A brand new dining destination at Greenbelt 5, The Terrace at 5th is an exciting pristine restaurant that sits unobtrusively over-looking a lush garden and the restaurant row of Greenbelt 2. the-terrace-5th22.jpg

The cuisine is an eclectic mix from a delectable menu of the treasured family recipes of its owners – headed by its executive chef Cecille Ysmael with her six good friends and food connoisseurs Ching Cruz, Maricris Zobel, Menchu Soriano, Carol Garcia,  and interior designers Ivy and Cynthia Almario (who is behind the simple yet beautifully designed interiors).

 the-terrace-5th2.jpg

This is a sure dining destination for any meal in the day.

The Terrace at 5th is the new restaurant of Chef Cecille Ysmael who first shared with us her passion for Thai cuisine with her highly esteemed restaurant Thai at Silk in Serendra.  It projects an idyllic charm with simple yet distinctly appealing interior design that provides a relaxing dining ambiance.  Floral murals, bird cage ceiling lamps, French windows with gooseberry accents, warm shades of green and white exude comfort and class.

the-terrace-5th21.jpg

Enjoy such succulent starters as Cynthia’s Amazing Artichoke Dip whose flavor just bursts in the mouth or the Calamares Fritos which is scrumptious with every bite. Warm up with a mouth-watering Tomato Al L’uovo, a tomato egg-drop soup with fresh coriander. A must-try is the Terrace Salad which is the restaurant’s signature salad of fresh garden greens with crunchy almond chips. Indulge on the rich and bold Crabmeat Pasta with Tarragon or the Laing Pasta a la Cristina with taro leaves and white shrimp simmered to perfection in coconut milk.

 theterrace5th23.jpg

Satisfy your palate with the Cote d’Azur Seafood platter, grilled or chilled, served with garlic alioli and cocktail mignonette sauce.

theterrace5th24.jpgtheterrace5th25.jpg

Slowly roasted for 12 hours and reduced in rich balsamic sauce, the Homestyle Confit of Pork Belly is another dish to behold. Steak-lovers will enjoy every luxurious bite into The Terrace at 5th’s char-grilled or pan-grilled USDA Prime angus steak like 1,000 grams Porterhouse, Rib Eye or Fillet Mignon.

theterrace5th27.jpg

Finish with a Gateau de Crepe, a Mango Jubilee or a Chocolate Fondue to complete an already exquisite meal.

theterrace5th26.jpg

And of course, what’s a terrific meal without the company of fine wine? Try their extensive selection which offers everything from red wines such as Cape Mentelle Margaret River/Cabernet Merlot, Terrazas Reserva Malbec/Mendoza, and the Green Point Pinot Noir/Yarra Valley Victoria, and white wines such as Casa Lapostelle Sauvignon Blanc/Maipo, Green Point Chardonnay/Yarra Valley Victoria, and Terrazas de los Andes Chardonnay/Mendoza. Offered at a special prize of Php 2,950.00 until the end of February is the Moet et Chandon Brut Imperial.

Chef Cecille will even lovingly prepare a dish in a different way if you call in advance.  The Dungenese crab has been cooked in many different ways for many of Chef Cecille’s more discerning clients who have an adventurous palate.

Food lovers will, without a doubt, take note of the amazing new dining experience that The Terrace at 5th will provide.

Pink Kitchen 2008 by ICanServe

By | Events and Launches, Foodie, Giving Back | One Comment

Congratulations to ICanServe  on a very successful event!  Every year, it gets better and better!  There were so many people who helped organize the event, so many volunteers who came to lend a helping hand and so many people who attended the event.  The place was jam packed!  I hope that Rockwell puts up a bigger tent so we can have a bigger venue for Pink Kitchen 2009 🙂

September Mothers Club Part 2 – French Bistro by Monique Santos

By | Events and Launches, Recipes | 2 Comments

After the talk by Tita Baby Cruz was French Bistro by Monique Santos, who is the sister of my dear dear friends, Dinky, Dondi and Dino!!!  The whole time during the cooking lesson, I was admiring this young girl teaching us how to cook… with a Le Cordon Bleu logo on her Chef outfit….I was thinking to myself….If you have a Le Cordon Bleu education, you must be a good chef! Josie and I kept whispering to each other our amazement as to how cool and calm she was in preparing the food.   She  was so natural and was such an expert at what she was doing…and the food tasted great!

Thanks Monique for sharing your talent with us.  I hope to have a cooked meal by you again and to feature you once more and many times more at Heart2Heart!

September Mothers Club Part 1- Gracious Living in a New World by Baby Cruz

By | Events and Launches | 2 Comments

It was another nice and fulfilling afternoon at Mothers Club.  Thank you very much to Tita Baby Cruz for sharing with us  great advice on living a gracious life ( Part 1 ) and to Monique Santos for the French Bistro cooking class ( Part 2 )

graciousmoniquemothersclub1.jpggraciousmoniquemothersclub2.jpggraciousmoniquemothersclub3.jpg

We were so fortunate to have the ever gracious and beautiful, Tita Baby, to give us a talk on Gracious living.  I personally felt it was a valuable talk and all the other mothers agree.  Sometimes we are so busy doing our daily chores, working to earn a living, trying to cope with the world….that we tend to forget what really is important and what matters most.  It was a good wake up call and a reminder especially being a mother/lady raising children and running a home.  Hopefully we can serve as examples to our children and to other women by living graciously and being able to smell the roses amidst the fast changing world

Pink Kitchen 2008

By | Events and Launches, Foodie, Giving Back | 2 Comments

pinkkitchen2008layout1.jpgpink-kitchen-ad_v.jpg pinkkitchenvendors1.jpgpinkkitchenvendors2.jpg

It is Pink Kitchen this October – the same yummy event you enjoyed so much last year. This time, it is even better, yummier with more new food items to choose from. We have gathered almost 50 chefs and caterers to participate. Aside from that, we have again twisted the arms of “seasonal cooks” whose specialties are served only in their homes, like Wynn Wynn  Ong, Mona Bishier Valdez and Mariko Jacinto to name a few. They are cooking Burmese, Indonesian and Japanese food respectively.  Wynn and Mona are no strangers to Pink Kitchen having sold the most, while Mariko is a new participant and she will delight you with her Japanese creations.

Adding to the excellent food and wine to enjoy are pocket activities scheduled at 2, 4 and 6pm for 2 days on different topics. They are: Kid’s baking with Mel Francisco, author of Witchkins; Coffee Preparations with Robert Francisco of Boyd’s Coffee; Wine Appreciation with Ines Cabarrus of Enderun Colleges; Healthy Cooking with Rob Pengson, TV Host of Chef-on-the-Go; Cake Creations with award-winning Pastry Chef Buddy Trinidad and Look Good, Feel Good Skin Program by Becca cosmetics of Adora.

The organizing committee is headed by Kara Alikpala (Pres. of ICanServe), Bettina Osmena (Chairman, Fund-Raising) Beth Romualdez (Chairman, Pink Kitchen), Libet Virata (Chairman, Marketing and Sponsorship) Via Romualdez-Reyes (Project Manager), Alice Orleans, Executive Director, ICanServe; Ina Vergel de Dios(,Physical Arrangements); Ria Romero, Lian Chua (Finance) and Marge Jorillo.

We have put all our efforts together for a common goal: to raise funds for the benefit of the underserved women with BREAST CANCER. Our thrust, of course, is early detection and that is why ICanServe has launched projects like “Ating Dibdibin” ( the first community-based screening program in Marikina) and Silver Linings which was recently held in Cebu. I am inviting you to log on to ICanServe website –www.icanserve.net to know more about the projects being done to increase awareness, fight ignorance and fear among women with cancer.

It is a very worthy cause. I am inviting you once again to enjoy the week-end of Oct. 18 and 19 (Saturday and Sunday) with your family at the Rockwell Tent. This is your chance to savor your favorite foods and seldom- seen- food items, being waited on by the hospitality students of Enderun Colleges inside a beautifully decorated Tent. Be there at the opening at 11am for lunch, followed by a merienda break at 3pm. Walk around a little at the mall then come back for wine and dinner and some entertainment at 7pm till 10pm. All day at 200 pesos for adults and 100 for kids entrance fees.

Please call us for tickets – Beth or Via: 0929 848-2918

With much appreciation, Beth
