Bruegger’s Bagels

By | Foodie, Travel | One Comment

Is it true that all cities in the United States have a MAIN STREET?  We noticed in our road trips to the small cities, they always had a main street which was like their main street for shopping and restaurants…hmmm…This was the main street of Andover

 img_2905.JPG

So we drove through main street to look for a place to have breakfast and we stumbled into this!  Bruegger’s Bagels!

img_2914.JPGimg_2910.JPG

Wow! And of course….the land of choices!!! They have all kinds of bagels!!! It makes it more difficult to choose when there are so many choices 🙂 Drives me nuts!

img_2909.JPGbagelmenu.jpgimg_2916.JPG

Despite the many choices, we still went for the regular with cream cheese

img_2917.JPG

Tried to be healthy and ordered the whole wheat bagel

img_2918.JPG

The cinnamon bagel was also good!!! Sticky but good 🙂

img_2919.JPGbreakfastsandwichesmenubrueggers.jpgsignsandbruegers.jpghotpaninibruegers.jpgimg_2915.JPGsaladsmenubrueggers.jpg

They have a window where you can watch make the bagel- KETTLE BOILED BAGELS

img_2924.jpgimg_2927.jpgimg_2928.JPGimg_2930.JPGdelibrueggers.jpg

And you can take home bagels of course and the different kinds of cream cheeses in tubs already ready to go

Dining For A Cause

By | Best of, Foodie, Giving Back, Great Achievements, Proud to be Pinoy! | 5 Comments

Heart2Heart has added another angel to its list!  Tita Irene Martel-Francisco, the woman behind The Philippine Tatler and Philippines’ Best Restaurants Book.  I was with Mia Borromeo and she was telling me how much she admires Tita Irene.  She has a wonderful heart, Mia told me.  Mia also mentioned to me that the Tatler Ball which she organizes every year, she gives all the money raised to charity.  She does not even deduct all the expenses she spends for the event…. She spends for the event and everything raised goes to charity.  Wow! Thank you Tita Irene!

img_4691.JPG

Though she already gives back to society with her annual Tatler Ball, she decided this year to give back as well with her other publication, Philippines’ Best Restaurants Book.  The publication is on it’s 7th year and instead of having the usual grand launch for the book, she decided to give the money instead to its beneficiary, Hands On Manila.  At the same time, they have rounded up 64 restaurants to join in the cause and will be giving ten percent of its sales for the week August 13 to the 20th.  So let’s all support Tita Irene and help the kids of Hands on Manila.  If you plan to eat out next week, make sure to take note of the restaurants joining the cause…YOU CAN BE A HERO TO THESE STUDENTS!

Of course, Heart2Heart is not surprised that one of the biggest donors of Hands on Manila is Tessa herself! THANK YOU TESSA!!!

Thank you to all those who made this possible!

Celebrating over 7 years, and saying thank you with our ” favoriti”….we will be closing our doors on August 15….Gaita Fores

By | Foodie, Tributes | One Comment

I heard the news that Pepato was closing…I was so sad!!! But then I also heard, they are moving to a new home…so now I am happy again! Whenever someone asks me where I would like to eat, Pepato will always be on the list!  And before closing their doors on August 15, I made sure my husband took me to visit and have my last meal in that location

pepato2010a.jpgdsc_7528.JPG7yearspepato6.jpg

The great chef behind Pepato.  Heart2Heart likes anything and everything she cooks! and I am sure many others agree with me.  Goodbye kitchen 🙂

dsc_7464.JPG7yearspepato7.jpg7yearspepato8.jpg

I was looking at the menu for a long time….I did not know what to choose!  I like everything!  How can you possibly eat everything in the menu??? Isn’t there a dish called MENU SAMPLER???

While I was browsing the menu, they served me this!!! I LOVE IT!! I ate both and my husband got mad at me for eating his!  🙂

7yearspepato12.jpg

A new appetizer which was really really good using the mille feuille crepes!!  Finally a hot dish using the crepes!! Soooo… good!! And you can buy the mushroom truffle paste which is what you see on top

7yearspepato14.jpg

Since I could not decide…I chose the appetizer trio…I wish they had the whole menu in this portion so i could eat everything 🙂 SERIOUS!  Someone should invent a MENU SAMPLER where you can taste all the dishes in the menu- one bite each!  I WILL ORDER THAT! 🙂

7yearspepato13.jpg

Same with the pasta- I like all the pasta- but had to choose only two ( sounding not contented 🙂 ) YUMMY!!!!

7yearspepato15.jpg

THE BEST AND MY TOP DISH IN THE RESTAURANT which I always have when I am in Pepato. It is the best combination for me

7yearspepato16.jpg

My husband ordered this and I ate from it too of course

7yearspepato17.jpg

And then we had 3 desserts from Gaita! Wow!! We did not say NO! 🙂

Heart2Heart’s favorite gelato flavors

The New L’ Incontro

By | Foodie | 4 Comments

Thank you Tina for making us try your newly acquired restaurant!

 dsc_7064.JPG

We had a great time and enjoyed our 9-course lunch!  We are looking forward to going back once again!  More power and good luck in your new venture! It’s about time you have your own

 dsc_7056.JPG

This was not part of the 9-course meal we had – so, it was actually a 10-course lunch 🙂 Since everyone saw it on display, we all requested to taste it.  This is a 24 month aged parmesan cheese

dsc_7043.JPGincontro2.jpgmenulunchlaunchincontro.jpgincontro1.jpglincontro019.jpgdsc_7069.JPGincontro3.jpglincontro016.jpgincontro4.jpglincontro018.jpgincontro5.jpglincontro024.jpgincontro6.jpglincontro025.jpgincontro7.jpglincontro029.jpgincontro8.jpglincontro030.jpgdsc_7124.jpg

The ambience is much more cozy now and I asked Tina about the menu and if she changed everything – she said that she kept many of the old menu dishes but she changed the ingredients to better quality and fresher ingredients. And I am looking forward to the tasting menus and the executive lunch specials she will introduce soonlincontro001.jpglincontro003.jpglincontro002.jpglincontro031.jpg

dsc_7038.jpg

“We have a tasting menu with smaller portions that will vary regularly to sample new dishes. An executive lunch daily for those who are looking for a fast and light valuable meal. And a special catering menu for in house and outside functions and events. I’m creating Italian bites at the bar matched with cocktails  soon and even a tasting table for wine geeks and novices alike.

L’incontro  as translated “ the meeting place” is truly a place for every mood and occasion; a place for anyone and everyone..no matter how much you spend.”

Right beside Shabu Zen ( Shabu Zen, Chinatown, Boston July 30 ) is the little DIMSUM cafe!  We like it because it is dimsum all day not only lunch!  We ate here after Shabu Zen!!  Trying to taste everything in the short time we were in Boston.

Shabu-Zen, Chinatown, Boston

By | Foodie, Travel | One Comment

Of course we have to eat in Chinatown, whatever part of the world we are in. We crave for rice! 🙂

Our cousins, MJ, Chris and even our nephew, Christian, highly recommended this and made sure we ate here….so we did!

img_2845.JPGimg_2846.JPGimg_2849.jpgimg_2850.jpgimg_2853.JPGimg_2854.jpg

You can request for the pot to be split into two so we had SPICY and regular

img_2857.JPG

We got the Top Grade Black Angus USDA Choice, it looks a lot but those are thinly sliced

img_2859.JPG

YUMMY!  The water was wondering and could not understand that we wanted only BEEF – he wanted us to order vegetables!  🙂

img_2860.JPGimg_2861.JPG

In the bar area,

img_2848.JPG

they have a mini hotpot if you are alone 🙂

Union Oyster House, Boston

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

About a block away from the Faneuil Hall Market ( Faneuil Hall Market July 28, 2010 ) is the Union Oyster House restaurant.  It is the OLDEST restaurant in Boston! Yes, we were very touristic since we were really tourists in Boston!  🙂  We wanted to try their clam chowder which I read about.  Since I am not an oyster expert, nor a clam chowder expert, we could not really tell if it was the best 🙂  but the clam chowder was good!  We wanted to make sure we got the full Boston experience so we had to have a clam chowder!

img_3001.JPGimg_3135.JPGimg_3136.JPG

They literally had an OYSTER BAR!  It was full!

img_3143.JPGimg_3133.JPGimg_3140.JPG

Was trying to get a shot of the condiments for the oysters

img_3142.JPG

Since we were just having a snack to try the chowder, we skipped the long long lines and we sat in the lunch area

img_3144.jpg

Their bread is always so good!

img_3146.JPG

Calamari again of course

img_3157.JPG

And the CHOWDER

img_3158.JPG

plus the crackers

img_3145.JPG

YUMMY Clam Chowder!

Quincy Market, Faneuil Hall Market

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

I went inside Quincy market and wow!! It is one long building with all food stalls!  There were so many people because it was lunch time!! So I was squeezing through everyone and trying to take photos of the food!  How hard! There is a sitting area in the middle of the building – of course not enough to sit everyone going there to grab a bite!

Atlantic Fish Co

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

We of course always make time to eat and try the city’s specialties…I read about this in the Trip Advisor website and it had good ratings….It was in one of the main streets, Boylston, which is parallel to Newbury street. It was a saturday and a 4th of July weekend and it seemed like everyone was out of the city going to Cape Cod and Nantucket.  So we had the whole city to ourselves 🙂  It was easy to park so we parked right in front of the restaurant

img_2958.JPGimg_2959.JPG

Love this bread basket!! James always teases the waiters if we could order 1 order of COMPLIMENTS 🙂  Make sure to eat this basket of bread and those mini muffins were freshly baked and so so good!!!

img_2961.JPG

Calamari Milano was really good!!

img_2962.JPG

Javier wanted to order beef ravioli, instead I convinced him to get a seafood one since we were in Boston and so he got the Lobster ravioli and he loved it

img_2963.JPG

Maine Crab and Artichoke dip – Yummy!

img_2968.JPG

James forever likes his seafood marinara pasta

img_2970.JPGafishcolunchmenu1a.jpgafishcolunchmenu2.jpgafishcolunchmenu3.jpg

Wow, I saw this on the way out and wished I could have the french toast with cornflake crumbs
