about Bubba from our friend, Pepe.  This time, Bubba came over to visit us!

Bubba is so friendly and so playful!!

Pepe’s companion, Bubba 🙂  When I first met Pepe last year, he told me that he got Bubba for his daughter.  Not only as a gift but also to keep her preoccupied.  Being the protective father that he is, He wanted her to focus on Bubba rather than on boys! 🙂

Since I am not a good writer, I am glad Cecile Lopez Lilles, also a friend of Pepe, wrote about Pepe and Bubba’s story.  A heartwarming story 🙂
