My friend, Nicole Olbes Fandino, shared this with Heart2Heart in the hope that maybe some of you out there may want to help Una for her Art Education. The portraits would make a nice gift or a nice addition to your art in your homes. I talked to Geri, the Mom of Una to help me put together the details of this project and so here it is 🙂 Good luck Una!
Isn’t she amazing?
This is Una’s personal initiative to help us raise the money for her art education and at the same time, practice her skills. Her goal is to complete 100 portraits and 100% of the proceeds will go to her tuition and moving-to-Canada fund. It is a four-year program but we are all taking it one year at a time.
She is only about to start college life as an art student so technically, she isn’t one yet. Therefore the skills she is using to create these portraits are what she’s acquired from her private lessons through {SET} Artist Run Space (https://www.facebook.com/setarc?fref=ts)* while she built her portfolio.
*{SET} Artist Run Space offers portfolio building classes for art students.
All applicants to Emily Carr University of Art + Design must submit a portfolio as part of the admission process. Una worked with her teacher as she built the required body of work for ECUAD, where she has been accepted into the Foundation Year this fall term.
The portraits are her representations of the subjects.
All in all, the goal is really to raise funds for art education for ECUAD in Vancouver, BC. Una is still awaiting her study permit from the Canadian Embassy. She has also been accepted into the UP College of Fine Arts Painting Program and ADMU College of Fine Arts.
For those who would like to support, here are the mechanics:
Send a good, clear (preferably hi-res) photo of the subject to gilunag@gmail.com
Subject on email message: PORTRAITS {your name}
Price is P3000/head (plus shipping if applicable)
Upon confirmation of payment, Una will paint a 5X7 portrait for you.
Pick up or delivery can be arranged
I am so glad we have friends that are our friends from College, but we are even more happy when they like the same things we do… for example…. Art! 🙂 Thank you Jose and Tin who we love dearly for sharing your beautiful home with us and sharing your beautiful and valuable collection of art The most valuable galleries for heart2heart are those of private individuals – it doesn’t have to be big, it doesn’t have to be a museum – They reflect the true love the collector has for art and the priceless years it took for them to collect. I love most especially when they passionately present and explain each work of art, why they love it and how they acquired it.

Love these Ronald Ventura artworks Untitled 2010 30×23 cm /pc set of 5. One is hidden because it’s sensored for the kids 🙂 according to Daddy Jose. Still wishing we could have a Ronald Ventura one day
Even more valuable are works of art made and given by good friends. Jose told me that this photo taken by Noel is a remembrance of their first NYC marathon when they were together and Noel took this photo of a taxicab when crossing the street. Jose liked the photo and asked Noel for a copy of it and Noel gave him this. Priceless works of art.

On it’s 9th year of bringing affordable art to all of us who love ART, Art in the Park is on March 22 with 60 exhibitors.
On Sunday, March 22, the Jaime Velasquez Park in Salcedo Village, Makati, transforms once again into an open-air art hub for the much-anticipated Art in the Park. Now on its ninth edition, the art fair this year brings together an assortment of 60 art galleries as well as independent art and student groups, the big names side-by-side with the lesser known or soon-to-be known.
From 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., in the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere of the park, art lovers and enthusiasts, collectors and just the plain curious can wander the grounds, peek into any one of the tents, or linger and leisurely browse the trove of artwork on offer. With an array of paintings, prints, and photographs, pottery and sculpture to choose from, Art in the Park appeals to a variety of tastes and allows for a little bit of something for everyone.
Thrill to the discovery of a singular find; search for, or stumble into, that elusive, perfect piece; be beguiled by the novel, the different, the unique, and at the same time delight in a gem of a bargain or two, as prices are capped at no higher than P40, 000.00. This is in keeping with Art in the Park’s aim to make art affordable and accessible to all, providing even the budget-conscious the chance to own beautiful, engaging pieces from both established and emerging artists.
The same pretty ladies that brought to you Art Fair – Trickie Lopa @trickiel Lisa Periquet and Dindin Araneta plus Rhona Lopa and Nanet Reyes @nlopreyes How Art has changed from 2006 when Art in The Park @artintheparkph started and all because of the hard work that these ladies put into bringing out the best in our very own talents by giving them a chance to showcase their work and in turn giving us the chance to appreciate them. Philippine Art is at its peak now! Dennis Bato from PSP ( Pilipinas Street Plan ) and Gaby Dela Merced, gallery director of Vinyl on Vinyl – As in the past years, Art in the Park @artintheparkph will highlight an art installation specially mounted for the fair. This year, seek out the large-scale, interactive sculpture from Vinyl on Vinyl by artists Jood Clarino and Dennis Bato. A Rubik’s cube-like structure, it will feature movable parts coupled with videos and a play of lights, guaranteed to elicit both amusement and wonder. So happy to meet Yeo Kaa, one of the artists of Studio 1616 that will be exhibiting at Art in the Park. We have one of her toys Blood and Stitches from Secret Fresh Gallery. She is the only one from CHSM among the artists while the other artists are from TUP. She is also the girlfriend of Lynyrd Paras
