Mayette and Francis who are here visiting from Australia!!! It’s been already almost four years since we were in Australia visiting them!  mayet used to work in Rustan’s Supermarket Makati as store manager and handling all our customers.  When she moved to Australia she worked for Customer relations at David Jones and now she is with American Express handling the same thing.  It’s good she stuck to what she does best 🙂

Christmas Wonderland

By | Christmas, What's New at Rustan's | No Comments

Last night during dinner with the family, Tita Nedy and Tita Len showed us a gigantic dancing santa!  They come in life sizes in different heights and are available at Rustan’s!  They are running out really fast!! The shortest one is this one in the video for P 10,500.00

[wp_youtube]_0QfbkvTqY8[/wp_youtube]

the next size is P 12,500 which is even taller than Mishcka 🙂  LOVE LOVE CHRISTMAS!!

I went to Rustan’s to buy some Halloween decor and I panicked when the store was already Christmas! I got so inspired to decorate my house after coming here and ended up having my staff bring out my Christmas decor!  Hoping to add more soon after Halloween!!!  I LOVE LOVE RUSTAN’s!  It’s like you are in a different world!  In the kids floor, you can already sign up for Christmas Registry

The Fruit Garden Festive Season Flavors

By | Christmas, Proud to be Pinoy!, Yummy! | No Comments

Holiday Jams from The Fruit Garden

 festive-mood.jpg

With the holidays just around the corner, The Fruit Garden introduces two new jam flavours that will be available for a limited time only… Berry Dream and Tropical Paradise.

Berry Dream is a lovely mix of blueberry and strawberry fruits with a subtle hint of violet flowers inspired by Pierre’s childhood memories of violet candy. “ It is more a typical “winter” jam that eaten  when those fruits aren’t  in season. The uniqueness of that jam comes from the violet flower aroma. As child I used to eat violet candy, and it has a very special taste to me.” While Tropical Paradise is the result of over six months of testing to achieve the perfect balance of textures and flavors of passion fruit, pineapple and mango.

wave-bottle-tree.jpg

Both jams are bottled in unique and exclusive wave glass jars specially made for this year’s holiday line.  The ‘wave’ idea hit Pierre during his yearly visit back to France. ‘Last June after having eaten at Carette Patisserie  in the very high end 16th arrondissement,  I walked across to  the stunning Madeleine Church and was attracted by a very colorful shop window. I knew this outlet for many years and it does not fail to impress me for what they can do with basic food products. The bottles and other packaging they had in the window were stunning. It inspired me to make the wave bottles for our jams.’ The ‘artsy’ bottles can be stacked one on top of the other and are pretty enough to be used for other things.the-wave-collection-box.jpg

Christmas Gift Bows

By | Christmas | One Comment

I really appreciate creative works by friends.  I know for sure that creativity is inborn and that no matter how hard one tries, it just doesn’t come out as nice as what people with creative talents do.  I know because I am a frustrated artist 🙂  I took note of a few packages for Christmas, but when they started all coming in, I just lost track.  So, here are some of the attractive bows last Christmas.

This is the ultimate bow that I received for Christmas!  It is made by my Tita Nena who is super creative!  I could not even figure out how she tied all of them together and she adds so many other ornaments and accessories and even puts a nice quote rolled into a scroll

ultimate-bowl.jpg

A nice Filipiniana type of bow from Fannie Guanzon of Herb’s Best.  She also sold these christmas gift baskets at Rustan’s with all her healthy products inside.  Sold like hotcakes

dsc_7848.JPG

This is a simple bow from Jones and Dad, but I like the way it matched the gift card which was so cute and it combined well with the gift bag. CUTE!

dsc_8145.jpg

Another cute one from Toddy and Mel

dsc_8170.JPG

From Randy and Pia – Again the combination of everything was attractive to me

dsc_8174.jpg

From Gary and Alexie!! Love it!  The wrapping paper combined with the ribbon and with a real candy cane

dsc_8190.JPG

I’m sorry but I forgot who this was from, but its a nice bow 🙂 Next Christmas I will try to capture more!

Lucille’s Homemade Cochinillo

By | Celebrations, Christmas, Foodie | One Comment

Lucille invited us once again to her home…It seems like she is doing it every other year 🙂

Lucille’s Birthday Treat January 8, 2009

Here she is welcoming us as we arrive and take note of the parol on top of her.   She is part of the group from St. James Parish in Alabang who sold these beautiful parols last Christmas

lucilles-kuchinillo-01.jpglucilles-kuchinillo-033.jpglucilles-kuchinillo-032.jpgp1040016.jpg

She is always proud of her two children who are presently studying abroad

Our group photo taken by Lucille’s Staff 🙂

lucilles-kuchinillo-010.jpgp1040020.jpg

She had different cocktail drinks for us since we all had dietary requirements – buko juice for me, orange and apple for the others

lucilles-kuchinillo-011.jpg

It was Lucille’s birthday and we made her cook for us again!  WE LOVE IT!! 🙂  Quoting here a note from Det who said it very well:

Dear Lucille,

Many thanks for being the usual gracious host!

Each year, as December comes, I always look forward to your birthday lunch!  What I most love about visiting your home (apart of course from the very good food) is how I feel the warmth of your hospitality; how each year you have transformed into an Oprah a Martha Stewart which you do so well with your own personal touch and style!  The only downside is, each time I leave your beautiful home, I always ponder about having a sabbatical even just for a month so I get to learn “your favorite things.”  It has always been my dream to become a home maker but sometimes life takes you to a different path which of course I can’t complain!

Cheers to you birthday girl and cheers to loving company and a friendship which will forever be in our hearts!

Always,

Det

And Mother Butler Lucille says our grace before the meal

Luzanne insisted on having her cochinillo with Mang Tomas sauce!! It’s a good thing Brenda had some with her.  Luzanne can finish almost half the bottle 🙂

lucilles-kuchinillo-015.jpg

LOOK AT THAT YUMMY COCHINILLO!!!! Homemade dishes are more meaningful and taste much better!!! And Lucille’s cooking is always WITH LOVE! 🙂
