Kani Doraku

Last year when we were in Osaka, we ate in this crab place which we really enjoyed. ( Crab Resto in Osaka  February 6, 2009) We were happy to find out there was a branch in Tokyo.  After eating all the beef, we were happy to have some crabs.  This is one of our favorites now and especially for Dad.  It was so near our hotel ( Dai Ichi Hotel ), around two blocks walking distance.  Looking forward to going back here.

I came late for lunch so most of the food was already gone, so the portions on some of the photos are already reduced.  Please refer to the menu pages for more accurate portions

Maisen

A restaurant recommended to me by Tippi Tambunting and we all love it! Tonkatsu ( breaded pork cutlets ) YUMMY!  We were lucky to get a table for all of us because the restaurant was full and when we finished lunch at around 1:30 pm – there was a long long line of foreigners and Japanese waiting still.

The dishes more or less all look alike when it comes to the pork tonkatsu- you just choose if you want the fillet or the loin ( more fatty ) and of course there are different grades of pork.

Gonpachi

By | Foodie, Travel | 2 Comments

Though we were in Tokyo last year, Heart2Heart is happy we tried new restaurants. One of them is Gonpachi.  I like it because it is Japanse food with a twist and it is quite reasonable compared to other Japanese restaurants.  My brother Noey and Krie says it is like the TGIFriday’s of Japan where people come in big groups and order beer and just order a lot of pica pica.

The location we went to is in Ginza and is in a place called the G-Zone.  You enter this door and it is a long tunnel leading to all the restaurants listed on this board.  It is a nice concept and all the restaurants were full!

This is my favorite dish!!! It is called Popcorn shrimp!  YUMMY!  and that thing under it is like seaweed and some crispy thing, we could not figure it out but it was really good!!

YUMMY YAKITORI!

img_0048.JPGimg_0046.JPGimg_0043.JPGimg_0039.JPGimg_0045.JPGimg_0022.JPG

Heart2Heart’s favorite was the foie gras with strawberry skewer ( 3rd from the left ) !! Never had this in any yakitori restaurant ever

Interesting california roll with parmesan cheese 🙂

On the way out, I saw they had a separate area for sushi/sashimi

Lauro’s Birthday Celebration

By | Celebrations, Foodie | No Comments

Last year we celebrated the birthday of Grace ( Happy Birthday Grace December 8, 2008 )  and this year, it is Lauro’s turn.  Grace said that they take turns in celebrating 🙂  These two really amaze us – how they love and compliment each other all the time.  They are one of the few couples we know that really really show their love and affection for each other and they are so proud of each other.  We admire them for that.

Happy Birthday to a good friend, a loving husband, a true gentleman ( as James would say ) and a smart investment banker….in fact, one of the the BEST investment bankers out there.

Happy Birthday Lauro! Indeed you have been blessed and we are blessed to be your friends.
