By | Arts and Culture, Fashion, Giving Back, Shopping | No Comments

So happy to always see Tita Maritess in many events, mostly art events but also in events that patronize our very own. There are some people I know who are so passionate about promoting our very own and Tita Maritess is one of them. Thank you Tita, we need more people like you Aside from being a Board of Director of MaARTe, she is also instrumental as Chairman, FilipinaZ Arts and Fashion Fair in another foundation, The Zonta Cub of Makati and Environs Foundation Inc. ( ZCME )
Art and Fashion Fair On September 12 to 14 at the Rockwell Tent
She told me that this shopping event will merge fashion and art. Beside her in this photo is a Limited edition Joy Mallari titled Ligaw 2006, The original is in the Pinto Museum and there will be 15 of these for sale

The ZCME is known for staging an annual fundraising activity in order to generate funds to support its projects, to wit: training disadvantaged women in livelihood skills and thereafter providing them with microcredit for their microbusiness, providing them with free Pap smear tests and breast-cancer screening, advising them on their legal rights, rehabilitating sexually-abused girls aged 6 to 17 in a haven in Marillac Hills, etc.  For this year, the Fair will highlight creations featuring designers, artisans, creative entrepreneurs and the like. It further intends to mobilize, sensitize and most importantly, empower women.

I also met a young boy (17 yrs old) Francisco Coching the IV. In the photo is his Dad and manager, Pam Banoi. Francisco rolls masking tape and makes them into beautiful works of art. He told me he would do this when he gets bored in class 🙂 The eagle in the photo took him two months to make and if you look close there is so much detail in it. What a unique form of art!! He is the grandson of National artist for a Visual Arts, Francisco V. Coching, the illustrator

Oh My Gulay Baguio

By | Arts and Culture, Foodie, Proud to be Pinoy!, Travel | No Comments

My friend, Ginge, told me about this place Oh My Gulay 🙂  We rarely eat out in Baguio and usually stay home so we have little time to really eat out.  So I went to the place just to take a look at it!  It’s this green building across ( La Azotea building 108 Session road ) the Starbucks in Session road.  Good thing the others went to Starbucks so i took advantage and crossed the street to check it out

There’s no elevator in the building so you have to climb up to the penthouse 🙂

You see the entrance from the floor before, 4th floor

Aside from the vegetarian cafe, it is also a venue to house arts and talents from the Cordilleras

Entrance- I thought I was entering a Disneyland ride 🙂

There’s a small side entrance which has a stairway to go up to the cafe seating

There are many areas for seating – up, down, balcony, under 🙂  Very nice place 🙂

The menu 🙂  Vegetarian.  We must come back one day to try

D Vision Custom Metal Works

By | Arts and Culture | One Comment

We were so happy to see Tito Frank and Tita Annie!!  They used to be our neighbours when they were living in Manila till they went back to Arizona

d-vision-1.JPG

This trip, Greg and Junie came along so it was nice to see them too!!

d-vision-2.jpg

Junie is the daughter of Tito Frank and Tita Annie and she was 14 years old and I was 9 years old back then.  I would bug her everyday and go next door after school.  I must have been a pest 🙂  Junie stayed for only 3 years and now lives with her family in the Bay Area

june-niemiec-dotson.JPG

Greg and Junie design and manufacture wrought iron, brass, stainless steel doors, staircases etc for interior designers and direct clients in San Francisco. Even metal works can be customised 🙂

They gave this beautiful heart decor which they made to Dad and Mom for their anniversary 🙂
